What Do You Like About Your Name?

Featured Replies

Names Matt. I just like the sound of it. my mom denies it, but supposedly the idea for my name arose when my mom was watching an old western and a characters name was Matt. She liked it and decided to name her future boy Matt. Again she denies this, she says she just liked my name. Who knows.

Any name sounds fancy with Sir/Madam in front of it...thats why I'm Sir Townsend on here, or Sir Mathias (which is my most recent username on other things)

I got a bit tired of my name (Eric) cause it's a bit generic, I mean it's so generic it's in the WORD genERIC.

So I started going by the middle name for a bit, Travis, and lo and behold I met my wife soon after.

I like my name :) I was the only Lauren I knew until I reached high school, and even then there was only one other. The only thing that really annoyed me growing up is people couldn't seem to handle Lauren and tried to shorten it to Laura or Laurie. Neither of those are really shorter and it would just annoy me so they didn't stick. I actually didn't have any nicknames until high school when I got Lolo and Elle (L spelled out :p).

lol, I have a friend named Travis... he's really fast and plays lacrosse. People also have pronunciation issues with my name

What I like about my name hmm...

Son of my right hand, son of my old age, son of the south.....Benjamin the best name that I was given. :D

tha's cool... my grandpa's middle name was Benjamin until his dad was murdered.

ummmmmm.... how would that change his middle name?

Well I'm named after my grandfather, he died well before I was born. People seem to get the spelling wrong all the time, but that's fine I suppose, and then they also mix my brother and I because our names share the first two letters

my cousins do that... and lots of people call me by my sister's name which makes me really mad.... it changed his name because his mom was so depressed she changed his middle name to his dad's first name.

^ this is how i feel whenever people refer to me as my sister or say i look like her... first of all, she'd look like me because i was born first, second.... i'm nowhere near as annoying.

if you're name is long or hard to pronounce, it could be that it's just easier, not that they don't like it...

It's short and easy to pronounce. The ones that they prefer to use are longer  They don't actually hate it, it was just an exaggeration. They like the way I react when someone uses another name instead of mine. My name is Julia and they rather use Julieta, Julita, Juliette. Inexplicable.

Most of the time they use Spanish accent, but sometimes they pronounce it with a French accent (Juliette). They always surprise me with something new.

I don't like my name Adam is so common and it's kinda boring I was going to be called Jason, after the Greek hero, but my mum didn't want another J, my dad and grandad are Jeremy and Jeffrey, so they reached an apparent happy medium and called me Adam, my older sister is named after a film character, Lyssa from the movie Krull, and my younger is named after both my grandad middles names, Alexander George, my name kinda sucks in comparison
