So here's the idea of this thread. This is a chance specifically to discuss the various powers of Heroes. To figure out how they work, how they would help or hinder life, which ones you'd want for yourself and so on. The general idea of this thread is to keep it as spoiler free as possible. So if we could refer specifically to the powers we've encountered in the show, and avoid mentioning character's or plot lines or anything else that could affect spoilers. So, of all the powers in the show, empath aside (my favourite one of course) I'm stuck on 3 abilities that I like best. I really don't know which one I'd prefer to have. 1. Ability to affect space/time …

I saw something today about a short Babylon 5 movie released to DVD earlier this year, and a possible sequel in 2008. Did anyone hear about this? It was supposed to feature mainly on just three characters, with a couple more for the next one- mainly because the actors who played G'Kar and the doctor both died a year before they offered to make a real movie on Babylon 5...

*****SPOILERS IN REVIEW***** After the pilot, I'm sold. Its comedy much in the same vein as Dead Like Me, but is much lighter, and somehow somewhat Tim Burton-esque. Think Edward Scissorhands. Great comedy and good grief Jim Dale's voice overs are amazing! Humor is dry and black for as bright and airy the video is, so be warned, and the occasional zombie conversations make it non-kid friendly. I'd say 7.75 out of 10

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (Universal) Starring Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Clive Owen, Samantha Morton, Abbie Cornish Directed by Shekar Kaphur (Elizabeth, The Four Feathers); Written by William Nicholson (First Light, Gladiator), Michael Hirst (Elizabeth, "The Tudors" on Showtime, upcoming 1906) Genre: Historic, Period Piece, Epic Rated PG-13 Tagline: "Before 'The Queen' There Was 'THE QUEEN'!" Plot Summary: Ten years after gaining the crown, the "Virgin Queen" Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) is facing conflict on all sides, from the Spanish King Phil…

The best ... 1. Apocalypse Now -- Helicopter attack Francis Ford Coppola, 1979 "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like victory." Robert Duvall's helicopters wreak bloody destruction upon a Vietnamese village to the strains of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries in order to secure a beachhead for a bit of post-combat surfing. No cinematic moment better captures the folly, absurdity and tragic human cost of America's war against the Vietcong. 2. Saving Private Ryan -- Omaha Beach landing Steven Spielberg, 1998 The graphic depiction of the Omaha beach D-Day landing shocked audiences and even induced flashbacks in Normandy veterans. The shaky…

We Own the Night (Sony) Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, Eva Mendes, Alex Veadov Written and directed by James Gray (The Yards, Little Odessa) Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller Rated R Tagline: "Two brothers on opposite sides of the law. Beyond their differences lies loyalty." Plot Summary: In 1988 Brooklyn, two brothers find themselves on opposite sides of the law. (Which you already know from the tagline above.) Bobby Green (Joaquin Phoenix) is a manager at a popular Russian-owned nightclub who finds himself at odd with his police officer brother Joseph (Mark Wahlberg) who is trying to live up to his chief-of-police father (Robert Du…

I recently rented Heavenly Sword and [lair=http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,22117.msg572349.html#msg572349]Lair[/url] this weekend, Beat Heavenly Sword sometime Sunday night. The story is not very predictable, it tells a tale, and a complex one at that. While there is a 'big baddie' and a 'good goodie' (sorta, you gotta watch the prologue) The story does have some meanings under the currents. Escentially the Story is about this world, and houndeds of years before the story started, there was a war between two clans, good/evil. The 'bad' side was being led by a the Raven King, "Big guy, covered in shadows, possibly having wings". His side was winni…

I rented Lair, as well as Heavenly Sword on Friday, Beat them this weekend/today. Story: With out spoiling much of the story, the story is rather cliche, in the strictist sense that it has been done before. Basically your a knight named Rohn. Your job is basically to defend the skies of Asylia, cause to rule the skies, is to rule the world. Your basically thrown in to the game, as your country gets invaded by the Mokai. You obviously fend them off, and push there troops back. But of course, its not a real story with out, betrayal, deciet, and the gray between black and white. There is no 'big bad evil guy' like the 'dark one' or the big goodietooshoo 'like the cre…

ALL I CAN SAY IS "WOW!" This game is great. The graphics are way better than the previous versions and the gameplay is incredible. Empy and I along with a friend of ours picked up our games at the midnight release and proceeded to play until the early morning. I'm sure Empy will give a review soon.

Shew, I spend so much time writing these and I am busy at work, so I may not do the recap justice this week.... Let's start with the highest scoring game.... Karana and Hax: Looking at both the team players, you see nothing really special... but they had some big players for the week. Favre and Kitna, fantasy duds last year seem to be studs this year and represented their teams with over 20 points. Hax's Chicago defense scored him 35 points while Karana's strong RB core countered that. However the game that was favored toward Hax turned to Karana due to the surprise play of Braylon Edwards. Karana is now trying to make Hax eat his words of "I bet Karana's team…

Yeap, Doctor Who is back on Saturday! The 3rd series starts on Saturday over here in the UK, and I am extremely excited! David Tennant is still the Time Lord, but he has a new assisstant, though her name escapes me at the moment. From the previews I've seen and reviews I've read, it looks like it's gonna be a cracking series!

Looks like the old thread didn't survive the crash... I've been out due to illness (everyone in the family has had the flu and a cold if not both at the same time in the last week. I worked two days last week plus took off Monday, so now I am also totally swamped at work and probably won't be around much at least for rest of this week and who knows how much of next week. So I just popped in to say I haven't forgotten about the Fantasy Baseball and jaunted off somewhere else or anything. Oh, and any new members who want to join up but haven't yet are welcome to join. Just leave a message here saying you want in.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, stars of the original 2001 “Fast and the Furious,” are negotiating to star in the fourth installment of the franchise, according to Wednesday morning’s Hollywood Reporter. Recall that Walker was the star of part two; Diesel cameoed at the end of part three. Director Justin Lin and writer Chris Morgan, who teamed on part three, namely "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," will be back for part four. No word on whether or not the hillbilly kid from "Sling Blade" will play any part.

There’s an early pilot for “Cavemen,” the new sitcom based on the memorable Geico Insurance commercials, that’s been floating around the Internet for months, but will never appear on ABC. It was circulated last week to critics. More than half of the TV critics polled by Broadcasting & Cable last month picked it as the worst new show of the fall season. Worse than “K-Ville,” “Big Shots,” “Private Practice” and “Carpoolers.” The first episode airing tonight, which features new cast members and an entirely new plot, was not made available to TV critics. Empy will not be tuning in as he sees little potential in this show. Please post a review if you watch it.

A sitcom with big laughs, a big heart and the insanely milfy Amy Pietz from writer-producers Moses Port & David Guarascio (“Mad About You,” “Just Shoot Me”), “Aliens in America” tells the tale of a nerdly Wisconsin high school outcast who finds his stock rising after his family hosts a good-natured and devout Muslim Pakistani exchange student. “Aliens” is paired with “Everybody Hates Chris” and airs opposite “Chuck,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Prison Break” and “Dancing With The Stars.” No one is going to watch it (because, I ask rhetorically, who doesn’t enjoy Mark Cuban doing the Rhumba?), but I do look forward to whatever Port & Guarascio conjure next, hopef…

Masterminded by “Kids in the Hall” player Bruce McCulloch, “Carpoolers” is a sitcom about four guys who commute to work together. It stars Jerry O’Connell (“Crossing Jordan”), Jerry Minor (“Life With Louie”), Fred Goss (“Sons & Daughters”), Tim Peper (“Guiding Light”), Allison Munn (“What I Like About You”) and Faith Ford (“Hope & Faith”). It is the least funny, most annoying sitcom of the fall season. Even the viewers who complain most adamently that reality shows are crowding scripted fare off the air may run screaming into the arms of “Kid Nation” after sampling this misery. USA Today gives it one star (out of four) and says: Is ABC trying to kill th…

I was pretty distracted throughout this whole show. But what I saw was pretty funny or entertaining. I will most likely watch it again. A dustbuster? Seriously? That was pretty funny. As was their uniforms they put together. What was the blinkey thing? Was it a fire alarm?

“Dirty Sexy Money” reunites two “Six Feet Under” vets: writer-producer Craig Wright, who created the new series, and star Peter Krause. Krause's many co-stars include Billy Baldwin, Samaire Armstrong, Jill Clayburgh and Donald Sutherland. It’s a comedy-drama about a lawyer named Nick George who inherits his late lawyer father’s only client: the very rich Darling family, whose members are always behaving badly. They snort coke, they pop pills, they swill liquor, they fuck trannies, they spawn illegitimate offspring. If they’re not transparently evil pricks, they’re insanely self-absorbed. It’s funny, it’s edgy, it’s compelling, it’s sexy and it’s well-acted. It’…

It's a vampire show. Yay!!! No, seriously. I love vampires. This show got terrible reviews. It wasn't Great. But it wasn't horrible, either. Well, I guess my love for vampires COULD possibly make me a little biased. After all, I did really enjoy the Kindred series. And that was awful. So, there's a small resemblance to Ann Rice's tortured Louis in this detective. And there's claim that it is a rip off of Forever Knight. I never saw that one, so I can't say. There's also some terrible acting. But, honestly, I think that has more to do with bad directing than bad acting. I mean, Sophia Myles is a good actress. And yet most of her lines were awful …

A dim and mercilessly unfunny dramedy from writer-producer Jon Harmon Feldman (“Dawson’s Creek,” “Tru Calling,” “Reunion”), “Big Shots” is about a quartet of powerful executives who like to yammer about their personal lives at the same country club. It may be clueless when it comes to eliciting laughs, but on the plus side it does has the distinction of being the second pilot ABC will air in the span of 25 hours that features as one of its main characters a powerful and prominent alpha male trying to cover up his affair with a transsexual. If “Big Shots” is not quite the worst new pilot on the networks this autumn, it nestles comfortably among the bottom two. …
