  1. Started by Emperor,

This is a truly musical weekend at the movies, with Disney's TANGLED and a weirdly realized version of THE NUTCRACKER coming out almost in secret (more on that later). But only one of the three that is "Fabulous!" is BURLESQUE, an unapologetically camp and unintentionally awful work that doesn't so much qualify as a movie as it does a 105-minute moving photo shoot for star Christina Aguilera. A combination of the worst parts of SHOWGIRLS, COYOTE UGLY, and GLITTER, this movie exists for no other reason than to have people tell Aguilera how talented she is as a singer, dancer, and looker. She plays Ali, a small-town midget from Iowa with a killer voice (there's no getting a…

You know him, you love him, and somehow filmmaker Danny Boyle has managed to stay relevant not by remaining in a single genre but by never being predictable in terms of the kinds of projects he selects. He started out in an almost punk-rock style with tales of murder and drug use with SHALLOW GRAVE and TRAINSPOTTING. He allowed himself to get more extravagant and elegant with A LIFE LESS ORDINARY and THE BEACH, and dialed it way back for the fantastic made-for-TV comedy VACUUMING COMPLETELY NUDE IN PARADISE. But it was 28 DAYS LATER… that began, in my estimation, his five-film streak of near-perfect films. If you haven't seen MILLIONS or SUNSHINE, correct that glaring…

So, I'm playing the various Total War games when I discover 'modding'. Someone has modified the Medieval2 game to be like Lord of the Rings, but I haven't finished loading it to play yet. But it got me to wondering if anyone has come across a Wheel of Time mod for Medieval2? I'm sure it would be minus the One Power, sadly. I Googled it, but couldn't find anything. Worst case, maybe I'll learn how to do it and create my own Randland!!

Reviving this thread. =) I finally saw Walk the Line last night. Good movie, but not as great as I was hoping for. Reese Witherspoon continues to be adorable. I would totally forsake my marriage vows for Joaquin Phoenix.

Anybody watch these shows? I am kinda impressed with Tower Prep. It's surprisingly good show with some nice mysteries and overall slightly above average writing. I think they put the episodes on youtube if anyone is interested I am also pleased with Lost Girl. Yeah it has the same fantasy setting as a half a dozen other shows but it's pretty decent. The chaarcters are nice and not just because they are pretty and the episodes can be quite entertaining

  18. Started by Krakalakachkn,

So, I've just caught up on this season. I have to say, this is without a doubt one of the funniest seasons I've ever seen. There hasn't been one episode that hasn't had me rolling on the floor laughing (rofl, if you will). Sexual Healing: Really funny, and a biting commentary on rich/powerful men in America and their inability to be faithful to their wives. Mainly focusing on Tiger Wood's affair and the media attention it generated, my favorite bit was Elin Nordegren's lines/voice - "You muuutherf*****! I'll kiiiill youuuuuu". Overall 7/10 Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs: Funny and extremely witty, imo. Parodied the current trend in literature of crit…

I realize that many fantasy books are carbon copies of each other (Although dragon age is a video game and not a book), but the similarities between dragon age and the wheel of time are uncanny. Here's a list of elements in Dragon age that may sound familiar to you readers: -The Qunari are a group of invaders that claim they wish to improve people. Everyone is "equal" so long as people do their duty. Oh, and they have "mages" (yes i said mages) on leashes. -The dragon reborn, there is literally a child in the game with the reborn soul of a dragon (not the same, i kno but still). -THE CICLE TOWER of mages in the middle of a LAKE, yes they have that -the country …

  28. 1. Ultraviolet - The movie looked like it was going to be so cool. LOL 2. The Covenant - See it? You wasted your life. "I'm gonna make you my wi-atch." 3. Zardoz - Even Sean Connery's Sexiness can't save this one. 4. Shock Treatment - I might have preferred shock treatment. 5. Batman and Robin - I think they were trying to set some kind of suck record.

I just watched this week's episode on DVR - did anyone else see it? The show's been borderline unwatchable for years, but this one was a classic. Stacks up well even against the best years of the Simpsons. Could the show be on its way back to greatness?
