Nice seeing all you old timers like me and good to meet the new ones. I'm Segurant, a long time member of Dm (coming and going but always here).

I just wanted to invite you to something new that the Warder's Guild is going to be holding.

We are going to be writing fights in detail. The battle will be judged on your writing skills, knowledge of combat, and the flow of your story.

For more info, see my post here:

http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=154

For an example of how this works, see this post:

The battle will be judged on your writing skills, knowledge of combat, and the flow of your story.

I will keep track of everyone's stats and stories. They will also be online for you to view.

If you have any questions please post them here.

Here is an example fight it is Star Wars based:

GRD Joseem Maruuch vs. KE Nekura Manji Keibatsu

Comments for this battle:

Post 1: In two words- bloody good. The only point I can think of to pick up on is this: "Manji thought, Force Speed [AA], and activated his saber." Well... we don't have the same Force powers as they use in the Jedi Knight games, so try and avoid writing things like "Force Speed" and "Force Push", since they don't exist- instead, try and come up with a nice descriptive way of writing your character moving much faster with the aid of the Force. Apart from that, excellent- one or two of your sentences seemed slightly awkward, but I can't really pick out any examples since that was just a hunch I got while reading over them. Keep it up!

Comments: I've stopped this here because, in my opinion, you really don't need any more training. The only point I could think to pick out in your second post was about you using the sun again (if it had already dipped below the horizon once, it couldn't do so again), and apart from that everything was perfect. As such, I believe you should go for a qualification match- double check your writing and make sure to check your stats against those of your opponent, and you should be fine.

Shadows lengthened over the Valley of the Dark Lords as the suns set, Korriban revolving into night. The numerous obelisks littering the valley floor cast their own shadows, shadows that seemed to writhe with the presence of so many Dark Side spirits in the bowels of the planet.

From within one of those shadows, Manji stared out at his opponent as the Journeyman approached. A slight nod of the head was all the respect the Epis gave, arms folded into his kimono as he propelled himself off the obelisk and began to speak.

"Guardian Joseem Maruuch- you're here with your training sabre to train for the Antei Combat Centre. Correct?"

The Guardian nodded, and Manji continued calmly.

"I have my lightsabre. Shall we begin?"

Joseem watched as the Epis landed. He knew his trainer was far above his own combat level, but that did not phase him. He welcomed the challenge. Joseem stood still as the shadows of the valley continued to elongate. There was only going to be one time when he would have the advantage, and it was coming. The first sun was passing the horizon. The sun flared once, just before it dipped below, and that was when Joseem acted. He poured his fear into his legs and propelled himself at blazing speed [PRW] towards the Epis.

Manji watched as the Guardian just stood there. He does not attack right away. He has patience. He also has fear, he thought. Manji knew the suns were about to set. He knew that an attack now would be well placed. As he stared across the valley floor, Jossem blurred! Manji thought, Force Speed [AA], and activated his saber. Joseem waited until the last minute before he activated his training saber and the resulting clash from the combatants rang out among the obelisks.

Manji countered by simply smacking Joseem's saber away. "You may have earned the right to have a Training Lightsaber, but you have no skill in using it." Manji said. "Come, pick up your weapon. Do not forget that you have other skills." Joseem walked over to his saber and bent to pick it up. He took his eyes off of his opponent for a moment, but for the Epis, that was enough. Manji moved with grace and skill, speeding forward [PRW] to land a horrendous blow on Joseem's left jaw. [PRW]

Joseem, already bent forward took the blow to his head and was sent sliding along the gravel. Joseem's anger flared and he slammed both hands on the ground. He front-flipped to a landing and turned quickly. As he turned, he raised his right hand and his saber flew into it. [TE] Joseem looked at Manji with hatred in his eyes. He sent his thoughts to the Epis, That will never happen again, my Master. [PT] Joseem stood up slowly, shaking off the blow...

Manji's cackling response rang through the Valley, echoing from the obelisks and bouncing off the imposing walls of long-dead tombs. His voice sounded harsh when he answered the unspoken words of the Guardian, unwilling to seize the Dark Side again so soon.

"Oh, so you're going to stop me, are you? That, I would love to see."

As Joseem stared hatefully at the Epis, training sabre raised to point at Manji's heart, the Epis lunged. His sabre blurred, creating a whorl of silver around the Equite's head as the blade severed the very air itself on it's path towards Joseem's throat. At the last minute, as the Zabrak helplessly raised his blade to defend, Manji altered the angle of the strike. The blow smacked against Joseem's guard, knocking the training sabre up. Crouching, his kimono flaring about him, the Epis levelled the point of his sabre at the Guardian's throat with a sneer.

However, Joseem was not about to give up so easily. Bringing his sabre under control, the Guardian brought a furious strike down towards Manji's skull, hoping at least to burn the Epis. Swiftly Manji flowed away from the strike, only for Joseem to pull his training sabre back up and aim a cut at the Epis' side. The sapphire blade pressed against the Epis' flesh, steam rising into the air from the burns caused by the sabre.

However, it lasted only a few seconds before Manji span round, kimono whirling about him like the wings of a raven, and felt the Dark Side flow into his arms [PRW]as he delivered a vicious punch to Joseem's face. The blow knocked the Guardian away, hurling him back towards one of the obelisks.

His back smacked against the stone, eliciting a groan of pain from the Zabrak. Glancing down at his side, Manji chuckled coldly as he let the Dark Side flow into him again and deal with the wound [AH]. Slowly the burn closed over, new skin appearing through the ragged hole that had been burnt in the kimono.

Then Manji looked up with a snarl.

"You'll pay for damaging my best kimono, punk."

Joseem felt the blood trickle from his nose as he raised himself up off the ground. The back of his head hurt, but he was a zabrak, with the ability to take tremendous amounts of pain. Joseem focused across the valley floor and smiled inwardly at the Epis’s anger. So, he is not all powerful after all, Joseem thought.

Joseem moved slowly around the valley floor, his boots crunching against the gravel. Manji countered the Guardian’s steps. Joseem continued his movements until the second sun was at his back. Manji, still angered at the damage done to his kimono, yelled across the distance, “Young fool! You know nothing of battle! Come, I will teach you the true meaning of pain!â€

Joseem again waited until the sun flared before dipping below the horizon, but this time, he did not rush forward. Joseem leapt high [PRW], directly above Manji’s head. The Epis had expected the attack to be ground based again, so he had shifted his stance to defend against it. Joseem came down hard, but Manji was able to get his saber up in time. The resultant crash echoed through the valley.

Joseem pressed his attack, lashing out with everything he had learned in the Academy. There was only one problem with this. Manji knew everything that was taught about saber combat at the Academy. The Epis met blow after blow with its exact defense. “Punk, now you pay for the kimono!â€

Manji spun low and swept the Guardian’s legs from under him. Joseem fell flat on his back as Manji brought his Lightsaber down. Joseem switched off his saber and rolled to his right, lashing out with his left hand. Manji, off balance, was pushed sideways [TE] a couple of meters. Joseem kicked his legs up and flipped to his feet.

All my tricks, all my strategy, and he shrugs them off as if nothing, Joseem thought. There was no time to think further as the very ground became like knives below his feet! [AMT] The Epis was definitely toying with him know.

Welcome to our boards Segurant! :D
