Maybe Afrikaans is easier for people who speak Dutch, than Dutch for people who speak Afrikaans. I think Afrikaans is more simplified.

well it is the spelling is phonetic and one object = on word e.g Tweebuffelsmeteenskootmorsdoodgeskietfontein (name of a farm meaning (Two buffalo killed with one shot [and a fountain in there, that happens a lot])

This language was taught to Malay slaves and it had to be dumbed down, not because the slaves were dumb, but because it would just have been hard for them to understand a European language
