RIP to my car

My 2003 Saturn Ion, that I've had for 10 years, died today. There was a slow oil leak that I didn't know about (my oil light never came on) and the timing chain broke and destroyed my engine. Luckily she died in my apt complex and the engine didn't seize when I was on the highway. I did have to have it towed back from the entrance to my complex back to a parking spot though. (yay for roadside assistance) My mechanic came out and looked at her and pronounced her dead. Next weekend I'm going to be looking for a car. I'm thinking either a Nissan or Honda. Any suggestions?

I suggest stealing a neighbors car in the dead of night and selling it to a chop shop for the extra money.

It will help you get a nicer car.

I don't have a budget for a Lamborghini... :p

Does anyone know anything about the Fiat?

february. the v6 with the big engine, loaded but not the hybrid.

it's a good car. sticks the road a lot better than the CRV did o the ice, a lot better than any car i ever had. get a little over 27 mpg, mostly country roads, so probably be better on the highway.

carsdirect.com has a good research function.

i didn't use it this time, i just picked the one i liked when i needed it. the honda was gonna cost me another coulpe thousand to get inspected and ... it was done. wanted a sedan for a while, just went to the closest dealership, took the best car i could find.

i was born and raised to hate them, but this car has had a great reputation for years, and ford's not what it was.

the honda was supposed to be all that, but... after the first couple years it was one thing after another, and the brakes were never good from day 1. the suspension was crap as well. and... SUV or not, it was scary as hell to drive in any kind of weather, really felt like it was going to tip with any correction.

you should do the research and then drive everything you have time to drive... my car insurance gets me a rental for a while in between vehicles, maybe yours would?

I've got time to test drive some cars. I've got my mother's Nissan Versa right now and I'm really liking it.

i always liked the nissans my stepfather had.

they make a 4 cyl fusion i think, there were a bunch of options with higher MPG, and the hybrid of course. but i need power to get up the mountain in the winter.

but if you have time and something to drive, definitely, try everything.

I have a ton of car dealerships around the corner from my house. I just didn't have it in me to go look today.

i only have one nearby, and i was sick of being 30 miles away from the dealership... and dealing with an uppity company who could really care less.
