OOC: This is continued from A Man in need of Cheering-up {OPEN} from the Warders Yard.

OOC2: Two posts were lost. In the first Shawn headed toward a tavern by the docks but was arrested by the music coming from the Green Advocate inn. He found himself entering the inn before he knew why. In the next post Cairma and Arie Ronshor, the owner of the inn, spoke and Shawn and Cairma were brought to a table.

IC: The inn was a pleasant place, far different from the location Shawn had intended to find. He was sure they probably did serve various forms of alcohol here, but he found that he no longer felt as strong a need to consume them. Instead he found himself relaxing under the soothing influence of the music, played by the band in the corner, and the comfortable atmosphere of the inn itself.

The hurt and dissapointment caused by his breakup with Dene was still there but was being pushed aside to make room for happiness once more. He knew the pain would return, probably as soon as he was alone again, but for now it had been banished from his conscious thoughts. Shawn thought that a game might help to further banish such depressing thoughts.

"Well Cairma I see a target has been set up. What say we have a friendly game? Your choice, knives or darts?" While he practiced with his throwing knives daily he had only a few experiences with the game of darts. Either way he was sure he could have fun.

"Darts. I always have poor luck at Daggers, in one form or anouther. Not that i don't win once in a while. But usually if I do, it is because someone wishes to lose."A brief moment of her thoughts went to Aran and the kiss she had 'won' from him. It was also in the moment she learned that he was her greatest weakness. He would need only kiss her and she was done, not that she would dare admit that to anyone. It was bad enough that the man got it on with any female she had met save Rosheen and Jaydena Sedai. Rosheen would probably kill the man in more ways than Cairma could think of if Aran ever tried anything on her.

Cairma poured them both cold mugs of ale as Shawn retrieved some darts from the bar. "Dibs on the Blue. Did you want first crack at it? Say a round of practice and then into the game?"

"Sounds good. I could definitely use the practice, it's been awhile since I've thrown darts."

Taking the three red fletched darts in hand Shawn stood at the line drawn in the floor and took careful aim at the target. What he'd told her was true, it had been quite some time since he'd been free to enjoy a game like this with a friend and he was very rusty. His first dart flew wide of the mark and found purchase instead in the wood of the wall beside the board. Blushing slightly he tried to laugh it off, "Guess I'm even more out of practice than I thought."

His next two darts fared better, with the last landing within the second closest ring of the target. What he hadn't mentioned was that while he was certainly rusty there was a time when he used to be extremely good at this game, winning money that he used to buy his horse, Blaize. But he made no mention of that, unsure whether it would come back to him or not.

"What say we make things interesting and place a friendly wager on the game?"

She watched the three darts hit thier marks, one in the wall, with a bit of relief. Throwing daggers were one thing, but darts? It was good practice to one-up on a game against Aran. Not that she would put it past him to play this game. However, it was just Cairma's poor luck in anything gambling. Even games that she should be rather skilled in.

"What say we make things interesting and place a friendly wager on the game?"

Cairma couldn't help but wrinkle her nose. Not that she wouldn't agree to it... "Last time i made a wager, i was piss drunk and taken advanatage.. well, nearly so. I won.. i think." She took a toughtful sip of her ale as she tossed her first practice dart. It went into the board just fine, however not where she had been aiming. "I'm not entirely sure who won that as my opponent purposely lost with a total of 5 points that round against my 21 points." But she shot Shawn a battered eye. "However, i could always stand to pass off a few nights on the wall." She took her last two shots, both poor to her aim, but not even Shawn needed to know that as they were decent shots regardless.

"What care you to wager? And on what terms?"

"Well, I could certainly use the free time to work more in the forge," Shawn replied or try to win back Dene's heart, he thought to himself. "How about one shift on the wall per point at the end of the game? Sound fair to you?"

Receiving a response in the affirmative Shawn bowed to his opponent with the flair and grace he'd come to master as a student of the Path of Water. "Well, Ladies first. What have you got?"

OOC: Sorry so short, I just realized that I have no idea how the game of darts is scored or anything and while I could make it up I figured I'd give you the chance to post first if you already knew.

Ooc : Darts are played a bit differently, depending on how one was taught, or plays the game. Instead of 5 daggers, you have 3 darts and the board is labeled 1-20. The Aim is to get 3 points into each number (1-10, or 11-20), Single (outer), Double (middle) and Bull (center). (Image Here). Any doubles can be used as point value (say you get a double in the 2's. you can either take it as a double, or as two 2's.) Of course there are drinking games to go along with this. Take two shots (drinks) for ever double.. etc.. And this "ooc" got really long.. hehe!

ic:

The dart tapped against her lower lip and the pondered for a moment on his wager. "I suspect that that would be quite a few nights of Duty if we play that way. But that works for me." but she smiled at his bow and couldn't help but think that the boy was a touch too formal with things. Maybe that was just his style. Or maybe she's just been around Aran's ..lack of formality too much.

Her first shot was a bulls-eye, and she laughed. "And watch that be the only one i get tonight." She winked and got a 5 and a 17 next. "Did you want to play the Upper or the Lower scale? Either work for me. Your turn."

OOC: Sorry for the delay, I had a lot less time over the holidays than I thought I would. But I'm back now so let's get this rolling.

OOC2: Ok I think I understand but let me ask a few questions. The goal is to get three in each number? And then also, one in the outer ring, one in the inner ring, and one bull's eye? Or are you trying to get an outer ring, inner ring, and bull's eye for each number? kinda confused just because there's only the one bull's eye. Also, do you have to do this in any kind of order?

IC: "Let's take the lower scale this time and see how it goes." He chose the scale before throwing his first dart, thinking it would be more fair to do so, and regretted his choice almost instantly. He'd aimed his first dart for a 1 and got a twenty instead.

Laughing along with his opponent he snickered, "Me and my big mouth. Well, let's see if this one works any better." Shawn's second throw landed squarely where he wanted, the 1 he'd been aiming at the first time. "There we go, that's a little better."

His third dart however went a little wide and landed in 10 instead of the 2 he'd aimed for. Luckily that would still give him points so he shrugged it off and kept all emotions from his face so she wouldn't see that that hadn't been where he'd aimed at all.

Shawn retrieved his darts from the board and waited behind Cairma to see how she fared.
