It was hard to tear myself away from my new TV and Xbox 360, but I could not interrupt my new Friday afternoon tradition of checking out the latest movies in the theatre. Today was the new Fast and the furious movie. I admit, after seeing the second film, I had my expectations set low for this movie. However, fast cars and hot women will always entice me enough to get me into the movie. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Such as with the first movie, I immediately wanted to see if I could make my car drift on the way home. However, since I love my car (06 Eclipse) and have respect for others property (mailboxes, telephone poles and houses) I kept it reason…

Instead of posting lots of different threads... here are some short news stories from around the entertainment world. Captain America - Joe Johnston, the man who gave us the Rocketeer, is directing the film. Here is a quote from the Hollywood Reporter "This is a guy who designed the vehicles for 'Star Wars,' who storyboarded the convoy action sequence for 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' " Feige said. "From 'Rocketeer' to 'October Sky' to 'The Wolfman,' you can look at pieces of his movies and see how they lead to this one." Life - The TV show has been picked up for a full second season. Lost - Moving back to Wednesday night 9pm time slot. Premiere is Jan 21st…

Hi guys. Figured I would post this weeks update as I know everyone is on their toes waiting for an update. On their toes... that makes no sense to me... Should I get to the game you all care about... Justen vs. Empy or wait.... Yeah... wait is what I thought too. Empy's Bro vs. Seggie - Poor poor Seggie. I thought this team looked so promising at the beginning of the year but the boy can't catch a break. It is extremely hard to win when both your starting RBs are hurt or nonexistant on their team. That would be the case fo Warrick Dunn and McFadden. Sitting the returning Willie Parker and Boldin really hurt this week. I would really suggest putting th…

Each of the Big Three networks premieres a show tonight based on a show airing overseas. NBC has “Kath & Kim,” and CBS has “The Eleventh Hour” and ABC has “Life On Mars.” The tale of a New York cop magically transported by an automotive mishap from 2008 to 1973, “Mars” is particularly notable as the first ongoing TV series to star movie actor Harvey Keitel. Michael Imperioli (“The Sopranos”) and Gretchen Mol (“Girls Club,” “3:10 To Yuma”) are along for the ride as well. The pilot pushes a lot of the same intellectual ` buttons “Mad Men” does, reminding us of how thoroughly American life has changed in just a few decades. Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec…

A new fantasy series from producer Sam Raimi (“Hercules,” “Xena”) and writer-producer Kenneth Biller (“The X-Files,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Smallville”), “Legend of the Seeker” is a new hourlong fantasy series based on the Terry Goodkind novel “Wizard’s First Rule.” It’s about a woodsman-turned-magical-leader who joins a mysterious woman to stop a bloodthirsty tyrant. Bruce Spence, who played the pilot in the “Mad Max” movies, plays a wizard named Zedd. The critics seem less than thrilled: Newsday says: … Raimi and Tapert have sleepwalked through the pilot. Viewers can only hope they awaken during the next 20 or so episodes. … The Boston He…

Since it's absence has been noted and since Empy refuses to carry the mantle on this one I (your devoted JD) will make the Fantasy Football Recap a reality once again here after a very exciting week 8. Whitecloak Warriors (4-4) Vs. Yard Chiefs (2-6) In my disdain for the Yard Chiefs ability to field a real time I was going to go without a defense and kicker this week, but then I realized I didn't know what the playoff tiebreaker was (if it's overall points scored I need to field a full team every week, as I'm right on the playoff bubble) so I added Joe Nedney (SF 49ers) at kicker. Well, Nedney scored 9 unnecessary points and my team was once again led by the …

Apparantly the 'Chan don't have a fantasy basketball league, so the Team Diablos was forced to take it's act on the road into a dirty community league at Yahoo (I mean really people, I could pick up some sort of virus or something). Anywhoo I just participated in my league's LIVE draft (which is how all fantasy league's should be conducted (auto-draft is a copout and doesn't make for a true fantasy league...Emp.) Here's my team. Chris Paul (I had the first pick in our twelve team league) Carmelo Anthony (had to rep the Cuse for the 24th pick) Pau Gasol (at 25) Michael Redd (48) LaMarcus Aldridge (49) Tony Parker (72) Andrei Kirilenko (73) O.J. M…

If you've ever played Resistance: Fall of Man, while the main story was up there with the top fps campiegns, everyone knows when it comes to FPS's like Resistance, and Halo, its all about the multi-player. Personally I didn't like Resistance's multi-player. It was basically your run of the mill team death match, and regular death match... Sure its fun a few rounds but after-a-while it starts to have no real substance... That is until you try out Resistance 2's Multi-player. First of all, Resistance 2's Multi-player 'is' missing the 'lobby' that Resistance: Fall of Man had, (though honestly I don't remember one!) Its possible that this lobby just isn't in the…

How super wicked awesome is this: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117993725.html?categoryid=14&cs=1 "V," the 1980s miniseries about alien lizards visiting Earth, will invade primetime once again. ABC is developing a new adaptation of the franchise — which spawned a second mini and TV spinoff — written by "The 4400" co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters. In this case, the new "V" will center on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who’s got problems. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them — causing tension within the family. As in the original "V," several storylines will unfold simultaneously. But even without th…

First of all, let's get some questions out of the way 1.) SEGGY!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Ummm I take these sabbaticals away from DM from time to time and well now is the time. 2.) What brings you back? To talk about by favorite game of course, Halo 3. Now that is out of the way, here is the news: Here is the link if you are wondering: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2008/1008-reconpreview.htm?WText.camp=Games&WText.campSrc=RSS I am excited as I really enjoyed playing Halo 3. The times Empy, Joe, and I were killing everything in site and then listening to Empy trash talk little kids was great.

Passchendaele Most of you will never see this, however for those of you who do go out of your way to find it, its an incredible movie, that is based around events of the Great War, and more specifically, the 3rd battle of Ypres. More specifically, it is based around Canadian soldiers. Now, it is something of a love story, and most of the movie shows events on the home front. However, the whole movie is well done, the cast worked well with each other, the battle scenes were easy to see and realistic. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and would highly recommend seeing it. If you can't see it at your local theatre (which many of you outside of Canada may well no…

Another title added to the long list of survival horror games, but is it really worth it? So fat the reviews seem to be not jus saying yes, but screaming it. Of the scores I've seen I'd say the average is a 95% or 9.5, with the lowest being an 8.7/10. There will be a follow up release of a Dead Space animate film later this month spearheaded by Starz, which will add to the world building and help to establish an immersive experience. Really from what I've seen and heard, the only lament is the lack of multiplayer, which leaves the question; will this be the a bioshock-like maelstrom of awesome or a Star Wars-like whimper of lame? On a side no…

OK so I was inspired and amused by Palin's presence on SNL. It was good humored and genuinely funny. So lets host a Seanchan challenge. Can you spot the impersonator? On a side note I was strongly reminded of the movie "Dave".

Each of the Big Three networks premieres a show tonight based on a show airing overseas. CBS has “The Eleventh Hour,” ABC has “Life On Mars” and NBC has “Kath & Kim.” An unfunny comedy adapted for NBC by writer-producer Michelle Nader (“The King of Queens”), “Kath” is about an appallingly self-absorbed mother-daughter team. The sitcom is teeming with unpleasant characters mouthing terrible jokes. When confronted with the prospect of dancing to hip-hop, Kath’s boyfriend protests, “I wouldn’t want to break a hip. Hop.” Kim says stuff like, “My marriage is over! O.V.U.R.!” (I may be misquoting, but the gags come on a screener I’m determined not to re-watch.) …
