We know the show had 4 different directors for season 1, each one of them got two episodes. And one of the most recent news is about this Sanaa Hamri being director for the last part of season 2. i already dropped a question in that news, but i got no answer, so I'm asking here because I'm ignorant on the details of making movies and this genuinely sparked my curiosity: why do they have so many directors? wouldn't it be better to always have the single one? even if the director only directs the actors as they enact the script, he's got a lot of power, and he'll leave his imprint in everything. camera angles, lights, all that kind of thing. plus, in a…

Suddenly Balthamel jerked in the Green Man's grasp. The Forsaken's hands tried to push him away instead of clutching him. One gloved hand flung wide ... and a tiny creeper burst through the black leather. A fungus, such as rings trees in the deep shadows of the forest, ringed his arm, sprang from nowhere to full-grown, swelling to cover the length of it. Balthamel thrashed, and a shoot of stinkweed ripped open his carapace, lichens dug in their roots and split tiny cracks across the leather of his face, nettles broke the eyes of his mask, deathshead mushrooms tore open the mouth. The Green Man threw the Forsaken down. Balthamel twisted and jerked as all the things …

Warning: spoilers if you haven't read EotW. For me, my top 10 (not necessarily in order) that I'm really excited to see in the show is: 1) Winternight: Lan fighting Trollocs. Pretty sure this has got to be in episode 1 right?! 2) How they portray the One Power being used: are we gonna see it in Episode 1 from Moiraine's POV? 3) Shadar Logoth: I hope it's horrifying! Likely episode 2 " Shadow waiting" ? Right? 4) What they do with Logain: there's quite a bit they could creatively add without actually ticking off fandom. Logain was an interesting and important character that we could have gotten more from earlier…

Ok so Obviously that title is clickbait central LMAO. Its a post about Tar Valon. First off... the thing that dragged me down this rabbit hole. As a "PRO" regarding the trailer - one that most people might not even care about, to me speaks to the quality of the team making the visuals... The two bridges below - are designed DIFFERENTLY. Much like how a real city would evolve over time and not all bridges would be copy paste you can see their design differs based on age most likely. One being older than the other. I love the attention to detail! However I must admit I am a might confused about the orienting and …

Just curious to know what everyone is doing because I haven't reread the series in a few years and I'm purposely not rereading it so it stays kind of blurry in my memory to make the changes in the show less jarring. I have a notoriously bad memory (I've been known to forget the entire plot of a novel by the time the sequel comes out a few years later) so I'm hoping it'll work in my favor this time and I'll be able to enjoy the show without constantly noticing all the ways it deviates from the source material. The downside, of course, is that I'll probably miss details and subtle hints, but I know there'll be no shortage of fans analyzing every second of every episode on h…

Will showrunners allow any of the main characters to complete story arc without a relationship? For example will Egwene complete arc only having limited romance with Rand if Gawyn is cut. Or Perrin if Faile/Laila are killed or never materialize. This could be an interesting hero journey if they do. Or would that be anti-woke having lead female not have time for love because she is saving the world. ?

Another trailer will be on its way eventually. Rafe has said it will be longer. What was missing from the first trailer that you would want to get a glimpse of before the first episodes are released?

Wheel of Time Showrunner Rafe Judkins did an impromptu Q&A on his Instagram today to celebrate the announcement that Amazon has officially greenlit Season 2 of the Wheel of Time. In addition to confirming that Season 2 has been officially greenlit, Judkins provided some other exciting nuggets for Wheel of Time fans: (1) Episodes will be 50-65 minutes in length. (2) The Warders "color shifting cloaks" will not be part of the series due to the prohibitive cost of using that much CGI. (The same goes for the "ageless" appearance of the Aes Sedai. (3) The Trolloc footage that was accidentally released by the Ger…

I saw that Lews Therin appears to have been cast and apparently actor has a good grasp on the old tongue. This doesn't look substantiated yet. CaddySedai being in my head on another thread got me thinking of Lews. Any way we might see actual Lews in some way during Rand's internal arguments? Possibly speaking old tongue with subtitles. I know this would be incredibly difficult to do without becoming irritating or cheesy. Can't decide if this might be way to create this dynamic. Even a voice over in old tongue might be cool.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I was thinking about Kerene's death and how it might tie in to the events of the books. In the books, Kerene is murdered by the Black Ajah but passed off as an accident. In the show, it seems her death will tied to Logain, probably in that scene from the trailer where he breaks his shield. I wonder if it'll still be caused by the Black Ajah somehow. For example, could one of the Aes Sedai holding Logain (Liandrin?) help Logain escape by messing with his shield? It would fit with some of the leaked audition tapes where Liandrin is arguing that Logain should be gentled on the spot. If she's been unsuccessful at convincing the …

I must have missed something, or maybe the casting hasn’t happened yet, but I haven’t heard anything on Verin being cast or the show’s plan for the character. For me, Verin was a fascinating character who stole the spotlight in every chapter she was in. Then the big reveal! That solidified her as an all time great secondary character for me (right up there with the Onion Knight and Gollum). I hope she is showcased properly, whatever the show runner’s plan is.

I assume making Lan look a little younger is about shrinking the age gap between Nyn and him. Their relationship is too important to series to be unbelievable. Then it occurred that possibly having some eye candy for female viewers may be part of marketing to larger female demographic. Does anyone know how viewership breaks down for fantasy shows between male/female viewers? I get making changes but man I wanted the craggy soldier Lan. At least they could give him some facial scars or something.

I think the solitary thing this teaser is meant to accomplish - it's only purpose - is to make people who are not aware of (much less invested in) the Wheel of Time think to themselves, "that looks interesting, I might check that out." The purpose of the next offering will be to change that opinion from "I might check that out" to "I'm definitely going to watch that." Even so, this trailer does a fantastic job of giving people a general idea of what the story is about, the concept of the One Power, and the epic nature of the story. I think they also did a superlative job of weaving in some major foreshadowing elements. Putting aside issues about the colors, o…

So much of what happens in a book happens inside a characters head. This doesn’t always translate well on the screen. Have there been instances where a movie or tv series has actually made the internal dialogue audible and it been done well? I think we lose so much of richness of the story if we don’t see it from multiple POVs or simply from a narrator POV.

Just a few Q, but thought the following were interesting: 1. Rafe, who’s Idea was it to have Mat have a beard? Rafe Judkins: We aged up the Emond’s Field Five from the books because sometimes TV shows with a bunch of 17 year olds as leads feel more like YA and Wheel of Time isn’t YA 2. Will The World of Dreams be in the show? Rafe Judkins: How could you do the show without it? 3. Can we expect to see any of the Forsaken in s1? Rafe Judkins: It depends on how much you know about the Forsaken 1 Very happy about this answer 2 We'd discussed this one here months back, and I'm glad to see confirmation it will be…

I cribbed this topic from a video done by Nae'blis today (follow that link for his video, you'll see this post as a comment on that video as well). Dear Rafe, The first thing I want to see isn't something to see, but something to hear: I want to be able to close my eyes and without having watched any previous episodes of the show (and at any point in the hopefully long run of the show), be able to immediately identify where a character is from by their accent alone. This means I expect the characters to have the accents appropriate to their home region as delineated by Robert Jordan himself; Illianers should sound Dutch, Seanchan should sou…

We now know that Logain will be a major figure in Season One of the TV adaptation. I'm interested in what they intend to do with him and how they intend to tell the story of his capture and gentling - all of which happens "off screen" in the novels. Logain is a perfect character to spend time with in Season One. He's a male channeler and a false Dragon. That gives the writers the opportunity to develop themes about the Dragon, the prophecies, and the taint. But what will that story be? We also know that the casting agency that supplies extras for WoT has been searching for babies since early on in filming. The call for babies was renewed recently (and all appe…

In case you missed it, Brandon Sanderson sat down for a live interview on the Dusty Wheel. (Here's a link to the video) I thought there were a couple of important takeaways for people who are worried about the quality of the adaptation. He says that the Wheel of Time adaptation is "in very good hands" with Rafe Judkins at the helm, noting that Judkins is "very dedicated to the Wheel of Time." Once he recognized that he could view this as another turning of the Wheel (as opposed to filming the books), he was able to focus on three questions: (1) Does the show get the souls of the characters right?; (2) Is the narrative good?; and (3) is it a good introduct…

"The Wheel of Time, a series adaptation of the bestselling novels by Robert Jordan about a clan of female magicians starring Rosamund Pike." Well, that's one way to describe it, I guess. https://www.engadget.com/amazon-comic-con-at-home-panel-160011649.html
