Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

(0 reviews)

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Thank you RJ, for all that you have given us. And thank you for your example of faith in God. There is much we can learn from his example.

My deepest condolences to the family of RJ. You know how special he was to all of us.

I am shocked and grieving at his loss. His work was the biggest influence on me to venture into the world of writing. He was the biggest inspiration on my writing and writing style and I only hope I could come close to that some day. He was one of the greatest writers of all time and the greatest fantasy writer ever. His work impacted millions of us. Far beyond simply entertainment, he captured our imaginations...

We love you and miss you RJ.

My deepest sympathy to Harriet and all his family and friends. RJ was an amazing man, who touched the lives of many and was an inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed, but will live on in all our hearts and of those to come who pick up his books. He has brought so many people together that would never have had the opportunity to meet if it wasn't for the love of his writting. Thank you RJ for the friends I have made and for sharing your talent with us. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

A million years is not enough for Harriet and RJ. May they reunite on day, and until then, my prayers to Harriet and a strong, silent hug.

I wish I had the words to express the pain and sorrow I feel right now. I'm just overwhelmed with shock and sadness and anger. We've all lost not only a great man, but a whole world of people that we've all come to love. Half my life has been spent with RJ's magnificent tale; its abrupt end is almost unbearable. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends, and to all of us who will never be quite the same again.

Rest in peace, sir...

Little did I know that cracking open Eye of the World while at college in the 90's would open to me world of wonder and excitement. Not only did it provide me with a world to escape to when I needed a break from reality, it opened the door to many new frienships via the Dragonmount site. I only wish I'd found the site sooner . . . perhaps I'd have learned of a book signing close enough for a day road trip and had the opportunity to meet someone who touched my life so deeply through his books.

I never had the privilege of meeting RJ, yet his spirit during his battle with his illness touched me deeply. My heart goes out to Harriet, Wilson, and the rest of the family - you remain in my thoughts and prayers. Know that millions of people all over the world are mourning with you and that, while we may not have known him personally, his impact on our lives was no less profound.

Farewell, Dragon, and thank you for the world you shared with us. It has become and will remain a favorite world for me to escape to. May the Light illumine you, the Creator shelter you, and the last embrace of the Mother welcome you home.

My deepest condolences to his family. But I also offer my condolences to all the lives that Jordan has touched, and who now feel affected by this sad news.

Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time have been a part of my life since 1990, when I was still fresh out of high school. One career, one wife and three kids later, Jordan, through his work, has always been there for me, and his master tale has been a staple of my existence. It will remain so.

The world was a better place while he was in it, but he left enough of himself behind that even after his passing, the world will remain better than before he was in it.

My deepest deepest condolences go out to the Jordan family. Humanity has lost one of its greatest writers, no one had ever attempted what Robert Jordan did on such a scale as he did, and now i feel in my heart a great loss as a thousand loose ends are left to hang and the god of a world in which my mind has inhabited for years passes.

Well, damn it all, I really thought you were gonna pull though. We'll be thinking of you: Harriet & Wilson and everyone in the family. I'm sure you know how much he touched our lives but I'll tell you again-- nothing could compare to the delight of reading his words. Rest in peace Mr. Rigney, Robert Jordan.

I am sad. More than half my life has been devoted to reading, rereading and waiting for Mr. Jordan's books. I will miss the stories he did not have the time to share, for I know they where great and they where many. My sympathy and condolances to all touched by him. I am sad.

Unseen and unheard, the Wheel of Time itself shuddered to a halt to mourn the passing of it's Architect. It paused for only the briefest of moments before it remembered that in it's turning all things that pass will come once again.

We'll see you on the flip side, James Oliver Rigney, Jr.

I would like to express my deepest condolences for the family and friends of Mr. Jordan. I discovered the terrible news through a friend to whom I recommended the Wheel of Time series to, saying how great of a read it is. Like the real world we trudge through daily, the Wheel of Time was never perfect, sometimes long-winded, often complicated. But without a doubt, it is the greatest story I have ever had the pleasure of reading (multiple times). I would be hard pressed to find a series that deals with all the themes that Jordan tackles in his works, from politics to religion to love. I recommend it often, I forced my wife to read the first installment (she didn't like it as much as I did, but at least she tried lol), and I even tried to get my two oldest daughters into it (still workin on it, RJ).

There is much that I owe to this series, as it has made me consider possibilities that may have never been realized without Mr. Jordan richly envisioned world. My dreams are many, and perhaps the Wheel of Time will play a great role bringing those dreams to fruition. I have no worries about the future of the Wheel of Time. There are many faithful out here, and we will all honor your memory.

All Honor to The Wheel of Time.

All Honor to Robert Jordan.

My deepest condolences to Harriet, Wilson and everyone else close to RJ.

Although I have never posted here, I have followed the blog. His books have given me a lot in dark times, I owe him. Alas he awoke from the dream and now he can dream again, yet he will be missed by those still here.

Gosh, I hope he finished the ending to his story, and wrote the book backwards. If I were an author of a gigantic series, I would be devestated if i failed to write the ending. I wonder if he would want peoples sympathy, or would rather have them ask about his next book? My guess is he is much more interested in your love of his books, rather than of himself.

Not since the death of Isaac Asmiov have I been so distraught over an author's death! I've invested almost 20 years of my life in his Wheel of Time series and now at the last book he dies!!

This is just outrageous. At least Stephen King finished his Dark Tower series and that took a close brush with death to do it. I think his biography was very prophetic when he wrote that he will be writing until they nail shut his coffin. Will another author like Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson step in and finish his story? How long before we finally get to experience the end of his vision? I might as well give up reading fantasy altogether! Who is next? Terry Brooks? George RR Martin? Maybe there should be a law saying authors should face mandatory retirement after age 55!
