Introduce Yourself

If you're new to Dragonmount, stop in and introduce yourself!

  1. Started by Sephie913,

Actually, I've been posting for a little while, now. But I figured I'd introduce myself anyway. My name's Nathan, but you can call me Sephie. As for the rest... "Shall I start at the beginning, like David Copperfield? I am born, I grow up? Or shall I start when I was born to WoT, as they say?" ;) Okay, shameless insertion. But at least I used something GOOD. One of my friends introduced me to WoT in middle school. We'd read Feist, by then, and one of our other friends had started Salvatore. But we went a different path. A better path, I fervantly believe. It took me three days to get to Winter's Night, complaining to everyone who would listen that nothing…

Hey all :) I'm new to DM, but not new to WoT or WoT communities in general. Thought I might as well take the plunge and join in here as well (especially seeing how I have far too much time at work right now, so why not put some of that time to good use) ;) A bit about me.. I'm 33 and work in IT .. I'm a gamer at heart and a self professed girl geek. Nothing I love more than delving into the guts of a computer (literally) .. I generally have one room in the house that looks like a computer graveyard with bits all over it). I began reading WoT in '97 when I took a Fantasy Lit class in university and never looked back. I have not yet read ToM, but I'm working …

Hello fellow WoT fans, I'm Matt, it's a pleasure to meet you. I have been a fan of the series for over half my life; I wrote for a couple of RP sites for a couple of years (where I was known as Sakan, a Malkieri warrior raised by a Kandori blademaster), before I got married and had kids I joined here to see if I can find fellow fans in the Boston area, and to be a part of the community. Peace favor your swords.

Dear All This is not only my first post in the Dragonmount forum, it's my first post in any forum, so please forgive any errors or faux pas. I was lucky enough to find a copy of Eye of the World right back in 1990, but <shock-horror> was not impressed enough to read on. A friend at University recommended the series a few years later, and since his advise about Fantasy novels was generally sound, I took it. Fortunately my tastes had become more sophisticated and it wasn't long before I'd read everything up to Crown of Swords (at the time, the latest paperback in print). I had a break upon discovering that the series was going to be much longer, and figured that …

  6. Started by Aulduron,

I'm an old guy with little else to do than read. A friend tried for years to get me to read these books, but I don't like to start a series until it's done. I fiend too much between books, and there is always the chance that the author would die....oh, sorry. When I heard that a new author was writing the last book, I was glad and started reading once I heard that final book was out. Somehow I missed the announcement about him splitting that last book into three. Alas, I've been fiending since I read TGS, and have been reading this, and other sites to get my temporaray fixes. Now I find it may be time to start posting too, so here I am.

  7. Hello everyone, I am new to this site but not so new to The Wheel of Time. In fact I spent a great deal fo time scouring the net looking for information to include in my site for use with a Fantasy Grounds adventure I have been working on. I find it in bad taste to advirtise another site on someone else's forum so if you are interested you may PM me and I will link you. That said Robert Jordan's works have held my interest for a very long time and even now I reread his books on occaision. It is my wish to join in on some of the creative writings that I see here. I am greatly impressed and wish to join you. Below is a character concept and I look forward to spending mo…

  8. Started by Luthien,

I've been a WoT reader since the early 90s. I had been trying to hold off on reading tGS and ToM until the last book came out, from the idea that they were supposed to have been one book, so should be read together. After finally caving and tearing through them both, I'm now (tiredly) bursting with more questions! :)

  9. Started by Mazrim182,

Hello all :D I started reading the WoT March last year and became hooked halfway through EoTW. I'm currently on my 2nd re-read of the series after spending a good amount of time on this site reading the speculation and theories. I just want to say a big thanks to Robert Jordan (r.i.p) for creating such an amazing mythos and thanks to Brandon for stepping up to fill in RJ's considerably large shoes so we can have the ending to such an amazing tale. I would also like to thank each and every one of the members and admins of this site for being so passionate and dedicated to the WoT and giving noobs like me even more to think on in between ToM and AMOL :D Looking forward to s…

  10. Started by Mhaliah,

Hi, I have been into WoT for a long time now. I started reading the first book at around the time the 7th book was published. I have read all the books so far, and most more than once! I am a fan of MUD games based on the WoT with wotmud being the one I play on the most. My primary char there is Mhaliah. He is a Lion Warden. The game is huge for a MUD and has a lot to offer for fans of the series and MUD fans alike. If you have ever played a MUD or are interested in playing a RP game based on the WoT it is a great one to get involved in. You can contact me if you have questions, or if you log in at wotmud.org and see Mhaliah on the "who" list send me a tell. B…

I've been a fan of the Wheel of Time ever since my Father introduced it to me (I'm 15). I was reading Eragon and I'd though that it was the greatest book of all time. However, once I began reading WoT, I forgot Eragon in an instant and I fell into the story line as if i was a part of it. I think that Mat is my favorite male character (although he's hard tailed by Rand) and I think Nynaeve is awesome. I like Egwene a lot but she really annoys me in Towers of Midnight...don't stop Rand! LOL. But yeah, I'm glad to find so many people who are fans of this series. I'm sad that no one at my school has read this series because I SERIOUSLY need to discuss some stuff. Like, seriou…

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. While I've read some of the Wheel of Time books, my fiance adores them. He's let me do essentially everything I wanted with our wedding so I want to give him something he's going to treasure by trying to find Wheel of Time themed toasting flutes for our wedding toast. Does anyone know where I can find something remotely like this or does anyone know how to make this? I would really really appreciate the help. I want to surprise him with these on our table at our wedding. Thank you so much -Sara

Hello! I'm a 23 year old swedish guy, studying computer game development at the university of Skövde, and I am currently working on my last year project. During these three years I have mainly been working with digital painting, specializing in environment concepts. Why am I telling you all this? Why am I even here? It's simple actually. I LOVE this book series. That is why I have built my project around creating Shadar Logoth in 2D, as concept art for a fictional game. In about one to two months I am going to need people for a survey on how I've done. I would like some of those people to have read the books beforehand, to see if they react differ…

I would like to start by saying that i am new to this community. So hello to everyone! While i am new to thsi site and have not yet met any of you, i am not new to this series. I picked up the forst book of this series in 96 when i was a teenager at the suggestion of the owner of my local bookstore. There were a few Written at that time and as soon as i allowed myself a second to begin the eye of the world i was hooked. I had read many fictional works over the years and loved all of them but i had never read a novel with as much impact as this. The developement of the story was like nothing i had ever seen before. I felt as though the people in the stories were f…

I grew up reading fantasy and remembered seeing the WoT books but never picked them up until they were recommended to me in 2009. I finished them in about 2 months. I started reading them for the third time last month. I am on Lord of Chaos right now. I am itching to talk and discuss the books with others.. I have found it difficult to find people who have read all of them. I hope this is the place to find such good discussion! As a brief bit on me. I'm 33 and female and my favorite characters in the series are Verin, Min, Mat, Loial, Perrin, Egwene, Aviendha and Birgitte. I feel like I've listed all of the characters. If I had to name one favorite, it would be Ve…

Hi fellow Wheel of Time fans, I have been a long time lurker on the forums and cannot wait to get involved in the community discussions. I love reading fantasy and stumbled upon Wheel of Time several years ago after having finished David Edding's Belgariad and Malorean. I love the world that Jordan so carefully created and breathed life into and still cannot fathom how he manage to populate a world with so many characters that are so believable and relatable to. Hi Everyone, My name is Claire and I have read the WoT books a lot of times, but have never really taken part on DM before, despite being a member I kept reading some of the posts but not really contributing much. I guess I was just a little daunted in the beginning! I am currently re-reading and am up to The Fires of Heaven. I think this is my 4th time reading book 5, although I loose track. I really love these books, it has been such a long time since I first read The Eye of The World and I have really enjoyed every re-read I have ever done. It is great to have such wonderful books that you can pick up and read and it feels like an old friend. I am looking f…

HI this is Shadowmere. I serve the dark one(O.O). i'm re-reading the books because its been about two years since i finished. I love Sanderson's work as well so i don't have any qualms about him writing the last two~ though i kinda miss the detail in Robert Jordan's writing, thats it no more. My favorite character is Matrim Cauthon, that problaby gives you who i used to be... And i find Padan Fain the most intresting character. I like chickens, books and music (U2, Alice in chains, Decemberes and Coldplay). Not to mention i also like skyrim which i think is now quite obvious~.

  26. Hello my name is Sean and i am a Wot reader since 2009, Im more than pumped about the last book coming out less than a year from now and am planning to write fan fiction after the last one comes out..... whether it is good or not remains to be seen. Fav scenes from Wot are def the battle at falme, the first time i ever got tears in my eyes reading a passage from a book, and the forging of the hammer by perrin in the gathering storm. Lan and matt are my fav characters but i love the entire story. Nice to join some fellow fans and i hope to see all of you on the forums

Hi, My name is Laura and I am from the Netherlands. I am 18 and I am a huge Fantasyfan; I bless the day I found the Wheel of Time! (Im reading the translated version though). A few weeks ago I found this website and I love the Theories blog :) I am a kind of writer myself, I'm currently writing a Fantasy story! I'm using the Magic-system from WoT, but the rest is my own imagination. I guess that's all I have to say right now :)

  28. hello all! i may not be the most meticulous reader of the series (only on my 3rd read through) but, just like you all, i cant help but laugh when Mat continues to complain to Talmanas snide (yet hilarious) comments, marvel in Perrin's rise to such modest leadership and of course, cry to Rand's crushing internal war and have those tears turn to joy at the sight of his rebirth in The Gathering Storm....so...so beautiful....but aside from the amazing emotion turmoil that is the Wot im glad i have joined a community that can also appreciate this beautifully crafted epic by the beloved and dearly missed Robert Jordan, May the Light shine on him where ever he may be....

I never really thought about the WOT fanbase and the possibility of interacting with other fans until I went to Dragoncon 2011 and had the opportunity to experience the Wheel of Time fantrack!
