Introduce Yourself

If you're new to Dragonmount, stop in and introduce yourself!

  1. Hey! Robert here using his stereotypical username that involves the word fire somewhere. In comparison to some, I am a relatively new fan-- ~3 years. I decided to actually join after lurking the forums as a guest for a time (but mainly because I told someone [who never read WoT sadly]: "The wheel weaves as the wheel wills," and realized it was about time I joined the bloody forums! Phaw!). Should be fun, right? Oh, I like Star Wars if that means anything to another lurking fan. Although, I wish the movies used the force storm more! Well that's about it for now!

Hello everyone.Totally new to Wot having only discovered it about 6 weeks ago. What can i say but WOW!.I can't believe i've been missing out on this for over 20 years.Within a few chapters of The Eye of the World i was completely hooked.I've been scouring the internet for artwork and info, which is how i discovered this fantastic site. Not since Tolkien have i wanted to be part of a fantasy world so much.I will have to try and stay clear of spoilers as i'm only half way through The Great Hunt (Despite my love for it i'm a slow reader who likes to enjoy every page). So Thank you for this site and a massive thank you to the late, great Robert Jordan for creating a modern masterp…

  4. ***SPOILER ALERT*** Hello. A veteran user of this forum suggested that I post my thoughts as I read through the series for the first time because i guess you peeps that have been around a while and have already finished the series thrive on fresh brainwaves. well again I'm on the Fires of Heaven and I'm at the part where Rand and the gang have brought the Aiel into wetland areas, and they are all fascinated about the terrain. :moiraine:Moiraine is pretending to be all humble and submissive now to Rand so that he keeps here close but we have heard her mention that she "remember how to control the one power [by surrendering to it]," a philosophy she is now assumed to be app…

Hello!! I have spent the last 11 months in Afghanistan as a Combat Engineer for the U.S. Army and borrowed Book 1 from a friend in my platoon who insisted I give it a go. I am glad I did as the series gave me something to look forward to and a place to escape the busy lifestyle of war. I am looking forward to meeting like minded people and to discuss the WoT series as I am a HUGE fan now. Also a huge fan of RP'ing and fantasy in general.Thank you for this opportunity!

Hey everyone, my name is Michael, Ive been a longtime fan of the series, been reading them since 1995, have re-read each book before the new book has come out, and also when I could not find anything to read I decided to ream them again just for fun. Love all the characters, have been checking out the forums here for a long time and happy to now be a part of them... Thanks for your time and Thanks to the moderators for having an excellent site.

Hi everyone, happy to finally join this place (I wanted to catch up to the books before I join). I actually started the series a few years back but the length scared me and I gave up after the second book. three months ago I decided to go back and NOT give up this time-after the third book the was no way I would have stopped even if I wanted to. Right now I'm in the middle of TOM and I have tons of questions and things I want to discuss. I'm SO happy I decided to give WOT a second chance=]

  8. Hi, my name is Sam and I have been a fan of WoT since 1996 I think. I've lurked on forums like this and TL for a long time, to learn new information and enjoy some of the lively debates. I'm not that good though at debates and theories so mostly I'll say my opinions, put my two cents in, and maybe ask some questions. Hopefully posting here will be a lot of fun. Also I eat up anything Terez posts, she is sooo smart

    Started by Guest Mucky,

I've been visiting Dragonmount for what seems like since the internet began, just never registered. So here I am I'm not one of the more talkative (textative? New word, i claim it) types so you'll have to work to get at my endless supply of useless knowledge. Mucky Long you live and high you fly And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry And all you touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be.

Hi guys! I finally registered for the forums here after lurking for the better part of a decade. I'm looking forward to actually posting now. :) Why did I register today? Well I have a question and I figured I'd rather ask it here than immediately start cluttering up the general WOT board with newb questions. I've always heard about the Strike at Shayol Ghul but I've never read it. Today I learned the full text of it is in the big white book. Could anyone tell me which page it starts on? I found part of it on page 41 but it isn't the full text. Thank you to anyone who can provide insight on this! Is it January 2013 yet????

  12. Started by MountaineerWV,

Hola! I just finished up a read through. The first in half a decade - Holy Shit! How time flies...The last book I read was KoD. Then I was in Iraq when I heard the news about RJ. I was unsure if I wanted to continue reading after he passed. One of my regrets was not sending him a fan letter thanking him for his work. WoT let me escape the difficulties of life - a place to travel and explore with friends. Mat, Rand, Nynaeve...they helped many of us regroup and go back into the world - for the better I think. On a flight home about a month ago I impulsively bought tEotW for my kindle. Best impulse buy ever! Over the course of the last month I tore through th…

  13. Hello, everyone! It's a pleasure to join a group of fellow bookworms! First things first, I'd like to apologize in advance for any errors, which I will almost definitely make, as I'm completely new to forums. Bear with me! :) My sister originally introduced me to the WoT series. I'll admit, I wasn't very interested at first. The prologue didn't pique my interest, and I forgot about it until my 'To Read' stack disappeared. I decided to give it another go, and I've been addicted ever since! I'm also proud to have passed it along to a few others, as well! :) I'm excited to have found DM, and looking forward to discussing WoT. Or any other books/authors, for th…

Hey all- been a member of Dragonmount for about 6 years, but its been awhile since i logged in.....looks like my posting history was nuked :( c'est la vie i guess :) !!! Either way, i was curious....does anyone know of a website online that might occasionally have some items from RJ's auction that took place 4 years ago when his blade collection was sold off by his estate?? Since then, has anyone seen any of that stuff being re-sold also with the CoA's? Thanks!!

  18. Hello there. Always meant to sign up here, and I actually tried once, but due to my email provider it never worked and I kept putting it off even though I visit this site at least every other day.. LOL.. So, first I would like to say thank you to Jason for starting this website and giving another fellow WoT geek someplace to run away to... Anyway, much more on topic, I am a huge fan of the forums and theories. Like most of you, I can never seem to get enough of the Wheel, and this is a great place to get just that. I love to hear other peoples thoughts, ideas, so on and so forth. I began reading in late 95, early 96 and have never looked back. Looking forward to getting …

Is there anybody else who beleives that Taim is Demandred. He is the only Forsaken that has not been identified. It seems to me that that would have been a brilliant way to get at Rand. The events at the Black Tower also suggest that it may be true. Just a thought, I wanted to see if anybody else thinks the same thing.

So, I've been a longtime WoT Mudder across a few different MUDs, and I've been aware of Dragonmount's existance this whole time but for some reason never bothered to sign up. Since I was bored one night and started reading through the disccusions board I figured I'd break my silence and join up. Mostly I'm just here for the Discussions. The endless theorizing and speculating on RJ's work, influences, and the mechanics of how it all come together has been a passion of mine, and this seems the best place to do so. So cheers, folks, I'm looking forward to some intelligent debate.

Hey guys. I've been a fan of TWoT for a while now and I stumbled across this site and it looked interesting. Not many people that I know like reading, so I thought this would be a nice place to find like minded people. I'm currently reading Winter's Heart. I've found Jordan's books to be some of the best pieces of literature that I have ever read. I took my name from a character in the book. If you don't remember Masema, he was that certified nut job that called himself the prophet of the dragon. Looking forward to talking with you guys.

Hi I'm Yriel Finally caught up on the books after taking a gap from reading them to let them build up. Really looking forward to (and dreading) A Memory of Light. My favourite character is Rand followed very closely by Perrin then it's probably Nynaeve. Looking to RP a bit as used too a couple of years back. So yeh..

  24. Hi all!! Very pleased to meet ya! I was introduced to the series when about 14 by my older brother and I have not been able to stop reading since!! These books are both my first choice and my default.... They are also the books that I pressure my friends to read too, haha! I actually really like the art work for the covers, so tonight I was browsing and I happened to see some artwork of WOT on another site. The link lead me to a forum on this site, which I have visited before but have never joined. The forum also provided a link to this cool little website where you can design "dolls" and they suggested that you could design some of the characters from WOT. I decid…

  25. Started by Mercador,

Hello ! I would like to start reading WoT in the following weeks. So I guess I'll be lurking on this forum quite a bit into the next year :) What kind of books WoT can be compared to? I read LOTR obviously when I was a teenager (20 years ago), Drizzt and some Moorcock as well. I restart reading a few years ago, reading the 5 books of ASOFAI, the first trilogy of Fitz, Black Company, tried Malazan (I'll come back on this one when my english reading aptitudes will be better) and some others. As far as I know, TOR will reedit the books with new covers, I was wondering if it will be one per month until the last book or it might pause from release to release. My pl…

Hello everybody. My name is Ivan, I'm coming from Serbia and I can honestly say that WOT series influenced my preferences for books and my personality altogether. I'm currently reading book 9 - Winter's heart and I can't wait to read the whole thing and then to start reading it again. Of course I have to wait till January 8th which is the date when Tor will publish the final book - Memories of light (I really hope that they will not postpone it). It was a coincidence that I started to read WOT. My best friend bought Eye of the world in book fair. He bought that book because his friend wanted to go for a drink, so he just grabbed the first book he laid his eyes on…

  28. Just wanted to say hi and share this with everyone since I thought there might be some interested people out there. This is a photo of The Wheel of Time logo that was handmade/carved for me by my grandfather back in 2001. Didn't know if there were any other people out there with real world stuff that had been made based off the series, but I wanted to share it with you all since it has brought me great joy. Hope you all enjoy it!
