For the past 13 years, the gamers of the world have had a joke that was theirs and theirs alone. It was the game of all games, the original bit of vaporware. Of course, we all know this game as Duke Nukem Forever. Long has DNF stood as the standard of outlandishly long development time (ex.: "Damn, they delayed *insert game here* again! At this rate, it'll be published shortly before DNF!"). You all know of what I speak. However, today a truly great joke has passed into legend. Today, it was announced that 3D Realms, developer of the Duke Nukem series, has been shut down. Thirteen years we have laughed and jeered at the hints and screenshots and teaser trailer…

I love early reviews... especially when they uphold my expectations for a movie. This is one I am extremely excited about for 2009.

Poll just to get an idea of how many folks are participating - don't vote yet if you haven't watched yet, but plan to in the next week or two. ^_^ So, what did you think? Like it more or less than other Mel Brooks comedies? Comparisons to other Frankenstein versions? Favorite parts/quotes?

Okay I couldn't find a thread about this in the past couple pages so I figured I'd make a new one. The latest season of House has been interesting to say the least. If you don't want spoilers, then stop reading. So having Kutner die was of course, ZOMG WOW. And now it seems that the effect is that House is having visions of Amber. Odd, yes. I was talking to someone about this and they were like "well it sucked because they didn't show the effect that Kutner dying had on the characters" and I was seeing that they did - its like a life goes on, but the small things are whats affected. Now, we have a HUGE impact on House, since, unlike the others, he didn't a…

Two (three?) episodes in and we arent talking about it? Who dropped the ball? Bad Barm! Here is what we know so far through this week. We met a young Charles Whidmore who is a... I have to say it.. a dick. Penny had a baby named Charlie (isn't that sweet). Their is a hydrogen bomb somewhere buried on the island. Richard Alpert is really old while the rest of the others did age (whidmore). Charlotte for some reason can't handle the time jumping. Is it because Farady loves her like his other girl? Hurley went to prison to escape Ben. Kate is on the run again with Aaron.

So, because I'm made of awesome and am better than all of you, I went with Raena tonight and saw Star Trek in theatres. Yes, I am fully aware that it opens tomorrow, just thought I'd rub it in. Anyways, here's my take on it: Amazing, I loved it, and Raena thinks it's the best thing since me (and Canada, but she's loath to admit it). Spock: Quinto got it right, Spock was exactly what I expected, and his ability to show emotion only when he wanted it to was awesome. Plus, he got the hottie. Suck on that Kirk. Scottie: Favourite character probably helps that my man-crush is on that actor already (Hot Fuzz / Shawn of the Dead = hole in the middle of the di…

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2009/05/11/flash-forward.html This has got me excited as all get-out. One of my favourite books from one of my favourite authors--though I'm interested to see whether it lasts more than a single season. It's nice to see a new SciFi concept (the book, at least, is set in the near future with just slightly updated tech).

As said in the thread title, here be Spoilers Ok, everyone who does not want spoilers gone? Ok, ets get to the movie ;D I have a bit of a hard time making up my mind about this movie. They have taken some shortcuts with the script that, while they work, distract a bit, at least if you are familiar with the comic book mythology. As an action movie, it works nicely. It is fast-paced, with some really nice fighting scenes. Gambits encounter with Logan is awesome. Not so impressed by the final showdown though, with Weapon XI (Deadpool). Giving him all those abilities was a bit much. A fight that is absolutely hilarious is Logan boxing against The Blob (whom …

My mother has been on a Western kick lately - well at least the Movie channels we watch have been, so I've been thinking about it. Yesterday was "The Magnificent Seven" and the day before that was some movie with Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda (as the bad guy) and before that was something else. So, what are some other Westerns worth watching? Also, we don't really have Westerns being made nowadays. Any thoughts on that? It just strikes me as interesting. I personally love Westerns since I was raised watching them and my parents caught like EVERY SINGLE John Wayne movie.

I have no idea when I will get to see this. Netflix has no date for release and I never saw it in the theatres here (not even the independent small ones downtown). Oh, and do not expect this movie to be nominated for an Oscar... foreign or otherwise. It is ok to blame Sweden for this because it is their fault for not offering up for consideration.

Time to resurrect this thread, only cuz I want to hear everyone's thoughts on what they think is going to happen. I've decided not to hide these spoilerific questions since, if you haven't seen this weeks episode by now you're not a true fan and don't deserve to have it be a surprise. :P Is the showdown between Sylar and Peter going to result in Peter's self-destruction as he absorbs all of the powers Sylar has already stolen? How was Sylar able to control the super hearing power? By the way, I love how they made some of these powers actually quite inconvenient for the people that have them, such as the super hearing. You just never really think about how somethi…

Lots of Fallout news broke yesterday. First off, there was this preview of Broken Steel, which picks up after the end of the first game and expands the level cap to Level 30. It looks like a very solid expansion and I'm looking forward to it. It is released on 5 May. Secondly, in an impressive display of circular reasoning, Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment (Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights II) have joined forces to produce Fallout: New Vegas. This will be a stand-alone RPG 'spin-off' from Fallout 3, likely using the same engine but with a new story. Think of the relationship between GTA3 and Vice City. Obsidian are, of course, the successor …

So today I've recieved three Happy 420 text messages, and this evening I have three less contacts on my cell phone than I did this morning. *nod* Now to avoid a four to five paragraph diatribe on why I can't stand pot smokers (or really drug use in general (mostly because I have absolutely no moral ground to stand on in any situation :P)) I'll just get right into this weeks installment of the report. Entertainment News Twitter... how does this word hit you? Would you consider yourself a big fan of the medium or do you think it's the worst thing to happen to the internet since R.Kelly? Whatever your personal feeling about the medium *cough*itsucks*cough* it …

Anyone else watching this on Sci Fi? I mean it is reality but still pretty cool because it is a bunch of gamer geeks. What is funny is that I am better than some of these people at gaming.

Why aren't we talking about this!!! So Gaeta ends up a slimy bastard. He has caused a mutiny and displaced Adama. The President is finally back in action after taking a mini vacation in Adama's bed. The Cylons want rights. I have been thinking about the whole mutiny thing. While I love the story concept, I had a hard time believing that Adama's crew would turn on him like this. Then I remembered the Pegasus crew... they are not as loyal as those that have served on BSG. No way Adama and Sol are dead either, that was just a flash bang.

I have discovered the wonders of game emulators. The only one I have successfully gotten installed and functioning on my computer though is the visual boy advance for game boy advance games. What I really want is a emulator for the original Sony playstation a.k.a. PSX PS1. I have tried getting one on my computer but I can't figure it out. It was actually called PSX if I remember right. Do you think any of you could help me out?
