I'm not the kind of parent who sits and plays games and expects my kids to not. In fact, I tend to think that gaming is good for brain development, so I encourage it. That said, MAN is it a pain in the butt sometimes! My 7 year old got this game for Christmas... World of Goo. He thinks it's the best thing ever. He comes home from school and immediately wants to play it. He wants to play it straight on until bedtime. (We tend to frown on that...) Trouble is, his 3 year old brother is obsessed with the game as well. And HE wants to play it. But it's really not a game for a three year old brain. He can copy the easy ones once he's seen them done a time or …

Some notes on tonight’s typically entertaining “Survivor,” the first in its new regular Wednesday timeslot: * “This is Nicaragua!” announces Jeff Probst. “Remote! Mysterious! Dangerous! Straddled between the raging waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea!” * No Fairplays or Hantzes emerge in the premiere. Everyone initially seems honorable and good-natured. * As the episode begins, the cast has been tricked into thinking they’re all on mixed-age tribes. They’re unaware that Probst will soon segregate the twentysomethings from the forty-and-up-somethings. (Only three of the contestants are older than 48, and none is as old as Rudy Boesch when Rudy fir…

The same day we learn of showrunner David Fury’s exit from “Terra Nova” comes word from Deadline Hollywood that actor Stephen Lang (“Avatar,” “Conan”) is in talks to join the series as Frank Taylor, “the charismatic and ruthless leader” of a group of time-traveling humans who escape from a dying future Earth to the planet’s dinosaur era. As the Dealine piece points out, Lang's character in "Avatar" and Lang's intended character in "Terra Nova" were probably born within five years of each other. Jason O’Mara (“Life On Mars”) has long been cast as a newcomer to the Terra Nova colony, a former cop Taylor hopes to recruit for his prehistoric security team. Allison Mi…

I was playing The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap the other day, a friend is letting me borrow it, never played it before, and I was doing the cuckos mini-game:5 cuckos in 50 seconds. I threw the last cucko in at the last second but it hit the ground like literaly 5 MILI-seconds after the time limit. The game didn't count it...and it happened twice like that. The Firefight thing that I talked about in the Halo:Reach thread. >.> I was destroying an enemy team on team death-match, Cod: MW2, but my guys were getting pwned...an enemy made a knife throw across the map, random, and hit me in the face...making me the game losing kill for my team when we only need…

AVATAR: THE LEGEND OF KORRA is a sequel series to AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, the hit animated series. THE LEGEND OF KORRA picks up seventy years after the events of THE LAST AIRBENDER's final episode and focuses on Korra, a member of the Southern Water Tribe who becomes the Avatar after the death of Aang (the hero of the original series). Korra has already mastered three of the four elements but needs help to master airbending. With Aang as the titular Last Airbender, this is somewhat tricky, so she goes in search of Aang's (and probably Katara's) son Tenzin to get some help. Her quest leads to Republic City, a steampunk-driven metropolis where people from all four…

Welcome both of you to the Seanchan, and Banger, welcome to DM as well! Feel free to participate in any threads here or in the private boards, and start any new threads about topics you'd like to discuss. As newbs, we will give you tasks to complete. Or, we will pretend we will give you tasks, but not actually give them, since we're too lazy to think of anything to bid you do except writing limericks. :P So I guess, until someone tells you to do something else, you should write a limerick. - Luckers, you will write one about how fabulous I am. ;) - Banger, you will write one about Kevin Bacon. If you don't know who Kevin Bacon is, then instead of a li…

Alien Swarm is being given away on Steam. A remake of the original and from the makers of L4D I believe. It's a top down, action, 4 player co-op game. I've played for several hours and it is pretty addicting. You'll die a few times (lots if you're on hard, even more on insane) but it just makes you want to figure out what builds to use and what strategies to have to finish each level. http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/

My lovely ladies and gentlemen of these boards, As many of you have noticed, our recent Overlord, Emperor, has been conspicuously (and sadly) absent from almost all things DM recently. Since he is currently the TV Tsar and moderator of the TV subboard, it has fallen upon me to pick up his lack of activity in regards to updating news. It's getting harder for me to do this, as much as I love bringing TV news to the masses. So, I have decided it is time for this torch of love to pass on to another, more active, but no less media loving, fortunate from the masses of our beloved Community. So, who is willing to step up and become one of my subcommanders. This per…

After almost two years of work on the opening scripts, HBO has officially greenlighted production of a pilot for their 12-episode adaption of A Game of Thrones, the first volume of George RR Martin's internationally-bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series. George RR Martin will serve as a producer, although he will take a hands-off approach as he works on the final two-and-a-bit novels in the book series. He has an option of writing one episode per season, which he may or may not exercise depending on how work on the books go. With the fifth volume, A Dance with Dragons, nearing completion it is likely IMO he will pen an episode of A Game of Thrones at leas…

I just watched the preview for the new A-Team movie, it looks like its going to be kind of funny. I was afraid that it was a serious attempt at making an A-Team movie but now it seems like a comedy. I was seriously upset when I heard they were making one. I used to watch re-runs everyday when I came home from school, being a bit to young to have seen them when the episodes were new. It was an awesome show and I am kind of intreasted in seeing the movie but I know that it will not be anything like the show. What does anyone else think of it.

Zack Synder ("300," "Watchmen") has confirmed a film adaptation of the sequel to "300" is moving considerably along. "We [he and his "300" script collaborator Kurt Johnstad] closed the writing deal on 'Xerxes.' We started writing about a week ago. So we're doing it. It's happening" says Snyder in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. It's expected Snyder will direct but nothing is locked yet. "It's really going to depend on what the studio wants to do and what we do when we finish; I don't have a directing deal in place but we are writing it, so call it intent" says Snyder. Frank Miller's "Xerxes" comic, set to be published in coming months, follows Them…
