The Harp – Sure, it sounds fun. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play all the Joanna Newsom songs in her catalog? But the harp peripheral that comes with Rock Band is complete bunk. First, there are 175 buttons. So many, in fact, that the colors on the fretboard are nothing but very small shades of each other. If you’re color blind, forget it. Also, the thing weighs, like, 100 pounds. Plus, you need to buy an extra monitor to watch your fretboard, which doesn’t make you feel much like you’re part of the band. And there’s nothing that quite kills the “rock” vibe like Boston’s “Foreplay/Long Time” immediately followed by “Bridges and Balloons.” Triangle: The Rock Band tria…

Now usually I would place my thoughts on a movie I rented in the "what are you watching" thread... but this movie deserves special mention... or warning. I moved this to the top of my queue last week as I try to get a Blu Ray to my house each week. This is harder than you think as there are only like 5 or 6 good movies on Blu Ray... and I have already seen them all. I am old. Well I feel old... and compared to medium age of DMers, I am the ancient wise one you boy down to and feel compelled to carry my groceries across the street. I only mention this painful fact as I generally go to bed early and get up early... even on the weekends. Sleeping in for me is 9am…

As some of you 360 owners know, The Battlefield: Bad Company beta has started. Fileplanet, is all out of public keys, and are now only giving away a limited number of members keys. So, Any 360 Gold Members at Seanchan, want to compete for a free beta key? You have to be A) Gold Member, B) Not already in the beta, C)And you would like to compete for the key. IF only one person wants to compete, its yours. Depending on the number of people who qualify, or want to try out the beta (and aren't already in it), depends on the type of contest. If its two people, it could be a battle of skill or knowledge, or just plain luck.

I am almost done with the first season and find myself loving the show more and more.... “Friday Night Lights” shoots in Austin, but if you wanted to see its cast and creators Wednesday night you had to come to the Paley Fest at Hollywood’s Arclight. My pal, FNL fanatic and TV Guide columnist Mike Ausiello, got to moderate. The series' third season is in doubt, but there are rumors DirecTV might pick up FNL for an exclusive window on its 101 Channel. (If the deal could be worked out, NBC would probably get to air episodes subsequent to DirecTV's exclusive satcasts.) A report on the Paley event:

It's Baaaaaack! I'm gonna TRY to keep up with this recap here if I can. Here's a copy/paste of my thoughts from my Live Journal. Dang it! I missed the first episode! So I'm watching it now at lunch. Ok, so who didn't know that Tyra was gonna bust outta that sign on the stage?? I love this show for it's predictability! There's a couple of Gorgeous girls so far. Amy from Oklahoma is fun. I hope she makes it. She's GOT to be cast for the pure TV entertainment value. Dominique I thought was fantastic until she opened her mouth. That girl's gotta lotta hate. Fatima is AMAZING gorgeous! She just needs that makover for some new hair. I love, thoug…

As the title states, the animated 'movie', or 'short' or whatever you want to call it, is filled with Epic Win. You can download it at http://probertson.livejournal.com/ I haven't found a 'youtube' type version of it, so feel free to search for it. ;)

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51870 I dunno about this one. I've played Planetside which is a MMOFPS but it wasn't a great game. Besides with games like CoD4, R6: Vegas, Halo 3, and UT3, why pay to play an online FPS when you have these free Multiplayer games that can support 16 to 32 players?

, and has signed Rosario Dawson to develop "True Believer," the pilot for a proposed series based on a comicbook she co-created. These were two of the highlights of Sci Fi Channel's upfront presentation Tuesday night at New York City's Morgan Library delivered by David Howe, president of the network. Sci Fi's goal is keep its momentum going through a calibrated mix of scripted original series, first-run reality series, commissioned low-budget movies, reruns of series including "Lost" and "Jericho," theatrical movies and occasional miniseries. Sci Fi said it's bringing back its stunt-reality series "Scare Tactics" with a new host, comedian Tracy Morgan. The netwo…

So this released today and I watched it. It wrapped up the series nicely and was entertaining. Little hokey, but that's what the series had turned into... still good fun, and kept me entertained for approx. two hours.

Of all the racing games ever concieved, GT4 is probably the only 'racing' game I'm actually considering to buy. What is GT5: Prologue? Its the Prologue to Grand Turismo 5, a game that has a very long due date. This site has a few of the screenshots that have been released. As does this. And this. And just some eye candy The game, just looks amazing. Oh yea, and it has online multi-player. ;)

So... being the tech geek that I am, and disguised under the pretense that I need a Blu Ray player, I bought a PS3 over the weekend. I will admit there are some things I need to learn about the system before giving a full and complete comparision, but after a weekend here are my impressions. BTW, I also bought a headset, Unreal Tournament 3 and one Blu Ray movie. Observation 1: Ummm no one talks in the games. This irked me the most. I bought a game that basically only has a multi-player component. It basically looks like a better graphical version of Doom (which isn't a big compliment). I jump into the game with very little prep and... dominate. What? I thin…

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970468/ This weekend my mom came for a visit, so we went and did girly things. We had high tea, we shopped and we went to see a girly movie. We saw Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. This movie was possibly one of the Sweetest love stories I've seen in a long time. There's many sweet chick flicks that we adore, but the one that I always go to when I need a sweet lovely story is Sense and Sensibility directed by Ang Lee. This will be a new GoTo movie for sweet romance. Amy Adams was just a cute as a button. She reprised her "vacant" acting chops from Enchanted, except this time she's not a naieve fairy tale princess, she's a …

I saw The Orphanage the other day. It's a Spanish horror movie that I noticed got some good reviews, so I had to check it out. It was a produced by Guillermo Del Toro, which reminds me I haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth yet. Anyway, the movie follows Laura, her husband Carlos and their adoptive son Simon who have moved in to an old orphanage. Guess what? Simon has invisible friends who wants to play a game. This movie creeped the hell out of me. It was nice to see a horror movie, where the bad guy doesn't show up with a chainsaw after 6 minutes. Yes, 6 minutes. Most of the time, not seeing the baddies and not knowing really who they are is much scarier. I almost pee…

The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd has an interesting rundown of where a lot of the “on the bubble” shows stand. With the networks still reeling from the disarray precipitated by the writers’ strike, things look generally rosy for series with marginal ratings. Here’s how the Reporter breaks it down: PROBABLY BACK: According To Jim Back To You Bones How I Met Your Mother Knight Rider Law & Order Law & Order: Criminal Intent Moonlight Prison Break Scrubs (probably on ABC) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ‘Til Death PROBABLY NOT: Aliens in America Cashmere Mafia Jericho Reaper The situation with “Jericho”…
