  1. Rand should have let Egg do the healing. She would've succeeded.
  2. It's just giving Moiraine more screentime and even more new storylines and she doesn't need anymore. And it's literally mirroring Wells one, like remember Taim's iconic ultimatum, well Moiraine was first to threaten Aes Sedai about submission. And it's not like show 100% would even have Wells
  3. Yeah because show never took scenes from one character gave to another to make latter cooler or stronger or more important. Wait...
  4. Or maybe it's not foreshadowing, but once again taking cool scenes and lines from some characters and giving to another, who doesn't really need even more runtime and storylines
  5. Egwene was siphoned so much Power that everyone around her dies to defeat countless trollocs and still managed to perform the biggest healing miracle, bigger than anything in books. Rand got tricked by Ishy. S1 ends with Egwene's triumph and Rand's failure. In s2 she breaks from impossible situation and goes toe to toe with Ishy. Rand also got caught in impossible situation, twice, and both times he couldn't do anything and was saved by forsaken and Moiraine and Egg. He didn't even fight Ishy, that stabbing was most anticlimactic moment i saw in long time. How you can say they on similar growth path if Egwene uplifted from book and have more Power and better control, while Rand got downgraded and denied to do anything he did in books?
  6. But it's not unimportant detail. Isn't major theme of series is Rand can't and shouldn't do everything himself. People argued reason he needs to be kneeled and saved by everyone else in s2 is reflection of that theme and reminder not to abandon his friends. And yet Egwene can do everything herself, she doesn't need to be saved from impossible trap, nothing can't handle her. Two protagonists are learning completely different lessons. Overall context is Rand useless without others, Egwene perfectly fine without others. We don't know that. Besides he wouldn't be sole pov, Perrin also should have had his time in s1 and Egg and Nyn s2. Why couldn't his arc have cool moments in it? You know, like in a book? We 2 for 2 of Rand not getting it It is not contradiction. It would be like in a books going from simple 2-3 povs in s1 to more povs in future seasons, not switching gear but steady transition. But writers in race to make everyone important abandon Rand.
  7. But Rand was never antagonist. He was always protagonist. Even with madness he still acted in best interest of the Randland. Even if show goes full madman Rand those two quotes contradictory. So we need to build other characters, but don't we need to build Rand and give him time to be protagonist. If show won't let him be hero before painting him villain, how would we be invested in his redemption instead of his defeat
  8. It's not just slowly, for two seasons he denied almost everything he did in two books. No Tarwin's gap, no Falme, no Turak, no Hurin and Ingtar, no Caemlyn, no Cairhein, no flicker. Even Eye of the World subverted from his triumph into failure. Why not cut Tar Valon? Girls also have more story in future books. Why sacrifice Rand's storyline?
  9. You still not explaining. I genuinely do not understand. Why Egwene being saved by Nyn couldn't be filmed. Why was it necessary for THIS thing to be changed? You saying you understand, so please explain. It's not uncharacteristically. He has most pov overall. Despite main theme and his realisation at mountain he still is central and main character. Despite everyone have their stories his stoll story came first and evolved into everyone's. Through him we are meeting the world. It was okay to start from simple and go to complex. But show for some reason needed to start complex give attention to everyone, except Rand and Mat Rand's and Perrin's character cut back. Moiraine greatly expanded, she even has sister now. Instead of Rand's sword training or leadership position with Hurin we now see her dealing with being stilled or not
  10. Well than, explain to me, please, why was it necessary for Rand to be helpless and saved by different characters multiple times during season, but showrunner changed Egwene escape? What was so bad about being saved by Nyn that author needed improve RJ vision? I truly don't understand
  11. Despite both Rand and others have great story in books, Rand's story MUST be sacrificed. Rand cool moments given to Egg, Nyn, Moiraine and Perrin. He was sidelined for 2 seasons, so not everything indicates he will be central hero of season 3. A'dam doesn't work. Everyone but Rand much more powerful with One Power. Is this more understandable?
  12. Those two things is bigger than anything in the books apart from two mountain scenes and cleansing. Egwene literal nobody heals Nyn no that different for other non-sedais after destroying army of trollocs. Maybe Tarwin's gap had pool of saidar? A'dam most harmful thing known to Egwene and yet she managed to willingly collar other person. Ether a'dam doesn't prevent from harming others or she had outside help from Dark One He literally didn't defeat him, he didn't submit but we know he didn't take W. He didn't even get him wound from fair fight with Ishamael, he was stabbed by Mat. Mighty heroic from him. And heroic fight with Turak is gone. He didn't steal in EF. He was seduced by riches but it's different character flaw to me. There plenty story for Egwene and Nyn and Moiraine in the books, but show created for them new feats and storylines. By taking away Rand's screentime. Now he doesn't train with sword, Nyn does. He doesn't defeat trollocs, Egwene does Show's history of sidelining Rand doesn't indicate it. For all we know he would be trapped in Rhuidean in ep1 and Moiraine would not only save him but defeat Asmo if he even exist in show canon. Anyway, there's plenty of great story in the books for Rand and show needs to use Moiraine as much as they can Or maybe Faile would be commander and hero, after all she is royal and Perrin just blacksmith and it wouldn't be realistic for him to be capable leader. Watchers today like realism in their fantasy. Anyway, there's plenty of great story in the books for Perrin and show needs to establish Faile like Eg and Nyn in s1.
  13. AoE heal, resurrection, a'dam not working for some reason. What about Rand sword fights, about his leadership, aboud his friendships, about valuable lessons from Ingtar or Thom. He can't have all these, but Moiraine can have sister. He must be put on his knees and be saved multiple times a season, but Egwene don't need any help from noone. He can't be heroic at all, he doesn't even present himself as Dragon Reborn in Falme, Moiraine did. It looked more like Aes Sedai's false dragon project rather genuine step in Dragon's prophecy. Showrunner clearly prefers Egwene and Moiraine over Rand(cut content), Mat(remade to be a thief) and Perrin(killed his own wife). If only those three wouldn't be in story others would shine even brighter.
  14. How about it's wrong and bad because it take valuable screen time from staff show decided to cut.
  15. It would be fine if show actually be "new", but it's not just "new". It's fanfiction based on existing story with clear biases towards certain characters. If only showrunner actually created some new original show there wouldn't people comparing it to some book. Then he could have all the sex, make his own rules to magic and wouldn't be burdened with 3 to 5 characters less appealing to him
  16. Now this is extremely silly. People always justify changes to source material by saying "It's fantasy, why <something> can't be in story?". So here's my question: "It's fantasy, why town full of good people can't be in story?" Why this needs to be realistic?
  17. No way. Especially not by those authors. Ahahahaha. Cool one, it's was soooooo important that audience see as little Rand actions as possible. I guess Rand being innocent hero doesn't work this day and age so now he must have sex. Cause sex makes story interesting and mature. Hove thoughtful of showrunner. I wonder what is bad book staff was actually filtered by show staff. Is Battle in the sky bad? Rand's whole travel to Falme must be bad cause showrunner wouldn't remove main character's lessons on responsibility and leadership for no reason. Him fighting cool duel with sword must also be bad and we all know swordfighting won't make interesting TV, only good in books. What about Nyn and Elayne saving Egwene? Is woman being saved by women as "problematic" as being saved by men, or just "bad" (Authors didn't have any problems with Rand being saved multiple times in 2nd season).
  18. It looks like it continues to be Moiraine's show.
  19. As if show will actually follow book narrative.
  20. Surely adding donut steel characters of Stepin and Anvaere, and creating engaging storylines like "who's dragon" and "shielded Moiraine" really helpful in condensing story into tv format
  21. How we supposed to show you what more literal approach beter than fanfiction other than look at scenes? I took one of the most unnecessary changes and try to argue against your budget and engagement factors. You saying I try to rewrite scene "ignoring any knock-on effects", but scene is ALREADY rewrite of book, rewrite what had funny knock-on effect of making Nyn useless in climax of S2. You know, completely opposite of finale of S1 there writers changed Rand story to make every character relevant in climax of season. This alteration changes book lore, ignores in-show themes, alters behind-the-scene motivation to rewrite source material. Maybe i simply don't understand you, but as i see it, your words can be interpreted as following: 1.you don't know how current budget affects actual filming. 2.just because you can alter scene you can't know how it affect overall show, so you need to alter all script. 3. Therefore unless you create adaptation yourself you cannot show that adaptation as a whole is better if written to more closely follow the source material.
  22. People actually addressed your three factors, they just met with nu-uhs. But let's take one scene and "analyse" it through your three factors. Season 2, showrunner's favourite character breaks free from a-dam by herself, alone without any help. This is failure by third "inspiration from the source material" cause not only it contradicts books lore and theme of help all characters learn to accept, that scene betrays internal theme in show itself. Writers insert all characters into confrontation between Rand and Ishy to show viewers how Rand needs help and can't do stuff alone, but Egwene actually don't need anyone to resolve her problems. It doesn't make sense by first "production constraints" factors. Nyn and Elayne actors already in Falme set, there is no need for more budget to transfer characters to Falme location, to give more time for actors. What Nyn and Elayne do instead of helping Egg? Play with arrow in the leg. Would cutting arrow from show and inserting girls into Egwene fight cost more or take more time? Don't think so. And most vague and subjective factor "the need to produce an interesting TV". I guess it really comes to viewer to decide how interesting and meaningful. Was decision to let Egwene break metaphysics of the Wheel truly interesting? For her fans probably yes. But she had interesting moment in s1e8 by healing Nyn, and would get more interesting moment by stopping Ishy. Is this decision worth taking moment from other girls? For their fans probably no, given they didn't do that much anyway. I hope I'm not lazy anymore
  23. With directions show already took with male and female characters I fully expecting Lews will be responsible for the Bore now, as lead researcher of even sole driller. And to expand on Lanfear she would be reliable one and try to stop foolish and arrogant Dragon, but he didn't listen and his distrust and ambition pushed her into Shadow, not her own nature. You know, to not create another character, it's TV and limited runtime and condense story and less budget to another actor. After all Lews The Dragon Reborn already known for audience as breaker of world, why not make him more heinous to "convey the nature" of Breaking. People would love such change, some probably gonna say how book didn't really focused on the Bore.
  24. I'm just fascinated how everything in the world against showrunners: corona and Barney were against them, now evil Amazonians come along and ruin perfect vision. Now apparently Rand being Dragon Reborn Reborn is forced by execs. In can't be that writers don't fully care about metaphysics as we see with circles, and a'dam, and Dragon Reborn Reborn, and aoe heal, and Uno being hero of horn, and mega-healer Egg That's not "pedantry", that's THE point. Dragon Reborn is Rand being Lews who is Dragon.
  25. I think Lews being Dragon Reborn good indication how much writers respect source material. It can't even be blamed on evil execs who bullying poor little well-meaning showrunners, cause it's not big enough story thread to be dictated from above.
