  1. Rochel hurried down the hallways of the Accepteds Quarters, not wanting to be late to her lesson. She'd already learned that tardiness was treated much more harshly for an Accepted than for a Novice. In fact, everything seemed to be more harsh. And to think that she'd imagined Acceptance would bring a little more freedom! Yes, she could choose her own studies now, but everything else was far more ... brutal. Though come to think of it she hadn't had much of that freedom yet ... Soon enough, Rochel found herself in the Grey Ajah quarters, banded skirts swishing as she approached the door of Pia Sedai's rooms. She'd not yet had a lesson with the woman, but everyo…

  2. Started by Jehaine,

As the sun rose over the Erinin river, a small trading ship could be seen heading for Tar Valon. Though this was no uncommon sight given the presence of the White Tower in the area, its current position meant that the small ship had most likely been sailing at night, which was far less common. Still, even that could have been explained due to the ship's waterline, hinting at an empty hull. With less depth, mudflats wouldn't be much of an issue, though the risk of getting stuck was of course still present. On the ship itself Timeon, the ship doctor and First Mate, walked to the captain, who was leaning on the rail to look at the White Tower coming into view. "Hey Cap.…

  3. I've been living for so long, many seasons have passed me by. I've seen kingdoms through ages rise and fall, I've seen it all. I've seen the horror, I've seen the wonders happening just in front of my eyes. Will I ever, will I never free myself by making it right? ~ Jillian, by Within Temptation Rain pelted at the glass window pane, and the howling wind swept currents of debris at the White Tower walls. The elements making their personal attack on the fragile-appearing fortress that held the most powerful women in the world. Cracks in the stone allowed the wind to infiltrate the structure in the form of cool drafts. Commonly, the time of year was ofte…

  4. Rytali's day began bright and early, just like the ones before. She always woke before Dyrum, and busied herself tidying the room before leaving for chores and classes. She was lucky to have time to break her fast every other day, but Rytali occasionally could sneak in a snack here and there. Lunch was usually the first real meal she could make time for, and then it was back to the grindstone, studying the use of the One Power and a particularly grueling session of geometry. Then, after finishing another late afternoon of chores, usually something involving cleaning somewhere in the labrynthine that was the White Tower complex, Rytali would be able to have supper in …

Loraine walked slowly through the Vault, pausing next to each face she recognized and wondering what secrets these women hid from the world. How many of them had children that no one knew about? How many of them married their warders? They were the same secrets that Loraine clutched close to her chest. While it wasn't unheard of for a Green to marry their Warder, having children was against the rules. Lor wasn't good at going against the rules. Now she had to find the line between letting one secret out, the fact that she'd married her Warder and would have to do so again, much more publicly and hiding her sons. Considering the entire reason why she was worried…

  6. Rasheta stared out her window and sighed she was in a bad mood, she had been without both her warders for a week now. Dante was off training, and she knew he was having a hard time of it. She didn't really need to stare at the harbor everyday till her eyes hurt, but she did. Visar had gone off somewhere as well, Rasheta wasn't sure were because he had not told her. She paused she knew in what general direction he was in just not why he had left the tower. She sighed and stood up and pulled her shawl closer around her and decided to wander the Tower. She had nothing else to do with her time. Novices and Accepted scampered out of her way as she walked along the halls.…

  7. Rytali leaned against the wooden ladder to keep it steady, an angry grimace on her face. If that snotty brat do try to dump mud on my face again, I do swear I will knock over this bloody ladder myself, consequences be burned! By the time they were done cleaning this section of the White Tower gutters (which were still low enough to collect leaves year-round), her hair would take over an hour to wash and brush clean, and she didn't even want to think about how long it would take to bleach and scrub her novice's dress back to the required pristine white again. But she kept her complaints to herself while getting her punishment over with, unlike Some people who said ju…

  8. Started by Elgee,

“You come in ignorance, Esther Tremaine. How would you depart?” “In knowledge of myself.” “For what reason have you been summoned here?” “To be tried.” “For what reason should you be tried?” “So that I may learn whether I am worthy.” “For what would you be found worthy?” “To wear the shawl.” No hesitation. I must show no hesitation. Esther clung to that thought as her fingers calmly undid the buttons on her banded dress. Once she had looked forward eagerly to this moment. Once she had thought she would face it with no fear or trepidation. She had gone through the Arches since then. They whispered that the Arches were but a slightly bad dream, co…

  9. Started by Matalina,

Kate wasn't sure if this was the right decision. She'd left home to come to Tar Valon. She'd left home in search of herself, much like her mother had left Tar Valon to find home. It was a search Kate undertook by herself. Her mother had trained her in many things, and Kate wondered if those things were going to get her by, or if they were all she needed to know. Kate knew how to user her quarterstaff to protect herself, she knew what plants to eat and what plants could kill. Kate relished that fact, the poisons were nearly better than the healing components, she smiled at her knowledge and wondered if she'd ever get to use any of it in service of the Great Lord.…

  10. The loud clicking of heeled boots echoed in the cool, stone corridors of the White Tower. If emotions were capable of manipulating the One Power, Serena would have been encapsulated in a bubble of flames and dragging behind her a path of destruction. She was fuming on the inside, and every time she thought about it her feet picked up their pace, and her long blue coat flared out behind her. The blasted women treat me like a child just loosened from her mother’s apron strings! How dare they undermine me during an Ajah meeting! The diminutive Saldaean Blue had been meeting with the Ajah regarding an unusual occurrence where a set of Eyes and Ears had gone missing, some of…

  11. "You come in ignorance Rochel Dion, how would you depart?” Rochel struggled to keep her breathing even. How could this be happening? Not half an hour ago she had been butting heads with a stubborn group of fool novices, trying to keep them from killing themselves and each other with the power. The Mistress of Novices had caught her in the hallway, and with little explanation had half dragged Rochel down to this seldom used part of the Tower. She had less composure right now than she usually did! And yet, despite her agitation and aprehension, the words flowed out smoothly. “In knowledge of myself.” “For what reason have you been summoned here?” “To …

  12. Yovela followed the woman in the banded dress down the hall at a fast clip. She repeated the woman's words in her head like a mantra. If your story is true and you cannot channel, then there is no harm in being tested. Come girl, it is simply a formality that will take only minutes. Those who do not test true are sent home if that is what they wish. It was that last part that she cared about. She wanted to go home, though there would be quite a lot of explaining to do once she got there. She was a good Amadician, raised in the truths cast by the shadow of the Children of the Light, and just being in the White Tower was enough to send fear flying through her sou…

  13. Allisia shifted uncomfortably in the saddle on her horse. Saddle sore only began to describe what she felt right then, and she had been a stubborn fool, refusing healing of any sort, insisting she was fine. Her resolve to prove her family wrong was becoming borderline less-than-intelligent, and she knew it. But she kept on as she was, persistent, to say the least, to prove that she didn't have an ounce of weakness in her, but her mind mulled over the possibilities. What if it's weak of me to act like a stubborn fool? Stupidity usually isn't considered a strength, you know. A voice inside her head nagged, and a rather large part of her agreed, but she had come too far beha…

Know what? Saline couldn’t decide whether or not Lillian had been sulking since she was almost sure the other had been avoiding her. Not that they hung out all the time as both had been busy, but during the last month she had not a single glimpse of the White Sister. Her other problem was that, though Kasi’s progress was evident throughout the past four weeks she still needed a lot more guidance, and Lillian was to step up regardless of her personal preferences. Saline would feel bad about gifting Lillian with Kasi, but she had already sacrificed a month of her own search for this. Enough was enough. “Shall we continue tomorrow?” “No,” Saline replied…

  15. Silkhead worm and Kandori Tether mushrooms to cure sweat fever. Camigwen frowned at what she had read. Silkhead worm? What in Light’s name is that? Oh! Silkthread worm! She wanted to growl in frustration. And the handwriting! She glanced at the name on the top right hand of the parchment. Thuverana Kapasaya Pong. She recalled the accompanying girl that came with the ridiculous name. Red haired Saldean who always seemed to be dreaming of something else during classes. Camigwen sighed. It wasn’t that she hated teaching. She was proud of students that eventually became great Healers, many of them choosing Yellow. Her current Head of Infirmary and one of her Sitters had…

  16. The clouds drifted past the dreamy moon. And it was a dreamy room. Round and high in the sky, bright and yet not glaring enough to make you want to squint. Camigwen’s fingers lingered on the window skill, her eyes was lost. A sort of desperation for the day to be over. She was tired from classes all morning. And her back ached from the 100 weave practices her friends and her had been doing over the past months. In her mind she imagined the test to be far worse and part of her prepared for failure. “Bardin, my beloved brother, keep me safe this day.” She sighed and closed the curtains. Her room smelt of spices and dried herbs, and a slightly sinister looking skeleton …

  17. Kathleen dragged herself through the corridors after another long day. She should have been used to it by now but somehow she never seemed rested in the mornings and by night it was all she could to not fall asleep on her way to room. When she turned the corner to the hall with her room she almost didn't notice the Mistress of Novices standing by her door. What does she want? It wasn't meant as a rude thought it was more surprise than anything else. Kathleen had never seen Pia Sedai at her door so late before, actually she had never seen her by her door before any time of the day. Kathleen just wanted to sleep but seeing the Mistress of Novices is at your door has a funny…

  18. Started by Marta Sedai,

“Excuse me Accepted,” Marta asked nervously “I am here to be tested.” She had been searching the yard for a while, and this girl was the first Accepted she saw. “You want to be tested?” the Accepted asked suspiciously. “Yes, I do. Could you take me to the Mistress of Novices?”Marta replied wondering was she being clear enough. I knew I should have waited in that line. But, Light, it was so long! I am not waiting to be healed, or for an advice. “Very well, follow me, then.” The Accepted muttered and led the way across the yard. Am I doing the right thing? Father will be angry, I know that, but if I can learn… “How do you know you have to be tested?” the Accepted …

  19. Rasheta stared at the ceiling in her room and wondered at her either good fortune or downright bad luck, she had two warders, a first for her, and now she had to brave taking the second one to see Jaydena. She had nothing against this tradition but her warders were always so nervous and having that in her head made her worse. She wasn't sure if or what Dante had told Visar about his trip. She sighed and put an arm over her eyes in the hopes that she could pretend it wasn't time to get up. She could hear either Visar or Dante moving around in the outer room and she was sure if she didn't get up and appear soon. Either of the warders would come in and wake her. She got up a…

  20. Amadine was sitting in her new room repairing the hem of one of her banded Accepted dresses, she had caught it on a stray nail in the floor on her way back from lessons yesterday afternoon, and she began to get a bit peckish. As she sat and sewed the peckish feeling grew into hunger. As she tied off the thread her stomach growled loudly. Perhaps she would go down to the dining room for a supper of cake and a cup of tea. Her stomach growled loudly again and that made her decision for her. She rose from her chair and hung the dress in her wardrobe, she went to the night stand and spilled some water into the wash jug and quickly washed her face. She pulled her brush th…

  21. Regalia wrinkled her nose and released Saidar. Her banded Accepted dress had smoothed out, and the last drop of scum had pooled on the floor before her. It was not tiring working in the Kitchen. The Mistress of the Kitchens had learnt to trust the newly raised Accepted and more often than not, the Cook was the one who brandished her wooden spoon in punishment. Regalia had felt enough of that during her time as a Novice to know it wasn’t worth it pranking anymore. “Regalia.” Regalia turned and curtseyed low to the Aes Sedai who had appeared behind her. Her brow crooked at the Novice who stood beside her. “This is Kathleen” “Yes, Mosvrini Sedai?” Regalia sighed in…

  22. Started by Liitha,

Sheri looked in horror on the Mistress of Novices for a moment before composing herself. Sha had been training her weaves of course, but compared to many others for rather long, and she had expected to be training them for yet a bit longer. Did she really have them down?, was she ready? This was the reason she was still here, her reason for years of strugle, with the aim to not let her grandmothers faith in her be foregone. She sent thougths to the woman who had had a large impact on her life, and her hearth ached to think yet again she would never see her again. Sheri had found peace with the loss of her grandmother, but she wished she could have gone home to thank…

  23. Started by perine,

She had been studying, lost in the books she had taken out of the library her eyes already straining at the small print on the current book she was reading. A History of Caemlyn. It was a boring book, written with such focus to detail that Carelia wanted to rip some pages off. Nobody needed to know that much about the city. The book even listed all the naming days of the Queens of the past. Definitely too much information. She did not hear the first knock on her door; only at the second knock she pulled her eyes off the text and stumbled to open the door. “Carelia Noradien," The mistress of Novices said clearly impatient behind the door. Carelia barely managed to u…

  24. Started by Taei,

The events from the previous day had been going through Tayva's mind over and over again like a skipping record. She remembered the weaves, all 100 of them, and the different things that had came to challenge her while she did the weaves. Every now and then she shivered once more at the things that she had seen and experienced in the ter’angreal. Get a grip Tayva! What is over is over. Get done with it. Grabbing hold of herself she led herself through it all once and what she deemed would be the last time... ------------------- “Tayva ni Ayvery t'Reyon," Tayva almost jumped out of her skin as she heard the voice behind her as she was about to enter her quarters. Turni…

  25. Ray-ray poked at the strange tapestry hanging in the middle of the waiting room. It had strange creatures running around it. And it reminded Ray-ray of some of the nightmares she'd had recently, after rather overeating during evening meals. Her right hand clutched tightly around a note the Cook had written for her. Something about being sure to curtsey when in doubt and not speaking when not being spoken to. Something Ray-ray would have to work with. She was rather opinionated. "Please sit and be quiet, child. Pia Sedai will be with you shortly." A girl in rainbow handed Accepted dress spoke from behind an age darkened bureau piled high with paper. "If you break any…

  26. Started by Kathleen,

Looking up at the majestic White Tower, Kathleen realized that she was crying and quickly wiped her face with her hand. Great, she thought, here I am standing outside the most prestigious place in the world, blubbering like an infant! How will they take me seriously with my face all streaked with tears? I didn't walk away from my family and come all this way to get laughed at at the door. Pull yourself together and walk in there like you belong! She took a small, broken mirror out of the sack she had on her back and fixed her hair. She did what she could to make the rags, which had once been her best dress, look presentable. She took a deep breath and entered the door of t…

  27. Quiet. Ray-ray stroked her cloth doll absently as she stared out of the window into the dark night. Her eyes glanced at the moon and then back to the shadows in the distance. It was a night of waiting. Her head throbbed slightly, for some reason sleep had been fleeting over the last few nights. Devrion, as usual, was not in their room. Their shared bed was empty. Quiet. Forgotten. Abandoned. The knock sounded, cutting across the room, startling Ray-ray out of her revelry. “Who is it?” She spoke with a muted voice. None of the Novices bothered knocking, choosing instead to shout their names out. Which could only mean…” “It is Pia Sedai, Regalia.” Ray-ray’s e…

  28. Kathleen nearly fell over as she curtsied to Pia Sedai, but she quickly steadied herself. She realized she was frowning and then smiled at Pia. Great, so much for not looking like a fool! "Thank you, Pia Sedai, for taking the time to see me today, and for everything you've done for me. Thank you for showing me that I can do things I never thought anyone can do, and thank you for letting me stay here." She wasn't sure that it really was up to Pia wether she stayed or not. Her mother had told her that if a girl of a certain age could channel that the Tower always accepted her, either to see if she was strong enough to be Aes Sedai or at least to guide her so she didn't die …

  29. “Now you mind your manners from now on, you hear!” “Yes Mistress Laras” Amadine replied as meekly as she could manage. “If I hear you growl under your breath again like that child, I’ll have Pia Sedai tanning your hide quicker than you can say ‘Yes Mistress Laras’!” the Mistress of the Kitchens glared at Amadine. “Now get out of my kitchen before I put you to work in the spit wheels like one of the dogs.” Amadine made a hurried exit from the kitchens. Light, but that woman was in a bad mood today! She had gone down to the kitchens to beg a late supper after her last class for the day only to be shoved out of the way by Laras. Amadine had stubbed her toe thr…

  30. "I've been hunted, captured and neutered. What could you possibly want from me?". Nynaeve considered the man for a moment. Sympathy surfaced, yet she knew that what was done to him had to be done. There was no way around it. Channeling men couldn't be allowed to roam around free. They couldn't be trusted with the power they possessed, whether they had high potential or not. The faintest use of the power could be lethal in the hands of a lunatic. They had to be denied of Saidin at any cost or otherwise they'd spread destruction every way they turned. "I want to study you, Joseph. For that, I need your consent. I wouldn't be able to do it properly if you fight me." Jos…
