I hope you never need to use this plan, but it's sometimes wise to be prepared. If anything unforeseen should occur, I'll have my son post the details in The Gwampy Thread in Fiddlesticks. So, if you're concerned about me for some reason, check there. I try to post in that thread each day...if all is well, you should see me spamming away normally...otherwise, there should be a post from my son telling why I'm not and when I'll be back. This will save trying to post in all of the org sites. Love, Gramps.

I'll start with two different performances of the same piece. J. S. Bach: BWV 540, Toccata and Fugue in F Major Played by Ton Koopman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9geCEvIV9Y&fmt=6 Played by Ulrich Bohme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQi3d4dYvO8&feature=related A toccata is a piece designed to show how good the performer is. These are both good performances of this toccata. It is basically divided into two sections. First, it starts with a long pedal point (long held note) in the bass on F over which a canon is constructed. (Canon: you know Pachelbel's Canon? Each violin plays the same thing, but not at the same time. Simila…

The first trailer from BSG spin-off Caprica can be seen here. Caprica is set 51 years before the destruction of the Twelve Colonies. At this time the Colonies have only recently emerged from a period of intercine conflict and are uneasily moving towards unification. At the same time, there are tremendous advances going on in AI and cybernetics, particularly under Daniel Greystone's company. When Greystone's daughter is killed in a terrorist bombing on a subway train (shades of 7-7 for us Brits), he becomes friends with another father who lost their daughter in the attack: lawyer Joseph 'Adams' (an immigrant from Tauron who keeps his true name - 'Adama' - secret to av…

So, in a line of "Caddy's attempt to keep things moving while Emp and Yv are away" posts, I put forth a request for opinions on all things M. Night Shymalan. He is the director of great movies such as The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, as well as debated quality movies such as Signs, The Village, and Lady in the Water. He is working on a new movie called The Happening, which is "a paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity" (imdb). Mark Wahlberg will star, with John Leguizamo joining as his best friend (AICN). Also according to AICN, the threat is something about trees and/or plants fighting back aga…

While both JD and Empy lick wounds and injured pride, I'll step up to the mantle to bring the latest news after a few weeks without any news on the Fantasy Football world. Much has happened since Week 8, which was probably the last time either Empy or JD won. The season is drawing close to the play-offs, so a lot was to play for in Week 12. Corki's No Hopers (7-5) Vs. Boyo's Soy Bombers (10-2) The two form teams of the league clashed in Week 12, with Corki's form of late being pretty good and putiing him right back into play-off contention. Strong performances by QB Peyton Manning and WR Anthony Gonzalez gave Corki a lead going into Monday night football. WR Grad J…

“Rome” mastermind Bruno Heller (currently masterminding the freshman CBS smash “The Mentalist”) says Lucius Vorenus survived the final season of HBO's “Rome,” and that Heller is in talks to bring Vorenus and his pal Titus Pullo to the big screen. But now that Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra are all rotting away in Hell, with what would the movie deal? Heller might offer a clue in this excerpt from an interview with James Hibberd of the Hollywood Reporter: "I discovered halfway through writing the second season the show was going to end," Heller said. "The second was going to end with death of Brutus. Third and fourth season would be set in Egypt. Fifth was going to…

So I made the wife go see this with me over the weekend. Seeing the previews, I had an idea of what to expect. Also since Nicole Kidman is only capable of playing one character in all of her films, I know what to expect from her. She did not let me down. So what did you think Empy? I personally thought it was a pretty pile of dog dookie that smelled nice. Ok it wasn't that bad. Nicole Kidman was terrible, but I am may be biased because I think she is a bad actress. She over acts her character and I never felt connected to her. Therefore the love story between her and Jackman was lost on me. Jackman was decent... but the direction of his character was n…

Sure why not. I am putting off work a little after a busy week. This is usually my opportunity to read up on movie, tv and gaming news. So far today I have read a semi-ok review of Twilight that basically says what I already knew. It is worse than the book, with sub par special effects and alright acting. Really the movie was made for teenage girls. I will still see it sometime... not sure if I want to fight long lines of rabid teen girls (and Barm) to watch this though. Next up I read a review for Australia. Now the only reason I am even remotely interested in this is due to the fact it has some Oscar buzz. But I kind of dislike the 'actor' that calls hersel…

Yes, yes... I do love guessing about the movies that are must sees in regards of Oscar nods. Below is my listing for Best Picture. Best Picture: 1 Revolutionary Road Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet April and Frank Wheeler are a young, thriving couple living with their two children in a Connecticut suburb in the mid-1950s. Their self-assured exterior masks a creeping frustration at their inability to feel fulfilled in their relationships or careers. Frank is mired in a well-paying but boring office job and April is a housewife still mourning the demise of her hoped-for acting career. Determined to identify themselves as superior to the mediocre sprawl of …

This is my first real thread so I hope something like it hasn't already been made. I wanted to hear you guys thoughts on the best games on the Super Nintendo. This console hosted some of the greatest games of all time in my opinion, here is my list of the top 5 games: 5) Final Fantasy 3 One of the greatest RPG's ever, with tear jerking moments to getting enraged at Kefka, this game was an unforgettable journey. 4) Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest Actually, this game and number three could be tied, I like them both a lot. Diddy Kongs quest had some sweet music to go with amazing gamplay. 3) Super Mario World I still play this game du…

Ok... so I took Friday off work and stood in line with the other kids on Thursday night to get my game early. I am old, so staying up late to play a video game is mostly behind me, but I made an exception for this one as I loved the first game. So my thoughts of a weekend filled with Gears... I am a multiplayer fan. It is why I play the Xbox over the PS3. I have friends I routinetly meet up with just to play MP. In Gears 1, you searched for games and chose which game to join up with. You could spend all night playing in the same room without much interruption. Sure there might be some Host advantage... and that was annoying. But now you have a Halo 2 like matchma…

Is this how you do things? Erm... so, I went to the premiere of What just happened (Robert De Niro, Bruce Yipikaye Motherlover Willis,...) and I've got to say, I felt de-ja-vus left and right like the entire matrix was in need of an overhaul. I mean, anybody seen "Any given sunday" before? Same thing, only this one, aint nearly as good. I liked Willis though, and the boob on that nymfo from the bar was spectacular -_-
