I just finished season 2, it's been a rollercoaster. So much is wrong, but... I loved it, I literally cried, to see the story I've loved for so long, finally, on TV. I've waited, from the beginning for this. It was broken, but... Beautiful!

I'm not sure when they announced the screens last season, but they should be announced soon if they are gonna happen this year? Are any of you sleuths on it? Thanks!

Out of all of the castings, Lanfear is the one I think will cause the most controversy, almost no matter who is cast. Finding someone whos is the most beautiful woman ever is just... impossible. On top of that, she really has to be able to act, be the right age and preferable look a little bit like she is described in the books (although I think this is least important). And it has to be an actress they can afford and that is available, which means that most big names are out. It can't be someone who is innocently pretty, nor someone who is just pure sex appeal. For fun, I'd like to see all of your ideal Lanfears! Both unrealistic castings and fully achieveab…

WoT has been a part of my life twice as long as my wife has, and 4x as long as my oldest kid. Just for some context. I made a dragonmount login after wotmania closed down and they encouraged everybody to register here. When I met RJ at a signing he thrilled me by going super deep into the implications of the Dark One breaking all the way free, and I wish I could have another conversation with him because I think my question poked at where he ended up going and he didn't give me a RAFO but he kind of fudged a bit 😄... anyways, I have thoughts. When they announced an Amazon series, I like everybody was thrilled. Finally, we can see this come to life. RJ had pass…

Hello, new to the forums. Read the series twice. Love it. Browsed the forums a handful of times foe info on stuff. I am just so upset and almost insulted by how poor the show is I need to vent so a place where people might understand. The way they ruined so many good characters just hurts me. I have no problem with adaptation and changes no show can be exact to a series and truthfully it rarely should be. They are different mediums and require different approaches. This being said, their writing of Lan, Mat, and even Nyneve to a point is infuriating. Mat is just.... awful, where is our playful trickster with insane luck? Inst…

I'm so confused. When I first saw the front page post I thought immediately that Luke Featherston was Galad. He looks like a tall/dark/mysterious model-type. And Callum Kerr looks very comedic in this shot, so I figured, must be Gawyn. But it's the opposite?? Looks can be deceiving though, and I haven't seen previous work from either of them. Obviously both are really good looking dudes. What do you all think of this new round of casting choices?

I've struggled to put into words why the show feels 'off' from the books. I really don't care about the heavier focus on Moiraine, writing out some of the gender-essentialism, and I'll even forgive them for floundering around and being unable to really explain the Forsaken or the Power in any way that makes sense. After watching S2, it's not so much the changes as the direction they've pushed the show in. All the changes made it Grim N Gritty, like those bad early 90s comics where Spider-Man lurked in the shadows and said "I become the spider!" or Batman got his back broken and then appointed a psychopath to be his replacement. I finally put my fin…

I'm curious on people's thoughts regarding Fallout. I have to say I'm enjoying a lot more than other Amazon shows such as WOT and the Ring of Power. Ring of Power is ok, but I find it disappointing considering its huge budget. Something with that large of a budget should have a better story. Is it simply because of the topic or is there something other series could learn from it? I know some issues WOT has to deal with is being based off books and Game of Thrones comparisons? GOT was made with the plan of putting it on TV where RJ never considered a WOT series when he started writing it. It just seems to me that everything with Fallout just seems better, the CGI, …

It hurt me on so many levels. The ONLY good thing about the entire episode was the reveal of Moghediean, that scene was amazing. Was s2 better than s1? In some ways. But that's like saying getting punched in the face is better than getting hit with a sledge hammer. Neither is good. I want to focus on two of the most awful parts, at least to me. The worst of the worst was Mat blowing the horn. He runs into a line of soldiers just standing on a rooftop waiting for no reason while the city is in chaos? That might be one of the laziest pieces of writing and direction I've ever seen in my life. Rand still feels like a side chara…

WARNING: SPOILERS for the whole series Rumors on the street are that Matrim Cauthon is going to be involved in the Tanchico storyline in Season 3. Some people have suggested that they are going to combine the Tanchico storyline with the Ebou Dar storyline from the books. This makes little sense to me unless they truncate the plotlines for all of the other major characters as well. This is driven (IMO) by the possibility that the show will not be renewed for a full 8 seasons, which has not yet been greenlit. If Rafe is told to wrap it up by season 4 or 5, then they will need to move quickly, and combining Ebou Dar with Tanchico will make it easier to do so. I…

Prediction: The showrunners will reveal Moiraine already had her angreal. And whatever she is doing can be easily explained. Honestly it would make sense for this version to have the angreal. I hope they address this. Is it a cop out? I don't know, but for real, they need to explain Moiraine's ability. And bring that storyline from book 13. They need to establish she IS NOT as strong as the girls (Egwene, Elayne, Aviendha) let alone Nynaeve! They need to make it clear because the audiences are not aware of it at all.

How far out of the realm of possibility would it be for a serious fan to acquire the rights to the screen adaptation and recreate the tv series in a way that portrays the book as the author intended, rather than how the screenwriter thinks their "improved and politically corrected version" should portray the story? Seriously.

To begin with let me apologize in advance I went on a rant about what seems to me to be a lopsided equality issue. I have strong opinions about what character development actually is and, when a fantasy series I love is turned upside down and, poor writing replaces excellent writing, I tend to rant. I'd like to point out that there was representation though minor of the LBTGQ community in the books, however minor that role may have been. However, personal relationships all played a minor role. The relationships were there but, only a small part of the novels. It was a different time and, both Robert Jordan and, Brandon Sanderson saw that there should be repres…

This appeared in one of my feeds today - it seems like there is a WoT time spinoff animation in the works https://winteriscoming.net/2023/10/19/dc-alum-jay-oliva-direct-animated-the-wheel-of-time-movie-the-white-tower/ That puzzled me as it didn't appear to be linked with Amazon. A little internet sleuthing led me to discover that Red Eagle sold the rights to the book series storyline to Amazon but apparently "still have the rights to untold stories in the Wheel of time Universe and timeline". The Cursed Wheel Of Time Movie You Were Never Supposed To See (screenrant.com) Apparently, there were even older news about a 3 part animated Mo…

I understand that fantasy cities in movies are meant to look good, to provide striking visuals, not to be particularly realistic. still, would it really kill the production to show some farmland around? so far we had 3 cities shown: tar valon was placed in the middle of mountains, with no single sign of human presence outside of it. fal dara instead was in the desert. and now falme, also desert. what is it about a nice green grassland that makes it so unsuitable to settling a major city? are fields of wheat or corn so ugly that the production must eschew them at all cost? my poor suspension of disbelied is suffering.

Maria Doyle Kennedy (who plays Ila, the Tinker lady), is the lead in a new South African series. (I'm South African, in case anyone wondered :P) She plays Tannie Maria (Aunty Maria), a food writer turning agony aunt in a small town. https://www.capetalk.co.za/articles/441202/meet-the-irish-star-bringing-karoo-s-tannie-maria-to-life-in-new-m-net-series I just watched the 1st episode of this, and it was quite charming. The sound was a bit bad here and there, to the point where we couldn't understand what people were saying (especially on the local people speaking my own language!), which is a letdown. Apparently the rest of you will …

I think Berelain could be cut without changing the plot much. She doesn’t have much impact on the plot and when she does it could be argued to be some of the worst moments in the series. This whole rivalry with Faile was one of my least favorite parts of the series and there isn’t really a point to it in my opinion. Every reader knows that Perrin won’t cheat on his wife and there isn’t some grande resolution that justifies wasting so much time on her. Add to that that much of this happens during the hostage plot which is also one of my (and many other people’s) least favorite parts and I think cutting Berelain might the show better. What do you peo…

I (finally) finished watching season 2 and have been thinking about Moiraine's arc, which, along with giving her and Lan more to do at this point in the story, also reveals some interesting nuances. Moiraine's reaction is very Aes Sedai: meekly accept what has happened and move forward. This attitude is definitely a problem for the Aes Sedai in the books, and a big reason why their use of the OP has stagnated. By contrast, Lan's reaction is very Malkieri; keep fighting despite the (supposed) certainty of defeat. On a related note, knotting weaves is a lost (or very rare) skill, which is a nice, non-flashy way to emphasize how much more skill/knowle…

What do you guys think of Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin ? I love the actor and she's been my headcanon for last few years now. I don't know how I connected her with Verin, but i think i saw some speculation online and as soon as I saw her I was sold. To me she is the perfect blend of motherly(remember the guy who told her eyes reminded him of his mother 😅?) and mysterious. Also, as I have been picturing Shohreh as Cadsuane, and as they're both from Far Madding, picturing another brown woman as Verin made sense to me. It has been a delight to see her and Tomas on screen, however short a time 🙄 (thanks Rafe, not). What do you think of her …
