Welcome to the Band of the Red Hand! You came at a good time... our group is undergoing a transition, so there is a fun spark of life that is only increasing around here. To all those who are interested, I received two job offers this morning. Both are working at the elementary school level, but one is teaching Spanish part time while the other is working alongside a full time ELL (English Language Learner) instructor as a full time ELL instructional assistant. I have decided to take the offer of the full time ELL instructional assistant...still working with the wee little ones to teach them English but it will definitely be an eye opening experience, and an inspiring one. So, in other words: Time to celebrate! The MG got herself a big girl job and won't have to work at Taco Bell full time anymore!!! *does a happy dance*

I know this is the question on everybody's mind right now after my promotion of being given the Band to take care of. My immediate answer: get this show on the road. However, this is going to take a lot of work from everyone here and an exceptional amount of work from me. First things first, I do want to start over completely with all staff members. Besides myself, I believe there was only one other appointed staff member (who is welcome to reapply) but I would like to start this overhaul with fresh beginnings and new leadership definitely means some new things will be happening. After a bit of a delay, it is time for the Band of the Red Hand's music theme to explore world of Classical Music. You have spent some nominating your pieces of Classical Music to enter the contest and fight for the honour of being DM's and the Band's favourite piece of Classical Music. Now we move into the phase where you pick the winner. Overall, you managed to nominate 5 songs in total, and I am including all of them in the contest. As a result, we are going for a slightly larger than normal contest. Able to dedicate at least 10 hours a week to this Social Group and DM Staff. This includes keeping up with threads on the DM Staff boards, engaging in Staff discussions, participating in Staff projects, posting in your Social Group, reading posts at your Social Group, leading activities or discussions in your Social Group or any other leadership responsibilities for your Social Group. 2. Hey- So everyday at work we have this thing called a "stand up meeting" where we talk about what we did yesterday, what we are going to do today, and what's in our way, blah, blah, blah, it's boring. To make things more "informal" we get "called" to the stand up every morning by music - normally either Guns and Roses or AC/DC. However, today the "Scrum master" is out and it's my turn to select the call to stand up music. I have an inclining to use a classical piece, but would like to hear suggestions as to what piece has a brilliant fan fare opening (or anywhere in the piece - i can skip around) that would rival G&R or AC/DC* I was thinking: Dvorjak…

I just spent an hour or so immersing myself in Old JotS verses .. Starting on page 1 which is all the way back to '06. After an hour I'm not sure I even got to Summer of '07. The memories this is dredging up, near bring a tear to my eye. Early verses from Taymist, Brid Morgan and myself as Newbs. Verses from legends like Footman/DeathDealer, stuff from former CG's and Senior Staff as Recruits like KaraJ and Direwolf Jon .. and Mystica .. holy hell there was a time when she BURIED us in JotS ... I'd like to say welcome to the Band!!! This thread is where our current members will come to meet and greet you! As I said in the sign in thread, feel free to join in anywhere! And I'm sure someone will come along soon and give you the official spiel. Until then why don't you tell us a little about yourself?? Just whatever you feel comfortable telling... If nothing else, what made you interested in joining the band??

I'm replacing Corki as the SGL for the Band. I'll be posting a call for apps with detail on what that means shortly. If anybody has any questions, please feel free to ask here or PM me.

A curious thread to see what people's latest albums or songs they have bought. Personally, I have bought Epica's The Classical Conspiracy and Lunatica's New Shores in the last couple of weeks. I am not really a person who buys individual songs...I much prefer owning albums and actual CDs (and probably one of the few people keeping that part of the music industry afloat).
