You should really start watching this Cindy, the zombies aren't really even the focus. It's a really well written drama, much less of a horror show.

They really play a secondary role to the whole survival in a post apocolyptic world drama. The human interactions are what makes the show, not the gore. Although there is plenty of that too....

did you watch any of survivors before they cancelled it?  i loved that show...

yeah, imma like this one very much.

ever since that twilite zone epi where the poor guy breaks his glasses after the bombs i've been kind of obsessed with the genre... and... with having extra glasses...

oh, and gore doesn't bother me... it' a very specific zombie phobia, lol.

i will love it.

and then i can stop derailing the thread and rail it instead.

pre-ordered season 3 but maybe i'll just order AMC again...

Just be sure to start from the beginning. If you don't, some episodes, like this past weeks one, won't make much sense.

Plus, it's just good enough that you should watch them all anyway.

Cindy, they have the first two seasons on netflix. I watched Survivors on there too. Loved the show. Was pretty pissed off to find out they canceled it.

in the middle of a freaking cliffhanger no less.

so annoyed...

i must own the DVDs... i like to build my happy place of these things...

also... cancelled netflix, they bugged me.

Literally can't wait. I'm guessing everyone following prefers to watch them as soon as they're up as a weekly thing instead of waiting till they're all released and then watching them all at once sort of thing. I might give it a shot next time though. The main thing that's stopping me is just the discussing with my friends what just happened/what's going to happen next.

The first two seasons are on Netflix. BTW, I'm glad there was finally some Morgan closure.

That just isn't true. TWD has it's moments but it's characters are bland and they very rarely bother to develop them.

I've wanted to quit on this show at least three times now and the only reason I've stuck around was for the zombies which are really well done.

Theres development... But if you watched this last talking dead, they make a really good point on this aspect.

Someone starts opening up?

"BAM"

Maybe. But charaterization and dialogue are two different things. Tell me that Rick and Morgan's conversation wasn't really well done. Also, insane-Ricks telephone conversations with the dead people. I'd disagree that it isn't a well-written show, but I'm with you on the lack of character development most times. Some have progressed well, Carl for example and Darryl's transformation from racist redneck to loyal, brave teammate. When he stuck up for Glenn to Merle (he's not Chinese, he's Korean!) showed his development I think.

Tonight's episode made me furious. Rick the eternal dunce has the Governor unarmed and dead to rights. Has a pistol levelled right at him.....and doesn't shoot him in the face. Sits down for a drink and a chat. This man has really lost any appeal to me as a character. And he's going to give up Michonne, count on it.

First of all we need to recognize that all the actors are not equal. The guy that plays Morgan did a phenomenal job last episode, didn't know he had it in him. In comparison the guy that plays Rick sucks. I don't think he's a good actor at all. He has a good look and voice but he just doesn't convey the proper emotions at the proper times IMO.

Character development is also incredibly unequal. You cannot tell me that in any given season while they were alive Carol was not more developed than T-Dog. All we knew about him was his first name. Theodore. Carol had Ed, she had Sophia, she had Daryl, she had Andrea and Lori, and she had Axel. She's had to cope with an abusive husband, a dead husband, losing her daughter, seeing her zombie daughter shot, romantic interests, and you know generally staying alive and dealing with moral dilemmas with the rest of the group. She's far more interesting than T-Dog ever was.

Edit: so yes, some characters have development...and others are left in the dust.

Typical setup/"calm before the storm" episode. It's nearing the end of the season so anything super big and cool probably won't come until the last two episodes. I think next week's episode is the third from last so it may start to pick up again.

Damnit they're already starting with Merle.

Remember that conversation he had with Daryl where Daryl said he was never around?

Well Merle was trying to be there for him in this episode and the gang stopped him. :/

Isn't it obvious whats going to happen?

We are going to see several people switch sides. From the governer to rick, and perhaps vice-versa. The episode imo wasn't horrible at all.

And not shooting someone in cold-blood isn't a character flaw. They did agree to meet and not kill each other on neutral ground.

And thankfully rick called tgovernors bluff.
