Sithi and Sithe

Hi All,

I have recently re-read Tad William's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn (quite good, by the way) in which there is a race of immortals called the Sithi. I am now making my way through Rothfuss's books, and note references to some beings called the Sithe. There seem to be some parallels between the two races in the two series, aside from the obviously common origin of the word.

I hope this isn't so basic that it's laughable, but I wonder if someone could tell me about the "real world" base for these names/races.

Thanks

I don't know the answer but I would guess it is derived from Irish mythology and Sidhe

Bean Sidhe for example is Banshee

The Sithi is the pural form of Sith which as Jedi opposites who use the "dark side" of the Force. So Darth Maul and Darth Tyrannus were a pair of Sithi.
