  1. “Good morning Gabe, thank you for being punctual. Come and sit yourself down and have a mug of tea.” When Gabe had sat in one of the two chairs in front of the overly large desk, Owen handed him the mug of tea and was just about to sit down on the opposite side of the desk when there was a knock at the door. “Come in.” Owen turned to face the door and greeted John as he came into the office. Handing John the mug he was holding, Owen told him to sit down and then went to make himself another mug of tea. Returning to his chair, Owen put the mug down and then sat in the chair. “Well i suppose both of you are eager to start your lesson today, but first i would appreciat…

  2. The thick clouds skidded across a leaden sky, driven hard by an almost gale force wind that shook the tops of the mighty trees in the Stedding as if they were nothing more than matchwood. It was slightly easier in amongst the trees, but away from their shelter it was almost impossible to stand up against the wind. Standing on the balcony of his treehouse, Owen could feel the mighty oak moving with the wind, not enough to worry him, but enough to bring back the memories of his time on one of the large barges that carried stone from quarries in the Black Hills. It had taken him some time to get used to being on board that wallowing barge, and for three days he had not eaten…

  3. Rhya took the responsibility very seriously having once offered to teach Katrina but luckily herbs had been something she already had some knowledge of prior to her life in the Stedding and that knowledge had only expanded since. Her time spent with Aislyn sorting the Infirmary’s stores and the work she’d put into her own herb garden merely emphasising the interest. In truth, Rhya was rather proud of her little plot and tended it regularly like a mother hen concerned for a chick’s safety. She eyed the sky balefully as she waited for Katrina to arrive, her hands resting lightly on the rail that ran the length of the balcony. She hoped there would be no more snow for …

Rahien sat at the small table by the window in the Hole in the Wall. He had been staying at the Infirmary for a few months now and had been growing increasingly restless. He drained his tea and motioned for some spiced wine, it would be nice for a change. ~Brother, you are restless.~ Snow sent, her concern for him tinged with amusement. More and more he had started to understand the way Snow communicated. Other wolves were still a little difficult to understand from time to time, and not ever at the level of understanding he had with Snow. ~Yes,~ He thought back at her. ~This is not a comfortable thing I do.~ Sighing out loud he leaned back into his chair, …

“I will not be around for most of the day Rhya, i have to start the weapons training for some of the Wanderers and you know how intensive that can get. That is if you can remember your own lessons?” Grinning at the prickly scent that suddenly came from Rhya, Owen leaned over her and kissed her until it went away.” Not much later Owen emerged from his tree house and made his way to the Ranger training area where he had arranged to meet Rahien for his first weapons lesson. Owen knew something of Rahien from the senses lesson Rahien had been a pupil in. Owen was looking forward to getting to know him a little better. As he made his way there he greeted a few of th…

  6. Continuing from "You're No Longer Alone" Any other day they would have made camp to rest already but Burrich knew they were close and the extra hour or so of hiking wouldn't do them any harm. Silent, nearly-invisible sentries observed their passage and sent word ahead, seen by Burrich only because he knew where to look from his own turns serving sentry duty. A short while later he felt the now familiar tingle across his skin as the five weary travelers crossed the unseen boundary and entered the Stedding. Burrich noticed Cerise's reaction to the sensation and chuckled, "Welcome to the Stedding, home of the Wolfkin. We'll get you checked out by one of the S…

  7. Started by Asfaloth,

After six months of sleeping on the ground while away from the Stedding Burrich nearly missed awakening to start his day when he'd planned. Even the months he'd lived on the estate he'd inherited from his father, and subsequently passed on to his brother, he'd had to go without a bed for the simple reason that there were none large enough to hold his frame. Fortunately for him the abandoned Stedding that the kin had claimed as home so long ago had come complete with several Ogier-sized beds which Wall had included in the inn's furnishings. The comfort provided bu such a luxury as a mattress large enough for him to move as much as he desired, softer than down and yet fi…

  8. Winifred smiled as she saw the Stedding up ahead. One of those smiles that came up without even noticing. She remembered a time where all she wanted was to get out of that place. She recalled the sense of displacement and rejection the place provoked in her. That changed, though. Radically. The Stedding was her home and she was always relieved when she found herself back in it. Giving Zippo a long side glance, she sighed. It was going to be hard for him for quite a while. Maybe even a very long one. But Winifred had hopes for him. She saw worse cases in which other Wanderers managed to pull through and find their place in their Stedding. With treatment, Zippo should…

Not twelve hours after she’d last left him, a note smelling of flowers was delivered to her rooms by a starry eyed young novice. Sending the girl off with a few sharp words Eqwina lightly fingered the dark lump of wax before cracking the seal. This young man was the son of one of the greatest swordsmen of their time; intrigue and rumor surround his entire life. That was a given, what Eqwina could not decide was if it made him the pawn in some plot to expose her true allegiance or if he was simply what he seemed; A young man smitten with an Aes Sedai. Allowing him the kiss and giving him another had been a mistake; but one she did not regret. As much as she had been t…

Welcome, The move to our new boards, planned and plotted for several years, is now a fact. It will take some time to get used to these new surroundings and the various options, but I have a lot of faith in you guys. You're Freelanders, after all. If you can hold your ground around those meddlesome Aes Sedai and explosive Asha'man, then these boards will be a walk in the park for you. Mind, that park may house some surprises. So if you come across anything that you feel isn't working properly or you have any questions at all, post here and I will go harass the Powers that Be to get it fixed or find you the answers. Bugging them is one of my favorite passtimes, …

Welcome, On 11 September 2010 Dragonmount moved to it's new location at DM8.0. The FL Staff decided that this was the best time to update the Aiel boards and start with a clean slate. The older threads are not lost, they are archived and not available to the public anymore. This is done to avoid confusion with the brand new system that is replacing the older one(s). Over the years, many Aiel Leaders have worked very hard on the workings of this Guild and each of them has left their mark on it. Different captains use different methods, however, so it all became a bit of a mixed soup after a while which became harder and harder for the leaders to untangle. With th…

In Character hierarchy at the White Tower There have been various systems used over the years to determine the In Character Hierarchy at the White Tower, but this is the one that is now in use (remember that Accepted and Novices are right at the bottom ;)): Remember the gradations, "secret" positions, and other difficult cases: Gradations: Joan Sedai of the White Ajah is the weakest in the OP in the whole Tower. She has to defer to every single other sister. However, her deductive reasoning and skill at Daes Dae'Mar is brilliant, so she is chosen to be a Sitter. Everyone in the White Tower who is NOT a Sitter (or the White Head) now defers …

There was no sound or light in the room where Myyrth sat clenching and unclenching his hands, digging his fingernails into the skin of his palm. The sharp pain distracted him from his ruminating. It cleared the suffocating darkness from his mind, allowed him to focus. He needed focus now more than ever. It had been months now that he had spent in the cold darkness of this dungeon. Months without contact with another creature other than the shadowy and commanding figures of his instructors. They came and went, never the same teacher. They hurt him, they pushed him. Yet he was getting stronger, more sure of himself with every passing week. He was not the same as th…

Tripping stumbling Myyrth’ul’shai’zumel charged headlong down the steep hill, loose rocks and dust tumbling down after him threatening to trip him up and bury him under an avalanche of jagged shale and dirt. He was in a narrow valley the sun a sickly greenish yellow hung sedentary in the polluted sky, solid stone walls rising up on either side of him trapped him, a sickening odor permeated the air. It was like someone was being cooked alive, it was a greasy smell. The smell of death. Myyrth already carried scars from the path behind him, scrapes on his knuckles, a superficial gash on his shoulder from a close call with a blade trap. The obstacle course was de…

  23. Over the Mountains of Dhoom a high wind howled down out of the north. As it went it kissed the sharp mountain peaks racing down towards the southlands. It crossed the blighted lands of the north, the sickly sweetness of decay clinging to its speeding currents. As it entered into the northern kingdoms it grew colder, the unnatural heat of the Blight leeching out. These were human lands, and within these lands an enemy stalked. A raiding party of shadowspawn marched, the northern wind tugging at them urging them onwards. Down into Saldaea they marched looking for blood. The foul Trollocs snuffled at the air emboldened by the smell death carried on the wind. The Grea…

The wind carried a mighty chill even now during the spring, and not for the first time since leaving, Madel wished that he had owned a heavier cloak. The tall grass, some of it almost up to his shoulders and rolling like great waves with the breeze, parted before him as he pushed through it, and quickly folded shut behind him. Casting a look over his shoulder, the young man couldn't even tell where he had walked, as if the plains had swallowed up any trace of his passing. Behind him, the flat terrain slowly rose to the west where it became the low hills among which Madel had been raised, so that now, looking back, the youth could no longer see the silhouette of his home v…

Sandre and Visar both had been preparing for the campaign for months. It couldnt really be called a campaign. They didnt plan to go into the Blight and if they did not far. It was a trade off with other small houses. None of them could afford to have their men out in the field all the time and it would also have been inefficient. The soldiers needed to be home at least some of the time with their families. So it was that there was a trade off. Every third year the Kaldun men at arms would go to the field, the other two years were traded off with two other houses to protect the lands of all three. The Blight was quiet lately. Some had even seen signs of it receding though …

Riding hard North, with the pale sun rising slowly in the East Kabria prayed that they would both survive this last foray towards the Blight. There had been many close calls on this journey, enough so that even Saidar did not make her feel protected as it once had. Loosening her sword in her sheath she looked towards the dark sky in front of her wondering if it was the last she would see. It was noon of the first day when the sounds of battle reached their ears. They were miles yet from the Blight, but apparently the Trolloc raids had broken through the first defenses. Pulling up short of the battle they both stopped to discuss their plan. It was obvious by the soun…
