  1. Oh for sure. There is a lot of precedence already that that is what they’re doing: Nynaeve mass healing (because she might be the dragon?) the Damane incompetence in S2 finale (how else are they gonna beat them and Egwene free herself?), Moiraine being superpowered taking down Seanchan ships (are we suppose to believe the 14 damane on the ships wouldn’t see/feel Moiraine’s channeling and do anything?), Egwene apparently being able to shield off Isha’mael. Rand continues to be - pretty much useless? Whereas, I was just re-reading the Shadow Rising and when Egwene and Elayne try to teach Rand to use Saidin, they find that even though “they are two of the most powerful female channelers in a 1000 years” that “Rand handled them like a couple kittens” (in particular his strength was shown in that he could split and maintain multiple different kinds of weaves at once). Isha’mael is the other half, the Dragons counter-balance, in the pattern. Writers do not care that much about magic-mechanics & power levels & what Aes Sedai competence or lack there of should be. And even “book experts” like Sarah Nakamura and (presumably) Rafe aren’t going to know or care about everything. I think they care more about certain relational dynamics. So “Rule of Cool” wins the day! And that was a cool fight scene. So I want some more of that and less of “well, we wanted to get it exactly right to please the hardcore fans…” Nope. I need them to make it to… S6? At least… to get Dumai’s Wells. And then I’ll be happy. More cool please for me!! 🙂
  2. These guys just enjoy arguing… it was good Tv!
  3. I honestly would be surprised if they didn’t … but we’ll see.
  4. In S2 Ep5 Lanfear says, “Moghedien is insane. Graendal is a vain idiot. And the boys couldn’t execute a plan even under compulsion.” In S1 we see 8 statues that Steppin is “warding off” and 4 of them look feminine. The one on the far left is questionable. I think it likely, it being Amazon and Rafe being Rafe that they’re going to include Aran’gar! That would also make sense to lend support for their S1 take that “the Dragon could be female”.
  5. No. I’m not a purist. I think it’ll make more sense to have Rand and Couladin fight (maybe even have Couladin be a Forsaken). They open with Aes Sedai shredding each other - I think they need to close with a One Power Male battle and go hard!
  6. I want to see more Forsaken: I think we’ll get Moggy and Lanfear for sure, but I also think we’ll get Slayer and maybe even a little bit of Sammael and Rahvin? I want to see Matt go through the Red Stone Doorframe. I want to see a Rand, Couladin throw down. I want to see Nyn surprise Moggy with her outburst of power. I want to see Perrin go full wolf-mode in the 2 Rivers battle. And, I’m impressed by and want to see more of this WT Black Ajah throw down. Smart of them to realize a sneak preview - if the whole season is at the quality of the 10 min we got - it’s gonna be a good season (even if us book fans are insufferable about certain things)! Good Tv is good Tv!
  7. Well in the teaser - she’s gonna rip up the street and throw stones at them. Which we established in S2 is unstoppable (a bunch of damane never saw it coming)! 😉 I kid. It’s was really good. And I don’t even care about the plot holes even in that sweet battle. Like (“Wait, how did everybody die outside the hall except for Alanna’s two Warders? That’s convenient for an epic western style showdown. Draw!” lol Honestly. I’m pumped. I was most worried that the CGI would be cheesy. But this is as good of a magic battle as anything I’ve seen.
  8. Yes, we need some analysis 🧐 . Honestly, what I’m most interested in is what items were in the “13th depository”?! Lol I for sure saw the male Adam. The Foxes and Snakes doorway. The female access key/statue. The oath rod. The dice. But there may have been Callandor as well? Anybody else see something?
  9. Wow. CGI looked good. Really nice cold open! Hate that this is pretty much a confirmation that we do indeed time-jump and everybody is in Tar Valon, but … that was entertaining TV

We def are getting the red stone doorframe experiences this season. The cold open just dropped and it was in the “ter’angreal” room in the WT. Time stamp 8:40. Clearly has snakes and foxes on it too.

I like your explanation. But I think Rafe’s “feminism” was a little too … unchecked. In S2 they even had Siuan have the line, “We would’ve been so much better off if you were a girl.” Though, with you, and extending some grace - I’ll take it as Ishy lied and Aes Sedai hubris as well…

WoTTv for me is like … Going to Taco Bell. It’s good enough that I go back. It’s has its moments (blood snow, Lanfear/Ishy scene)- I crave that Crunchwrap-Supreme. And well I’m consuming it I like it and hate it at the same time (oh, Matt I love Matt - wait the Shadar Logoth dagger is a lightsaber - kinda?!) And half an hour after I’ve finished it, it’s back in the toilet (now that I’m reflecting on it I like it less and less)! But I’ll be back! lol 😆
  13. Wow. Yeah, I had not seen that summary. You may have convinced me too. They could go for a Kyle Ren vs Ray type of thing (I’m gonna turn you to the light! I’m gonna turn you to the dark-side!” Type of thing) I don’t like it if that’s where they’re going… but … my loins are girded and expectations low. Just hoping for good TV (which upon a rewatch, S2 was pretty good Tv - even if, from a book fan perspective I was really scratching my head!)
  14. I don’t mind if they time jump; you just can’t move characters to one place for convenience that makes no sense for them to go. In the world they’ve built they’ll have to come up with something we can believe of why Rand, Avi, Matt, and Moiraine would ever risk going to TV when pretty much everything in S1 and S2 so far says they wouldn’t do that. It’s sloppy and poor writing to just move them to TV in a time jump because … hey we need everybody to start in TV? But there is precedence, as you say… I imagine it went like this for the S2 Finale. Writer 1: “We need everyone in Falme for the season finale? But Matt just took an unexplained amount of time to travel from TV to Cairhein so he could meet up with Rand because Ishy/Min have seen Matt kill Rand by stabbing.” Writer 2: “It’s not a problem. Lanfear can knock Matt out and bring him there.” Writer 1: “Ok. How? And why? Lanfear has had … 0 interactions with Matt.” Writer 2: “I don’t know. Ishy told her to do it. We don’t have to explain it.” Writer 1: “But doesn’t Ishy say they’re not ready for the plan and need more time & he wants to turn Rand and not kill him? And what about Min?” Writer 2: “Oh we don’t need Min.” Writer 1: “Ok? What about Lan and Moiraine and Rand?” Writer 2: “Lanfear through the Waygate.”Writer 1: “Wouldnt Lanfear kill Moiraine?” Writer 2: “Rand asks her not to. You’re overthinking it. These aren’t obsessive fans who care about world mechanics and distances and character motivations and development!” 🤔🤣🤷‍♂️

Yes for sure. Biggest weakness of the show is they’re trying to do too much with not enough time. Having 1 dimensional antagonists was Jordan’s weakness. What the show is doing with the Forsaken is the strongest point of their writing. However, what the show is doing with lore/mechanics is … well … bad. Right of the gate having “the Dragon could be female” … no. That the male side is tainted and the Dragon destined to go mad is VERY central to the whole story. The Shadar Logoth dagger … no. Again, central to Matt’s arc and they’ve royally botched it. Burnout and healed from death … no. Central to Nyn’s arc … and they’ve botched it. OP power levels and distances … no. What Moiraine did at end of S3 makes her so much more powerful than anybody thus far in the show - and that makes no sense even within the show.

Chosen? We better keep an eye on you! 🙂 The “will you betray me?” -Ishy “Obviously.” - Lanfear was good writing
  17. They could be reusing sets.
  18. Season 2 ended with all the characters in Falme. Why are people convinced that the Inn they are seen at in the trailer/teaser is in TV? Would make more sense to start out in Falme - discover the broken forsaken symbols - Lan’s line: “They won’t just come for Rand, they’ll come for all of us.” To be there. Avi’s line, “My people have waited for the Car’na’carn. To think it might be you? (Disdain)”. To be there. Elayne’s line, “Make them believe in you and they’ll follow you to the ends of the earth.” To be there. Rand’s line, “Were going to go the last place they would ever suspect.” To be there. Rand then decides to go with Avi & Matt & Perrin to the 3 fold land. The women go back to the Tower. Then the black Ajah stuff and Elayne test. That would make sense. If they put all the characters in TV at an inn to start S3 just cause …they’ll have lost me immediately as terrible writers who didn’t read or understand the books! Even with what they’ve established in TvWheelWorld several of the characters aren’t going to TV if they can help it (Rand, Matt, Aiel). Moiraine wouldn’t bring Rand back (Suian shielded him and wants to hold him prisoner). Why would they go back?

Alright so I didn’t read all the posts in this thread, I’ll admit. But I just finished a rewatch of season 2 in prep for season 3 and got to get out some thoughts. #1: In the past I think my love of the books made me too critical. Season 2 is actually, for the most part, good Tv! #2: the actors/actresses did an amazing job; Egwene, as a damane, wow. Madeline is amazing. The facial expressions. The hand shaking as she finally touches the vase & then screaming. The “steel” in her. So well done. #3: what the writers did with the Forsaken (mostly) is actually an improvement on the books. Establishing that Ishy and Lanfear and Lews were the best of friends (sort of) and that Lews and Lanfear really want to turn Rand to the dark rather than hurt him. But they have different motivations and actually even work against each other. And then that Moggy and the other Forsaken won’t be as … helpful. All of it. Well done. #4: the special effects and fighting were better than I remember when I watched it the first time. Ok. But now I do have to get in a couple criticisms too. Episode 8 was bad writing. Truly. And my #1 critism would be … What in the world are the writers doing with the mechanics/lore of the Shadar Logoth dagger? I mean even if I knew nothing about it and set aside all book knowledge… I would go “ummm - so it’s tainted and evil and you can’t touch it - but you can put it on a pole and then you’re fine?” “And Fain would just - give it up - cause Ishy said so?” “And It’s a lightsaber that melts through things and insta kills - but it’s not a insta kill on Rand?” #2 would be … “so Moiraine must be the most powerful channeler ever right? I mean, from a beach a long ways away she takes down a fleet of ships that had 14 channelers on it shielding Rand. And then she puts that dragon in the sky from that distance too? All the damane just shoot fireballs from a tower and then can’t block stones flying at them. Power wise she’s got to be the best right?” #3 would be … “wow, for a Forsaken, Ishy must be a terrible fighter huh? Cause it seems like Lanfear can flick of the wrist handle Moiraine and Suian and whoever she wants, but Moggy. But Ishy can’t figure out how to get through Egwene’s shield? And then Perrin getting a hero of the horn shield somehow helps her shield?” Alright. Ending on a positive note. Season 1 got screwed up with Covid and Barney leaving. Season 2 got screwed up with a writers strike. I think S3 can be really good! The actors and actresses are amazing. Most of the writing has been very good. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of the Forsaken and more of Matt & Perrin (2 of my fav book characters of all time)!
  20. There is no evidence (that I know of) that that is what this season will be about. It’s not like they’ve been all that “book faithful” in the first two seasons. I think this season will be about Rand trying to win Avi and Elayne & their people (Aiel and Camelyn) to his side. “To think you might be the Car’na’carn” -Avi “Make them believe in you, and they’ll follow you to the ends of the earth.” - Elayne Yes, I know they’ve said this season more aligns with book 4 … but they also have to majorly fast track things if you only have 7 seasons and 8 one hour episodes. So that would include in the first half of this season establishing a love plot with Elayne & then when Eggy and Rand go to the waste I think they could explore the “you’re with my best friend now?” dynamic. Could be wrong. I just really doubt that the “do you love her” will be in reference to Lanfear.
  21. Maybe later on in the season, since upon closer looks at the stills - Egwene and Rand are going to be in the waste together and going into the dream world. I still think it’ll be in reference to Elayne and not Lanfear though.
  22. A couple more thoughts: I think the Avi line, “Our people have been waiting for the Car’na’carn’s arrival. To think it might be you.” (disappointed tone) is going to be in TV in Ep1 at the Lights Blessing. And Rand is going to be taking it hard that the Aiel don’t believe in him. I think his arc this season, for the most part, will be about winning the Aiel to his side. Then I think the Elayne line, “Make them believe in you, and they will follow you to the ends of the earth.” is also in Ep1 at the Inn in TV. And I think Egwene’s line, “Do you love her?” Will be in reference to Rand and Elayne at the Inn in TV in Ep1 too. I think the WT fight scenes will be Ep1. But I think most of the other lines and shots are probably episodes 6 & 7 where we’ll get the 2Rivers battle & the rings//past lives of Rand & Moiraine seeing possible futures where Lanfear kills her over and over. I also predict from the trailer that
  23. I'm back. What do I think about the trailer? Very hopeful that S3 is going to really turn things around! Most of it looked really, really good. Couple shots made me super nervous though that it'll more of the same and I found S1 to be bad, and S2 to be improving, but not great. But I'm super excited for S3 and think ... no more excuses Rafe and Amazon - this season has to be a home run! Here's what concerned me: #1) I'm 95% sure, from what I've seen elsewhere and heard and saw in the trailer, that in Ep1 we're going to have ... and in that battle some (some not all) of the special effects were concerning - it looked cheesy - seconds 10-18 in the trailer - where Liandrin is floating in a bubble? I mean - we've had some baaaad special effects moments in S1 and 2. The Trollocs at the end of S1. Moiraine's ... dragon at the end of S2. #2) It seems like they're trying to cover A LOT of ground, which makes sense, but also worries me that we won't have character development. From the scenes in the trailer, it looks like we're definitely getting ... as a book fan, that we're getting all that excites me ... as one who thinks they need to give more screen time already and have longer episodes, all that worries me too! BUT. Most of the trailer is SUPER exciting and I'll rank it in terms of what makes me most hopeful! #1] "You do not belong here." And then a head melting away. Confirmation of World of Dreams, and it looks good. This can be a big win for the show if they do it right. #2] "Archers! Loose!" Battle of Two Rivers scenes looked really good. #3] "What did you see in the rings?" If they do what I think they're going to do with Moiraine and Lanfear at the end of this season (book readers know what I'm talking about) ... I think there is hope for a S7! If not ... then not. #4] "Make them believe you, and they will follow you to the ends of the earth." Rand and the Aiel, lean into that baby. #5] Costume department is still killing it. They are the heroes of this show thus far. Every costume (except maybe Loial - we'll give you a pass there) is superb. #6] "They won't just come for Rand. They'll come for all of us." And Moghedien touching Nynaeve's face and laughing. #teamForsaken #7] "Do you love her?" I think they can do some interesting things with the Elayne/Egwene/Aviendha ... well, whatever you want to call that ... dynamic. #8] Time stamp 1:39 and 1:40 - Lion Throne with Pregnant Morgase? Bringing Camelyn into things. Good. #9] Time stamp 1:59 - Nynaeve gets through her block and shreds! #10] Time stamp 2:07 - Faile & Perrin. Let's move past and forget about all the Laila stuff.
