Now that we have seen Season 2, it would be interesting to revisit some of the important Season 1 creative decisions to see how they look after an additional year. Would we have argued over them for months (and months and months) if we knew what was coming? 1. Who is the dragon - this was always a Season 1 issue with no effect on Season 2 2. Lack of Tam and Rand's backstory - Poor to incomplete It had no effect on Season 2 and we don't know what effect it will have in future seasons (if any). TBF, Rand's anguish about not being Tam's son was pure POV that couldn't be filmed. In neither the book nor the series did he have someone to …

I’ve heard a bunch of respected commentators say that if Amazon would just give them more time they’d do a better job. Here’s why I don’t think that is the case: #1. They did a better job in S2 than S1 with choosing a more compelling season theme line… rather than “Who is the Dragon?” It seemed to me that it was “Who is a friend & who is a Darkfriend?” But still - they didn’t deliver on that theme. There are easy ways in the time frame they are given to do that. You A) need to cut Lan pissing on a tree & keep your Ingtar scene. B) Cut the whole Moiraine’s family plot line & lean into your love of Nynaeve/Egwene…give us more follow through on th…

This is literally an appreciation post: for Ceara Coveney. I just love her as Elayne. Elayne Trakand is my favorite (very closely followed by Aviendha) among the inner circle, of course after the five. So to have an actor who literally embodied her, in mannerism and looks, just makes me so happy. And Ceara's accent is just as Michael voices Elayne in those rare Mat povs interacting with the Elayne (bloody daughter-heir). I mean Kate does a more subtle job at switching accent when it comes to voicing the girls. But every time I hear Elayne from Mat's PoV, it always made me chuckle. And Ceara Coveney's accent is very reminiscence of that. …

So, just rereading the part when Perrin finally meets up with The Prophet of Dragon. I am finding it more interesting now that in the show they've established Meshima has a relationship(kinship) with Perrin, as they've both survived Seanchen/Falme together. Edit: I know in the books they spend time, I didn't say they didn't, but it was very antagonistic. In the show they showed even if they are not "friends" they did work together and develop a kinship. It really would be interesting to see Perrin meeting Mashema again when he is sent to Ghaeladan to deal with the Prophet. And Meshima not really been in the journey with Rand and hating him all the…

Rewatching season 1. They edited the daylight out of it. Hahha. More scenes and dialogs, more CGI. I don't know what to feel about it. 🤔

So the assumption has always been that Tear will take place at the start of season 3 and then the story will shift into TSR, but I have been thinking about alternative ways of telling the story. Book's 2 and 3 have a lot of repetition about them, the fight with Ishy is one, but another is the fact that end of TGH Rand is proclaimed in the sky (not got the book to hand but i am sure the epilogue says that people in the land heard tale of the dragon fighting in the sky and knew he had returned) and then in book 3 he again does a thing to proclaim his return. Callandor then plays no part in the story until much later. Now if you moved Tear to after the events in …

My prediction: Alanna going to also take on the role of Myrelle and then Joline. This way they would not need to recast multiple greens, and use Priyanka Bose as a series regular. The reason they are building her up so much, well other than the fact I would rather not mention involving Rand, is she will embody and represent most of the greens(with multiple warders) in the book. P.s. Please no hate, just speculate with me. I know the show is not what we would've rather have. But I just wanna have a conversation.

Could be a complete speculation honestly, and I want people to tell me if this is wishful thinking but do you think Elayne just bonded Rand on the season 2 finale? I have a feeling they are bringing/replacing the Birgitte Bonding story line forward? I mean if you notice the weaves passed between Lan and Moiraine in the scene where she reopens the bond, and there was a weave for a moment that passed from elaine to rand, it looked identical. It could just be they are using all 5 elements and mistook that as warder bond weave. However, even Nynaeve can't heal a wound from shaddar logath dagger. It was Flinn and the two yellows together that saved Rand, when he got stabbed by…

Warning massive book spoilers ahead. So in the TV show it is clear that Liandrin has been found out, this means she can go the same route as the books, escaping Tar Valon with a bunch of toys and other black sisters to give the girls an enemy to chase. But, how do we see her arc ending? the way it does in the books Spoiler (shielded, shield tied, inverted and compulsed to never die). the way of Alviarin Spoiler trapped in a stedding Or another way? With confirmation that Ingtars reveal is on the cutting room floor I don't see her having a redemption arc.

Alright. So we got two seasons in the bag & now we wait. We know we get at least one more season. What are they going to have in S3? Let the prophecies of DM roll… here’s mine: I’ll start with what I have high confidence we’ll see and then get into some wild speculation: 1) Dain is going to the the Two Rivers with Whitecloaks for sure. And they’ve made him way more likeable. In fact, I might be on his side & be hoping he beats this version of Perrin?? 2) we’re going to see a meeting of the Forsaken. They’ve set it up, got to deliver and give us: Sammael, Demandred, Rahvin, Graendal, Moggy, Lanfear, and Moridin [I think he’ll be play…

Such a GOOD episode! HIGHS that made me gasp, squeal and scream a little bit! (As I hadn’t yet on this series…) - Mat got his ashanderei!!! So cool they kept this in! (even if the eelfin/aelfinn storyline didn’t make it). This is finally our Mat!! - Uno!! With the heroes of the horn! Hell yeah!! Sooooo deserved….! - Egwene kicked ass saving herself. Such a good way of resolving this! - Hopper!! Oh, Hopper!!! I actually cried!! 😭 so.well.done! (except for Valda leaving without attacking Perrin) - Bornhald’s scene with Perrin killing his father… SO powerful! Definitely some amazing ways to make 1000+ pages fit into 8 hours… …

So there is a lot of discourse on here about adaptations, how bad WOT is compared to others and Lord of the Rings is shown as how it should be done. I think if we do a side by side comparison of the 2 series and what the TV show has done so far people are right, but not for the reasons they expect. If you compare the 14 books series to the 3 book LOTR then you can argue that EOTW, TGH and DR are effectively the first bit of the fellowship book, they are in effect the hobbits finding out about the ring, and then getting to Rivendell for the formation of the Fellowship and Frodo's "I will carry it" line. By the end of Book 3 the characters are fully introd…

For me, so far, it’s Elayne. Ceara looks exactly how I pictured and was introduced perfectly. Love the Egwene/Elayne friendship already. Her line, “Some of the greatest pairings in the history of the world were novices in adjacent rooms. Don’t you wonder what our future has in store?” ❤️🔥

The explanation for why the story doesn't stick to the books is limited time and limited seasons allocated. This meaning that more than one book will need to fit in each season. But is this true? I feel that these two season demonstrate that they had the capability to stick much more closely to the books. Many people were saying "Lol, these fans expect the story word for word". If anything I feel that we got too many words. I truly feel that if you took most of the dialogue from the first two books you would end up with less dialogue than what we got in the show. The books are thick but it's mostly descriptive text. For most of the 16 episodes…

What were your favorite costumes this season? There was so much to like!. But my favorites have to be Moiraine's blouse in episode 8, and Alanna's dress in Ep 1 when she is teaching the novices. The way the front was designed was reminiscent of the way women tucked scarves into their bodices in the 18th century, and I love the puffy sleeves as well. I also love Perrin's vest, and surprisingly Verin's dresses. Simple, but with some nice touches.

Help me? But first, hear me out. I really enjoyed S2. There were a few episodes where I think things went off the rails - eg any time spent with Lan peeing - but overall I thought it was solid, and I enjoyed it on my binge rewatch. However, there are a few things that I just can't get my head round, and so I don't know whether it's a 6/10 or a 9/10. I'm not a huge fan of RJ's writing either, and believe that the books would have benefited tremendously from a much less complaisant editor, so it's not as though I'm in any shape or form a die-hard fan of the books. I'm approaching this whole thing from a mixture of the logic of the TV series and …

My theory for the Horn, which also explains how show Mat will get his battle memory, strategic ability and fighting skills. It will be by blowing the Horn. (Edit 29 Sept 2023: I recalled this prophecy "Let whosoever sounds me think not of glory, but only of salvation". It all fits perfectly! https://13depository.blogspot.com/2009/03/horn-of-valere.html?m=1 "Q: "Hawkwing says they follow the banner and the Dragon. Moiraine says the Heroes will follow whoever winds the horn. Was Moiraine wrong?" A: *Arch look* "Moiraine doesn't know everything. She was speaking the truth as she knows it." (I took this to imply that Moir was misinformed, and the conflict resol…

For me, I'd say my favorite character from S1 was Thom. He was definitely a change from the books... Darker, grittier ... But that made way more sense and was so much more believable that he'd take on a Fade. His scenes were really good.

Do you who have read the books prior to the show think that you would like the show more or less if you hadn’t read the books? I feel like in some ways the knowledge and context of the source material was a big plus for me in terms of my ability to hang in there with elements that struck me as potentially confusing or even overall may have lacked the draw or interest of viewers who had no book experience. On the other hand, I wonder if some of my grievances about the show would not exist without having read the books first and therefore coming to the show “fresh”. Any thoughts?

I haven't seen a discussion of the bond between Moiraine and Lan covered in one spot and I was hoping to see if we can get one here. I want to open the discussion with a question in the hopes that all the theories of the condition of their bond can be discussed. In the books the bond with a Warder "allows an Aes Sedai to bend the will of their warders forcing them to obey." Now in the tv show does that still apply and if so, the fact that Moiraine orders Lan to go with Alanna and not follow her, doesn't that imply that the bond is still working ?
