I love the Wheel of Time books. They are the reason why all of us are here. At least for me, the reason why I am here RPing at Dragonmount is that there were certain scenes in the books that really captured my imagination and I fell in love with, and wanted to try and capture some of that same magic with my own writing and characters. I thought it might be a good idea for us all to post some of our favorite scenes from the books, and why we like them, so that we can see what our fellow Warders enjoyed about the books. We can do this to get to know one another better, and can look here for inspiration for our own RPs if we are ever feeling flat. Feel free to post multiple scenes, or just one. Let's not post anything after Crossroads of Twilight, so as not to spoil any surprises for people a little backed up on their reading. This is not meant to be a discussion, just an open place for us to bond. And yes, that is a really bad pun.

My favorite scene of all time is when Mat beats Gawyn and Galad after having been healed by the Aes Sedai from the taint of the Ruby Dagger. The sights and sounds depicted there must make the Warder's yard to me. And Mat's nonthreatening` look made his triumph all the better.

My favorite scene, or is it collection of scenes, from the first book has got to be Mat and Rand's journey after getting split up at White Bridge. I loved how even though they basically had to just walk down a road, it was still a grueling journey and each day brought new problems. For some reason, the performing for your supper part really just stuck with me, and every time I read it I love it more and more. I guess if I had to pinpoint why that was the case, it would probably be that the boys were doing everyday things like playing the flute or working on a farm while running for their lives. It seems so easy to get lost in the massive battles and epic journey, forgetting the small things that we do which really connects you to a real world. I know in my own rps I always try and remember this, and make small connections to the every day even when dealing with extraordinary circumstances. I personally think it transforms a merely good rp into something truly great.

I like those scenes already mentioned!

I also like when Mat first figures out his luck with the dice spinning in his head, and leaves Tar Valon. In fact, I still think Dragon Reborn is my favorite of the books. There were never parts that dragged unnecessarily, and the fact that RAnd's "sidekicks" were finally becoming main characters in their own right (whereas EotW and tGH are both mostly Rand-centric I feel) made it a great book with lots of good scenes in it.

Especially when Rand gets to the Stone of Tear and everyone else has gotten there by their own separate routes. It's awesomeness!
