  1. Not gonna touch the book question because I'm a Show-Only fan. I will say this, though: Olivia Williams has a history of playing characters who are portrayed in a heroic light but who still do barbaric and ruthless things (see Tula Harkonnen, Adelle DeWitt). I'll also cite another example of a heroic character doing barbaric and ruthless things without ceasing to be heroic: Westworld's Robert Ford orchestrating the Host uprising and triggering Dolores Abernathy's 'Wyatt' personality program.
  2. Committing barbaric or ruthless acts does not make a character evil. Ned Stark and Robb Stark beheaded people; that didn't make them bad guys.
  3. I'm not worried because I feel confident that Amazon will continue to get whatever it is that it wants out of the show and therefore renew it.
  4. I might be the only person out there who isn't worried about the show's chances of renewal.
  5. That's not a recasting; that's a change in character. The primary reason roles get recast is if the original actor is unavailable or otherwise leaves. It's far simpler, logistically and practically, to, for example, bring Fares Fares back as Ishy - if he's available - than to introduce a completely new actor and say that said actor is Ishy reincarnated (especially since the Metaphysics of reincarnation are different in the show than in the books).
  6. If we get Forsaken being resurrected/reincarnated, it's likely to just be in the same bodies they previously had, for the simple reason that it's more logistically practical to bring back already-established actors than casting new actors to play the characters.
  7. It really does show that, despite being weaker than Ishy, Lanfear, and Moggy (who are either stated or implied to be the 3 strongest Forsaken in the show), he's still pretty powerful.
  8. In order for things to work out as they're shown, Rahvin/Gaebril had to have cast - and tied - weaves onto himself that almost* instantaneously affect everyone around him by implanting false memories in their brains and/or compelling them to behave like he's familiar to them. * I say "almost" because there's clearly a moment where Leanne isn't affected since she doesn't immediately recognize and announce him
  9. Malkier (probably as a child). That was (apparently) Moggy in disguise.
  10. There's absolutely nothing onscreen from the Blood Snow to make Unspoiled Show-Only people connect it to the Tigraine name-drop (at least right now).
  11. I'd argue the assertion that dropping the name Tigraine reveals anything unless, like me, you're a Spoiled Show-Only person.
  12. Elaida's shaking looked to me like the same kind of tremors that can affect people who are suffering from a debilitating degenerative illness or who are just getting up there in age, and given how old she has to be in order to actually physically appear as old as she does, my best bet is that she's suffering from some kind of age-related malady that affects her dexterity.
  13. There's no such thing as "objectively bad" because the terms "good" and "bad" are not objective. There's also zero equivalency between the people who talk about the show positively and the people who don't like it but are watching solely for the purpose of complaining about it and about the people whose opinions are not the same as theirs. This whole tangential screed has derailed this thread long enough, though, so this is my final comment on the matter. Now, moving on to other things, I like that Rafe and Co. are committing to turning the "rainbows, carnivals, and 3 beautiful women" story for Rand into a mutual Polycule instead of a stereotypical Harem situation, and that they chose to convey that commitment by using a one-night-stand between Elly (Elayne) and Avi as the catalyst for relationship development between them individually before we get to relationship development between them and Rand. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see similar relationship development happen between Elayne and Min before we get relationship development between Rand and Min.
  14. Being a fan of both the novels and the television adaptation does not make someone an "apologist". I'm not one of said people myself (because I do not like the books), but I follow a good number of said people online.
  15. Loving an IP does not require someone to force themselves to consume or engage with every single thing that is related to that IP, especially when it is clear that they do not actually enjoy the specific thing they are consuming/engaging with.
  16. It's entirely possible to be critical of - and criticize - the TV adaptation here - or elsewhere - without being ignored or dismissed. The problem is that a significant number of those with negative opinions don't actually want to discuss their points of view; they simply want to complain and baselessly attack and disparage the adaptation itself, the creators of it, and anyone who doesn't share in their negativity.
  17. Hyperbole much? To paraphrase Robert Jordan, you need to go have an affair with someone or something and get a life.
  18. I will never understand why people who so clearly don't like the TV adaptation insist on continuing to watch it because there is so much more else they could be doing.
  19. I'm not a book reader, so I've got no idea, but it really shows that, despite his being much weaker, relatively speaking, than Ishy, Lanfear, and Moggy, he's still pretty powerful.
  20. Gaebril was just broadcasting compulsion (and false memories) constantly, which is really scary. Also, I was right that announcing the casting of Nuno Lopes as Gaebril was confirmation of Rahvin's inclusion.
  21. Elly and Avi having a one-night-stand can absolutely be the catalyst for relationship development rather than the culmination of the same.
  22. I wasn't shocked at all, although that might just be because Olivia Williams has a storied history of playing characters who are heroic but still do some pretty barbaric and ruthless things.
  23. I said this after we got the Sneak Peak, but I still don't think we're actually going to see the Tower Coup happen this season, although they're very deliberately seeding it.

I don't think there's a distinction at all, as WoTTuber and die-hard book nerd Lezbi Nerdy just used the term "resurrected" in her most recent video to describe Ishy's return in the books. 🙂

Ishy definitely died at the end of Season 2, so what looks to be happening is that the show is going to resurrect him like he apparently was in the books, just not with a different identity.
