Because people love pestering those who know the correct way to pronounce things.

 

Why do you drive on a parkway, and park in a driveway?

Because parkways used to have a lot of parking and you have to drive up a ways to get to your parking area at home.

 

Why is chocolate awesome?

Because we have taste buds.

 

Why is the sky blue?

Because light refracts through molecules in the air in such a way that the blue spectrum is what we see.

 

Why do some lasers burn holes through things and others can be used in meetings or as toys?

Because of how much energy is focused through the lens apparatus.

 

Why do our lives revolve so much around an imaginary concept as ridiculous as money?

Because humankind is unable to live communally with our current moral/value system.

I appreciate everything I care about because I always imagine what it would be like if I lost it, so that does not apply to me.

Because they're fun, and can do all sorts of stuff. And technology is cool.

they are sturdy and go with anything and... they are the uniform of the last 60 years or so.

 

why do you think I can do the physical labor necessary to support myself until I die, including paying out of pocket for medical care when my health insurance stops if I lose my *shudder* civilized job? I lived the other way till I was 35, but couldn't keep it up.
