It's that time again, folks! :D For those of you who don't know about the Empy's, every year we do an "Academy Award" show online where we give awards to the people and places that make DM great. It's really simple and a lot of fun to nominate people and groups for different things. There are lots of different categories and this is usually a LOT of fun for us here at DM every year! We haven't done one of these in a while, so I thought it might be fun, especially for those newer members who are now looking at me like I'm a wacko, to see how much fun snail mail can be! Here's the skinny on how it works: 1- you sign up and say you're interested in playing along, 2- you're given someone's name (a la secret santa), 3- you put together a package of goodies, 4- you put it in the mail, 5- you get goodies in return! Greetings to all of you wonderful wonderful people. I have been on Dragonmount for less than a week and I think I have found a home (if you will have me). I want to join the kin. I want to be part of this great group who has brought me smiles, helped me destress, and made me laugh far more than should be allowed at midnight on a week day. A little bit about myself. Right, please correct me if I'm doing this wrong! I really don't understand the social groups system at all, I only joined DM a couple of days ago. So, every year we start a thread about our resolutions/goals, etc for the coming year. The purpose of this thread is to set a goal and then share your progress for working towards it. USUALLY, we revisit the thread every couple of months and see how everyone's doing. Last year was a down year for a lot of crazy reasons, but we're reviving the idea this year. So, what do you want to accomplish this year?

Lor and I have come up with the best Kin exchange in the history of the Kin! *grins* And that is saying something!! LOL! Every year on the Chirstmas Wish List, Lor wishes for a Penpal. I’ve wanted one for years, since I lost mine! Penpals of the past exchanged letter’s to learn a foreign language, because they were isolated or lonely, or just wanted to make a new friend! There is a special relationship between penpals. Usually they never met, or only did after years of letter exchanges. The only way they knew each other was by what they wrote! Hello fellow DM'ers. Starting here in January I will be posting a Chapter by Chapter review of the entire Wheel of Time series. The goal is to finish the series around the release date of aMoL and finish the review with the newest and final book. Feel free to come join us for the discussion portion of the review. For those of you who are new to the Kin, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite parts of the Christmas Season here. A few years ago, we had some folks who were having a very rough go of it. They'd been laid off, could barely pay bills and keep food on the table. Needless to say, their Christmas was going to be pretty down. We decided to see what we could do to help, being the Kin that we are. We collected money, pooled it together and sent it to our Kinster in need. I'm curious. I just got my Elf on the Shelf yesterday, so Peanut and I are starting that tradition. We're also restarting a tradition my mother-in-law did every year with her kids: making Santa's cookies, rather than buying them. I think traditions are an important part of just about everything. I thought it would be fun to decorate a tree this year. We have a lot of new faces and I think you get to know a lot about people by the things they can add to their surroundings.
