  1. Following in the footsteps of "It's A Knockout" for the best selling singles of 2008 and "It's A Knockout" for the best selling singles of 2009, the annual contest continues with the top 16 singles from the UK chart from 2010, according to BBC Radio 1. "It's A Knockout" remains with the longer format this month - and this means there are 16 songs instead of 8! And the 16 songs are the top 16 from the Radio 1 link. "It's a Knockout" - Format For those of you who have not been involved with a "It's A Knockout" thread before, the rules are quite simple. The Band of the Red Hand is DM's travel, music and eating out Social Group, and "It's a Knockout" is a …

  2. Something new and different for 2011 from the Band of the Red Hand, DM's music, travel and eating out Social Group. We have never really had a news thread dedicated to music in the past. I have posted the odd thread when I see something interesting, but I feel one thread started each month will be beneficial and a good addition to our boards. I suspect I will be the one posting predominately, but the thread is open to all to post any news relating to the world of music, for example, news of a new album, tour or band member, or maybe the sad passing of one of the greats from the music world. Any genre is fine, so I am sure there will be a wide variety, from metal to c…

  3. I had forgotten how hysterical this was, and then a friend suggested it and I fell in love all over again. What makes it so great, besides the English part, is that it's actually got a fantastic bluesy beat and sounds like it could be a hit song.

  4. Started by F Horn of Valere,

Over the next few days, we are going to try to clean up the forums, update pinned topics, and if we don't finish it, at least start a better way of letting Recruits know what the heck is going oere n when they first join. We have already started the process by identifying areas that need some organizational shuffling, and several pinned topics in the Campfires have already been taken down, but don't be surprised if suddenly some outdated pinned topics dissappear or if some new stuff pops up. Apart from making the recruiting process more easily explained, nothing should really change too much-- Maybe a new board will be made and an unused board or two taken down,…

  7. "It's A Knockout" continues its Christmasy theme with our second thread, using the songs that you chose in the nomination thread, and a few I have moved over from the Carol nomination thread. "It's A Knockout" remains with the longer format - and this means there are 16 songs instead of 8! Four (4) songs automatically qualified from finishing in the top 4 in the 2009 contest, six (6) have been chosen by you from both threads, with the remaining six (6) being added by me. As mentioned, there were 4 songs qualifying from the 2009 contest. These songs have been seeded for the 2010 contest. The seeds are as follows: 1. White Christmas by Bing Crosby 2. Christm…

  8. "It's A Knockout" returns for the festive period after a lengthy break to DM breaking and my studies! The festive season is upon us, and that means the focus is on Christmasy songs and music. And like last year. you are in for a double dose of "It's A Knockout" this Christmas, with the third contest for Christmas Carols (2008 and 2009) and one with your nominated songs. In 2008, Hark! The Herald Angel Sings won but got knocked out in the 1st Round in 2009, which meant that O Come All Ye Faithful took the crown in 2009, beating its position of runner-up in 2008. Again, for 2010, we have 4 seeded carols (based on their 2009 performance), which are as follows: 1. O …

Hello there! I figured since I've been added and can see the boards it's about time to introduce myself. :D My real name is Laura. I've always been into music and am only recently looking to do something other than sing in the shower or while washing dishes. I do Christmas caroling and am hoping to join my church choir as a start. Other than that I love to travel. Me and my husband backpacked through Mexico for 3 weeks taking the non-tourist routes and almost once getting captured by banditos while on a bus going through the mountains. It was wild and a great adventure. :) Something to someday tell the grandkids about if I ever settle down and have any. :D I'm a b…

  12. After the success of this idea last year and the previous year, the musical advent thread returns even if I do not feel very Christmasy at the moment - this is because I am preparing for horribley accountancy exams and work is quite busy. But I will do my best to bring a festive spirit to the Band - here is the third installment of the Musical Advent Calendar from the Band of the Red Hand! Each day, between now and Christmas Eve, I'll be posting a musical treat for you. Some songs will be Christmasy, others will be just absolute classics that everyone loves. And to add to the surprise, all there will be is the link to youtube. So sit back and enjoy the surprises for e…

  13. December is upon us and Christmas is drawing ever so closer. Personally it isn't since I am bogged down with studying for my rather important accountancy exams next week, but it shall do once they are done. Last year we had "It's A Knockout" contests for Christmas Carols and your favourite songs. We shall be having the same again this year! So, this thread allows you to nominate your favourite Christmas songs (rock, pop, classical, NOT CAROLS) to go into the "It's A Knockout" contest to select DM's favourite Christmas Song for 2010. And below is what you need to do! Between now and TUESDAY 14TH DECEMBER 2010, nominate your favourite Christmas songs to challenge for th…

  14. December is here and Christmas is just around the corner. Roll on next week when my accountancy exams will be out of the way and I can enjoy the festive period! Last year we had "It's A Knockout" contests for Christmas Carols and your favourite songs. And we shall be having the same again this year! As we move into the third "It's A Knockout" Contest for carols (2008 and 2009), for the first time ever, I am allowing you to nominate your carols after I have picked them for two years. So this thread allows you to nominate your favourite Christmas carols to go into the "It's A Knockout" contest to select DM's favourite Christmas Carol for 2010. And below is what you nee…

We have moved into December and 2010 is fast coming to an end. Christmas and the festive period is getting closer and closer. And that usually means it is a good time to eat lots, drink plenty and roll out the festive music. With that in mind, what are your favourite festive songs? And why? And maybe give us a little taste of it with a YouTube clip or similar! Will it be an old classic like Bing Crosby's White Christmas or something more modern, like Lady Gaga's Christmas Tree? Or something catchy like Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday? Whatever it is, let us know!

Hey Guys! Pretty much everyone here knows me, but just in case, I'm the head Mod over at the Entertainment Boards. We are all about Movies, TV Shows, and Video Games and love to talk about our favorites. To get in the Holiday Spirit, we just started a Holiday Movie Showdown in the Movies subboard. It's basically a round robin where I post two Holiday classics and everybody votes on which is their favorite. The voting keeps going on until one movie stands triumphant as the Best Holiday Movie Ever! Please stop by and join us! The more, the merrier! And honestly, who doesn't love Holiday movies? Here is the thread: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/5405…

ok so my birthday is coming up December 30th, and I'll be the big 40. Now I don't want to stay home for my birthday, I'm a single mom and my daughter is 17 so does anyone have any ideas what i can do to celebrat my B-day/mini vacation. I've thought of Vegas but its going to be over 1200 for each of us one week plus airfare. I may still do this but I'd rather find something similar for less, so anyone want to plan my celeb-daycation. now some things I probably won't do much off, window shopping/shopping at all. Eating, besides just quickie stuff. I like adventure or doing things on vacations, ie be physical. Long drive in a car through pretty sceneary is ok bu…

What do you think about having a thread where we can discuss the book that just came out, maybe in the review boards? I'd like to discuss it with poeple i know, hate those review boards they are all so rude! if you have a different oppinion then what the masses have they totally bully you, and even though i like a good fight i really want to enjoy discussing this book. Especially scine there was alot of matt in it! I'd have pm'ed you but they are still down

Aparently I don't get a welcome so I'll just introduce myself. I'm in my junior year of high school and I live in Alberta, Canada. I started the WoT series back in Jan and I finished it in July. I've started a reread and I'm taking notes while reading such as Min's viewings and Egwene's dreams. Can't think of anything else to say but it is great to be part of the Band!

I was wondering how many aspiring musician we have in the band. What does everyone play? I play (Dabble really) Guitar and Bass. I own an old Yamaha BB2000 Bass guitar a Fender Acoustic Bass and a couple of Yamaha Acoustic (6 & 12 strings). I used to own a Rickenbacker Bass and a Kraemer Ferrington Acoustic Bass. I was in a couple cover bands for a time in the late 80s early 90s.

I've been passed this underground message in the far woods of Gmailia. It reads: Dear Band members, Due to the powers that be, DM has captured me and currently a small resistance within DM is working to set me free. Please know that these freedom fighters are doing their best during this time of crisis but be sure that like before DM cannot suppress Canis Rufus. To the Cav members please continue with the current outline of projects that were in place prior to the DM update, mainly focus on the new "sigs" but if we can get back on the mapping project all the better. This brave resistance fighter has brought this message as it been like two weeks hidden in this little…

Leaves fell with no sound, unless color was sound... and then the music of the woods was singing. An ogier thought, perhaps, but to one so long in the woods it was certainly not out of place. Maglin reached down and patted the neck of Hidden Treasure, his horse, clucking softly in order to be reassuring. His journey was coming to an end, or just starting again, however you chose to look at it. From a position of pride or responsibility in the band, he had begged his leave and absence. No one would be the same, probably. Odilion gone a year before Vinn even left, Ehlana most likely gone like him. Drea had probably found her own adventures, as had the rest of the sco…

  28. Hello Grum, I'm Jea, second in command around these parts (aka the Under-Commander, or UC). We're so glad you've joined our ranks and cannot wait to get to know you more and more over the years (yes, years) to come! I'm sure our illustrious leader, Corki, and the third in command, mister F Horn of Valere, will be around shortly to welcome you as well! Until that time, whenever it may be, arrives, please enjoy one of these specially made extra special chocolate fudge brownies and an enormously large mug of Brew Tea! :)

  29. Hey welcome to the Band! You've just joined the best fighting force in the know world. One of the senior staff will be round some point to sort you out to see all the private boards, but till then hae a look round and post on anything that looks interesting! Before I forget *Stevros hands the recruit a pitcher full of Bandy!* p.s. Cavs are the best regiment.
