Did you know that the wealth of St. Peters and the Vatican was founded upon a fib?

 

I heard this story from an official tour guide there.

 

I visited St. Peter's and had the grand tour around and we eventually got to St. Peter's basillica. There are no paintings inside, because they didn't want anything to fade and so all the art on the walls is made of ceramic mosaics. Anyways, when Emperor Constantine died, the leaders of the then catholic church appeared with his last will and testement - which clearly showed his wish to leave the roman empire and all its wealth and stuff to the catholic church.

 

Over one thousand years later, they checked the Will and found it to be a fake lol.
