Haunted Theory

Thought this might be an interesting conversation.

Without getting religious and respecting other people's opinion... Do you believe in ghosts? Do you watch hunters on TV? Which shows do you watch?

I'm not a big "ghost hunter" tv show fan.

I believe ghosts are possible. Why not?

There's a whole avenue of unexplained things out there, why not ghosts too?

Oh, and I love Bones. and Castle. and Fringe. and Desperate Housewives. and Big Bang Theory.

I'm kinda a TV fan.

I think that ghosts are totally possible.

My mom and siblings and I watched a show called "A Haunting" nearly every day for a while when I was in 8th grade. Then we all started to have nightmares so we stopped :P

Hrmmm so I work for a paranormal investigations team... seen a lot of stuff that I can't explain. Spirits are real in my opinion.

I so do! I'm also very paranoid so I can't read ghost stories at night. I have to read them at noon when it's nice and sunny outside otherwise I have nightmares. I love Criminal Minds but sometimes that even scares me depending on how late it is and how tired I am. I love BONES too!

that's awesome, Rune. What's the freakiest thing you've experienced doing an investigation?

I am okay reading stuff, even watching scary stuff, until I have time to think about it. Once I've had a few minutes or hours to think about a scary film, THEN I freak out.

I made the mistake of running in the woods alone (not by choice) a few days after watching Blair Witch Project (A bad film, yes, but it caused me to have a Panic Attack).

It's funny, but I don't mind stuff Luke Ghost Hunters before bed (tonight's episode was awesome!). I simply can't watch a horror film. Period. It bothers me for a long time afterwards. I blame my imagination. LOL

Heath Ledger's Joker made me check on Peanut ten times during the night, for example. That wasn't even a horror movie! LOL

Movies that gave me nightmares as a child:

E.T.

Star Wars, A New Hope (C3PO actually scared me)

Anything with Monsters, vampires, or witches

at 5, C3-P0 scared the bejezus outta me.

It was the gold shinyness.

And, my brother had a lfesize cardboard cutout of c3po in his room and it gave me the willies.

Gremlins got me. I wouldn't put my foot down next to my bed to get in or out for years!

Are you all ok with me picking off these last couple if movie-related posts and putting them in the movie thread? We can continue it there...

Anyway, Haunted stuff.

Once, when I was in Fifth Grade, my girl scout troup went to spend a week on an Island in North Carolina. While we were there, one of the night activities was to go to "Blackbeard's Grave." I wasn't having it.

Nu-uh. No way.

Luckily, there were a few other girls who didn't wanna go either, and one of the girl scout leaders injured herself earlier that day.

So, of the 36 girls and leaders there, five of us remained behind and told ghost stories.

It was only then that we were told, "Oh, by the way, this rent house we have for the week? It's supposed to be haunted. FYI."

The others sat around telling ghost stories throughout the rest of the evening. I got freaked out because the door shut on its own.

*shudders*

Not as scary now, but at the time, I was freaked out.

The door closed by itself? If it wasn't wind, it's freaky!

I spent most of my adolescence in a house that was between the sites if the battle at Pickett's Mill and the battle at New Hope Church, two if the ugliest battles on Sherman's march to the sea near the end of the Civil War. I had a lot of experiences in that house and not all of it was related to that.

The funniest one was when they hid an earring from me. I used to get up at 4 AM in order to get to work at 6:30 to avoid traffic. I was putting on my jewelry and an earring was missing from,my jewelry box. It was a pair I wore every day like a security blanket. I looked everywhere for that earring, crawling on the floor to look under the bed, striped blankets and sheets off of it, thinking maybe I had picked it up already... Didn't find it.

Before I left for work, I told the ghosts that it was very funny, but I wasn't playing anymore and I better get it back when I got home.

When I got home, I went straight to my room and started looking again. I crawled on the bed to get my pillow... And the earring stabbed me in the knee cap. It was laying right in the middle of the bed where it would've been found if it had been there that morning.

Yes, that one was a prankster...

lol it's not scary to me so I don't know if I can give you definitive scary stories. We did investigate and old schoolhouse once and during a provocation one of our investigators was assaulted. It took him a year to be able to go back to that place afterwards. I've seen full on apparitions, shadow people, heard crazy spooky EVP's, the works, all part of the job :) I suppose the only part that does freak me out a little is being touched. Ya thats definitely disconcerting.

I don't want to hijack the thread of you are interested in learning more please PM me.

I bet its fun! I want to try it so bad! We have a few teams here in Savannah that stay pretty busy! We have more than our fair share of ghosts in this city. :)

So, how about spooky EVP's, then. Ever heard one that sent chills down your spine?
