I'm skeptically confused with Perrin's Wolf-telepathy. He can do it with Noam but not with Elyas. Fact: Perrin can't wolf-telepathy Elyas, as he specifically thinks this when Faile get's captured by the Shaido. WH2:Taken I quote the whole thing cause maybe its implying the they actually could? (the second part) Fact: In Perrin's most recent Wolfdreams, mostly in ToM, specifically in the epilogue, he is able to wolf-telepathy Boundless. And way back in book 3, Perrin actually did with Noam in real world. tDR8: Jarra So... what's what? Anyone know if RJ or BS was ever been asked about this and what they said about it?

So who, after reading these wonderful books, had to make a character in there favorite Elder Scrolls/other fantasy game as the Dragon Reborn? I did it in Morrowind and it fit unsurprisingly well. The DR made an excellent Nerevar. Yeah i have no life thats why i post stupid topics.

We know that Cuendillar can survive anything. And we know too, that there are an infinite number of turnings in both the past and the future. So where is this infinite number of Cuendillar objects?

Following Rand's cleansing of saidin, Egwene's Hall is undecided as to what to do about the massive amount of the One Power that was used, thinking it was the Forsaken. Egwene sent a party of sisters to discover what they could at the location and the sisters recognized the residue of saidar and saidin. How could they be such fools to not realize that the Forsaken do not use saidar and saidin? The Forsaken do not use the One Power. Also, why can't Nynavae just inform Egwene of what actually occured at Shaidar Logoth through Tel'a'ranrhiod? Everyone in the series holds back with what they need to inform others of. Excuse my misspellings.

Hello, all. I'm a long time lurker who's just joined because of this odd thought I had during a recent reread. It regards Elayne and Andor. It seems a bit strange to me that Andor would want to have a fully trained and raised Aes Sedai for Queen. Now, most of these thoughts are only relevant early in the series, since once Rand turns up, everything goes crazy. We know Morgase had some basic training in the White Tower, which also seems to be fairly common knowledge in Randland at large, but she was never raised and is very weak in the One Power. Now, Andor is clearly Aes Sedai-friendly, as are most of its close allies and neighbors (the Borderlands and Cairhein). …

I've been lurking here for a long time, and I finally decided to make my first post. So first of all, hello everyone. That said, I've seen various theories floating around about Logain's coming glory, and I thought I'd post my own. I've never seen it posted on here, which is strange, because it always seemed blatantly obvious to me. Maybe I just missed it, or maybe someone else knows of some facts that I personally missed. We know that Logain will gain glory. It will be unprecedented, above all other men. What could possibly lead to such glory? Rand is a man, and he's going to seal/defeat the dark one and save the world, certainly a glorious act. Yet Lo…

In WoT we come across some strange objects/things/people that dont seem to be related to the light or the dark one... or the one power..... yet they do strange things. It seems that under the hood, theres actually a world within the WoT. A world of other "magic" etc... outside of channeling and the general light/dark paradigm we get shown throught he book. Heres a brief list of items/people/things - that exist and effect the world yet arent necessarily OP related or light/dark related: 1. Horn of Valere - we're never told its a terangreal although it does amazing things (calls back dead heros). What do we know of it other than it was creatd in a very ol…

In Siuan's deposition, she's shocked to find her warder, Alric, dead outside her study. How could She NOT feel her bonded warder being stabbed and dieing right outside her door?!? (Although you might argue that the metaphorical stab in the back by her fellow sisters was sharp enough to mask her warder for a moment ) Also, if memory serves, only sisters were involved in that scene. Alric's death is flat out murder. Meaning that the culprit was a sister and has to be Black. Thoughts?

Hello, all! I've been lurking here for some time and think I'd like to finally get into the mix, so to speak. Something I've noticed: there seems to be a fairly broad consensus that the Forsaken are not all they could have been. While I do agree, to an extent, I think the criticism goes further than is true. I would like to start a discussion about the Forsaken as a group, and lay out my defense of them; both in terms of storytelling, and for in-world reasons. To begin, I think I should sum up what I see as the general consensus regarding the Chosen. In general, most seem to think that as villains, they are underwhelming. They have been lampooned as incompet…

i have not read the various blogs of the admins yet...so if this has been mentioned please forgive me...i havent seen it yet in what i have read... I keep thinking about Moridin stating the reasons he went over to to the dark one. oblivion is better then this essentially...he undersands that if the DO wins its oblivion...and theres really nothing left to rule etc...If he is indeed the dark ones equivalent to rand and is constantly spun out and reborn to face the dragon and dragon reborn etc etc.....he prefers an end to it all as opposed to continuing the cycle that simply resealing the DO would create. a constant reincarnation to fight to a draw or lose, unli…

This theory has not been flushed out yet and probably has a million holes, but wanted to throw it out there for comments. So the other day I was listening to the 4th Age Pod cast and they were discussing what the last battle will be like. I was thinking about Fain and that he was traveling in the blight. The discussion of the "what if " battles and my random thoughts on Fain, I came up with the idea for a scenario of the last battle. Rand battling the Dark Lord is a given, but how. Does the DL have a body? Will he take over the Myrddraal (forgot his name, think it translates to the "hand of the shadow or something"). My theory is that the Dark Lord will take ov…

Apparently Verin didn't know Mat as well as she thought; if she figured his curiosity would compel him to open her letter within several days. It just seems like she was confident of finding the Oath Rod to undue her Black Ajah oaths and performing her White Tower errands (outing the Black Ajah members). However, her language in the actual letter contradicts the confdence she showed when parleying with Mat. Now, apparently, the Trollocs and Fades are already inside Caemlyn and a significant part of the city is burning! It's too bad that Rand didn't ward the known Waygates to instantly zap Shadowspawn exiting them instead of the several hour delay designed to allow …

it's always great to notice the little tidbits of foreshadowing that you only recognize during rereads. But I came across a quote yesterday from WH that jumped out as me as possible foreshadowing. WH:25 (Far Madding) Now I can't help but picture poor Rand at the mercies of his women stuck in Far Madding for the rest of his life...

During the Aiel War when Tamra Ospenya was the Amyrlin seat she ordered all Aes Sedai from the tower and sent them to go about healing of all the nations damaged by the Aiel. It was stated by Moiraine in New Spring that the only 2 Aes Sedai left in the tower were Tamra and her keeper. Now Egwene is Amyrlin the last battle is upon the world, there are huge battles going on between the blight and the borderlanders and what is Egwene doing? Spending the majority of her time worrying about Gawyn. (sp) If you think what Rand done in Maradon, im sure a circle of 13 Aes Sedai with a ser angreal could achieve the same. Rand done the equivalent of 50,000+ men in the space of r…

I may have neglected something, but to my knowledge Tuon is the only character specifically referenced obeying nature's call, when she heads to the restroom in that hell Mat takes her to. My question is, after pretty much the whole series, why all of a sudden take the time to mention this? Is this in any way significant? We all know Jordan didn't accidentally put things in...

So i was listening to my audiobooks (for about the 4th time) a now have a question about Nynaeve. I apologize if this was in another thread but i did not see it. While she was taking the test for accepted, she was able to break some of the rules of the ter'angreal. I know when she is raised as a Sister, she breaks rules and it is blamed on her familiarity with Tel'aran'rhiod. However she does not have that experiance at this point. What allowed her to channel while taking the test? Sheriam ( i think it was) said it was designed so that couldn't happen. Anyone know whats going on there? or point me to another thread that has info on this? Thank you, …

A completely academic discussion... Something that I found rather interesting about the WoT is that it is set in a rather matriarchal society. Of course this varies from country to country, within the novel, but by and large it's clear that women are more powerful. For example male channellers are hounded, the Aes Sedai are a very powerful political force (and the Children of Light - while feared - are considered over-zealous troublemakers), Andor is run exclusively by queens and one only has to look to Emmond's Field to see how women can boss men around. However with the cleansing of the [is]saidin[/i], do you think that we'll see "masculinism" in a similar fash…

First of all, sorry if this has been covered already, but I couldn't find it in the search features. Something that has confused me for a while is this: the Dragon is bound to the Wheel and spends his times between lives in TAR. This can be seen in TGH when Hawkwing says something along the lines of 'if you didn't now wear flesh you would know us'. Does this mean that if he dies properly at the Last Battle (and he seals the bore and the world doesn't end) he would instantly turn up in TAR and Elayne and Aviendah could use their ter'angreal to go visit him? Also: is ToM Rand the same person who would rock up in TAR, or does he only have LTT memories and when he die…

If there's a thread, please bump it. I know there's speculation over whether Lanfear really is pleading for Rand's help or if she is luring him into a trap. While I would love for it to be the former, in which case Meirin may be converting back to the Light, which would add great depth to her character, I suspect it's the latter. When Shaidar Haran comes to Graendal in the epilogue of Towers of Midnight, she tries defending herself by saying she can still get to Rand because he thinks her dead, but Shaidar Haran says that task has been given to someone else. It seems too coincidental then that a couple scenes later finds Rand and Lanfear (Cyndane) together, with Lanf…

After reading the forums mentioning who the best swordsmen is in Randland, and the Mat v. Lan forum there was a lot of discussion of Rand's lack of a hand hampering his ability as a swordsmen. Now its a bit of a stretch going from say making a crowbar to making a working bending, pivoting, opposable thumbing hand out of the power. But Rand now has all of LTT memories and such from the AoL couldn't he just channel a hand? I seem to remember, correct me if I'm wrong that somebody had visions, foretelling or something that Rand was seen to have a black hand? Could that be foreshadowing to it? Or am I just pulling feces out of my ass?

I see that a lot of people here are in denial of the Visions Aviendha saw in the pillars. I think this based on the kind of post I read when they mention them. This is probably due to the fact that we all like the Aiel. But if you consider the things that are said by the Aiel, prophecy and some I'm not so sure. I'm not sure where I read this but I remember something that goes something like this; Then if we consider the evidence from WH22: Out of Thin Air They hint on the inevitable end. Remnant of a remnant; The Aiel as they are, are already a Remnant of the Aiel from the AoL, so only a remnant of them will be saved. Their place of old were as servants t…

We all seem to think that they're normal. But can ta'veren really have such things? Can we be sure there isn't more behind it? I think maybe there is. I hope you have ideas... (and I would say "too", if not for the fact that I don't have any idea for more things happening here, except that I somewhere have the feeling there are)

After spending the past two years reading these books, with some breaks here and there and some lags through a couple of the books, I've finally finished the first thirteen books of The Wheel of Time, and it has been incredible. So naturally I'm somewhat left feeling hollow now that I don't have another Wheel of Time book to turn to, and I won't have the last one for another two years it seems (it comes out next year, though, but I won't get around to it until summer 2013). I know I've missed some things through my first read, but a lot has stuck with me, and it feels me with so much nostalgia. This has been the greatest read of my life, the most absorbing series I've eve…

So, most people expect the Dragon's Peace Pipe to be smoked at Merrilor. It's a convenient location, all the rulers gathered except for Demandred, and Egwene and Rand are supposedly going to work out their differences. Who knows how most people expect that the Seanchan will play into it. I guess they think Tuon will be 'humbled' early in the book and Rand will get his way, or something. Or that we'll spend most of the book at Merrilor waiting for her to show up. I have no idea; that's what this thread is for. I think it's a big red herring (and I started the thread because it seems that Luckers at least agrees - beware when we agree on something because it doesn't hap…
