Hey everyone, this is my first post on these forums:P I am currently doing a (slow) re-read of the series and looking forward to Final book in the series. Then I started wondering if any1 else had noticed how Rand, Mat, and Perrin always seems to think the other 2 are way better at handling girls. And then i got real geeky and began to write down page's it appeared at lol:P Anyways EotW: (Orbit books paperback...I think) P 42 Rand thinks Perrin is better p 376/77 Perrin thinks Rand is better p 405 Perrin thinks Rand is better p 463 Rand thinks Perrin is better p 545 Rand thinks Perrin is better p 652 Rand thinks Perrin is better …

Yes, tGS and ToM resolved a lot of plot points, but there are still plenty more to be resolved, and actually having it end everything will force many plot points to be resolved at the same time. How do you think they will be condensed? In my opinion: - Perrin will steal the Black Tower dreamspike and take it to Dragonmount. Slayer attacks him there, but Perrin throws the dreamspike, impaling Slayer and causing him to fall into Dragonmount and die. Then, Logain runs in and beats up Taim until Nynaeve shows up with a new overpowered weave that can heal people of being Darkfriends (somehow). Taim bows to Logain, who becomes the M'Hael, and Androl uses his super-gateway s…

So, I'm curious. For years people have voiced their favor or anti-favor for characters. From what I've been able to deduct, there seems to be an overwhelming tendency to judge the females in the books much harsher than the males. The amount of 'hate' threads going up is quite interesting. Especially in an age where we all pretend to stand for equality. It shows a rather interesting view of our 'real' opinions, burried underneath the politically correct facades. A few examples: Rand acts like a spoiled brat from the moment Moiraine takes him out of the Two Rivers, in all aspects, but he's considered a victom of his circumstance. It's not 'his' fault. He's being p…

Do warders get an extended lifespan because of the bonding? I mean, if they don't die in battle first, how long can a warder live? And, do they get a semi-slowed age rate? And, do you think that the bonding of warders might also have something to do with the shortenened lifespans of Aes Sedai? I mean, I know the Oath Rod shortens their life, but could the bonding effect the lifespan as well?

Hi. I am currently doing a reread of the entire series in expectation of AMoL this Spring. Anyway, I finished up TGS last night and I am currently reading ToM as I write this. I wanted to pose a question to y'all since it has been bugging me. Did any of you notice the odd way in which Sanderson started ToM with the chapter "Apples First" which begins with Rand descends from Dragonmount after he has his inner battle? Next time we see Rand is when he approaches Egwene in Tar Valon after she has already unified the Tower. Then, we cut to Perrin and we see that they are still moving north from Malden when they confront Galad and the Whitecloaks. The thing I cannot …

My original thread was here: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/56617-dont-have-enough-money-for-the-wheel-of-time-books/page__pid__2666440#entry2666440 But they told me to come here Let me just start off saying, I love reading. I love A song of ice and fire series, read them all, loved them to death. My favorite book series are: A song of ice and fire The Dark Tower Michael Vey- New series The Lord of the Rings Series I also use to like the Inheritance Cycle, Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, but realized it was jut a total rip off of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and the books got very boring. I saw The Wheel of Time box set, books 1-3 on am…

I just finished rereading chapter 26 of TSR, one of the most important events in all of WOT. I can't believe I never noticed this before, and I can't think of anyone else bringing it up, though probably some have. (It might go under the heading of The Big Unnoticed Thing, which I hear has something to do with Mat's spear, though I don't know what, and at any rate I have only read up as far as KOD so I don't know what is revealed or what happens past that point.) My realization is this: Mat is a variation on the myth of Odin, from Norse mythology. First there's the hanging from Avendesora, which is reminiscent of Odin's experience (and which was probably originally…

I just read CoS and at the end Rand meets a man whose channeling he can't see (that can easily be resolved by the hidden channeling technique). The man in Shadar Logoth was quite sane and in control. Moridin in prologue and later at Avi's Gateway is not in control, he is especially not in control when thinking of Rand (and the Fisher being a memory of Rand) so there would be no way he could stand and face Rand and converse naturally. Also he has Saa floating across his eyes.

I've recieved so many complaints about this that I'm instituting a new policy, which is--stop twisting every topic, subject, subclause and reference into an opportunity to complain OR protect Egwene or the Aes Sedai. If you mention either it had better be relevent to the topic at hand, and err on the side of caution when deciding whether your comment is relevent, because I'm perfectly willing to be a psycho about this. Comments out of context will be deleted, repeat offenders subject to harsher punishments, up to and including bans. If you want to express your like or dislike of the Aes Sedai/Egwene in every thread, put it in your signature, not in the subject matter …

So, the end is here at last, and I am afraid many people, mainly from Dragonmount and other fansites will not like the book, no matter how awsome it is. Those from the fansites have worked so long and hard on personal theories and predictions that whatever actually happens in AMOL will disappoint them, beacause it doesnt turn out how they want or thought it would. Basically every possible theory on the outcome has been posed, it will not be a big suprise however it turns out. I am really sad that alot of people wont like it because of this. If things dont go how they thought or predicted, it wont be as good. It will be too obvious or simple for those who have tho…

I'm sure most fans have seen Brandon Sanderson's comments on Twitter yesterday but for those who haven't, someone asked him the question if he had seen any theories that were correct about the ending of AMoL or if they were way off and he responded, "Some have hit near it, others are way off. There are some major things I haven't seen guessed." This may not be a big deal of a comment but remember, Sanderson follows the forums here and there so he knows some of the theories going around. Are we truly in for some big surprises or is Sanderson a little behind on the newer big theories? Discuss

Hello, I am aware that this topic has been diskussed earlier but I would like to her your opinion becuase I`m very worried that the writing in last book will be very forced for mr Sanderson to be able to conclude the series in only one more book. I estimate that it is upp to 30-35 plots and more or less inportant "events" that will and must happen for the series to finish of in a great way. Many of these can´t be solved in only one or two chapters for it to be a good and satisfactory reading. I am therefore worried that mr Sanderson must force and cut his writing for be able to put it all in one book. In my opinion mr Sanderson has done a very good jobb in …

I know there are a lot of theories out there about the meaning of the prophecy of his blood on the rocks... means. Here's what I think is a pretty novel interpretation. What if the term "His blood on the rocks" isn't referring to his own blood, but the drink Blood on the Rocks, which is an alcoholic beverage with tequila. This simple inspiration led me to rethink the rest of the prophecy: His blood on the rocks- The beverage that he will serve... of Shayol Ghul- In a bar that he'll cofound at Shayol Ghul (with Demandred? I'm open to interpretation here)... washing away the Shadow- Where people will go to get themselves so drunk they forget all their troubles sacrif…

so wasnt there supposed to be 9 immpossible things that rand was to do based on a fortelling by nicola. well i belive that in the end of tgs during the whole veins of gold going on and what not. he was on the top of dragonmount wich from a story told to him by tam was immpossible (the story was told by rand to nyveane a few chapters b4 it ). so thats one of the 9 he cleansed the taint wich i think was probbally immpossible to most ppl so thats 2 of the 9 he channeled the true power wich should be immposible since he either doesnt have permission and or only the foresaken can use it thats 3 of the 9 taking the stone although it was more mat and the aiel do…

So much has been made of the height and coloring of the Aiel and oft remarked that Rand has the appearance of the Aiel; but what of the Tuatha'an? Why do these folks not resemble the Aiel? Is it perhaps that so much is made of their colorful dress and the ways of the leaf, that the other physical qualities are overlooked?

I feel like Comic Book Guy just for introducing this topic, but it's probably not the first of its kind in this forum. There are mistakes (not typos) that I've seen in reading TDR and TSR. A minor one is in TSR, Chapter 8, when Elayne is said to release saidin, rather than saidar. So Jordan goofed the two forms of the One Power--it's not the only time he did that, I'm sure. A more careless one is also in TSR, in Chapter 16, where Loial talks about running into another Ogier in Tear, by name of Laefar. He refers to him by this name twice. Then, a couple of pages later, he refers to the same character as Faelar. Jordan transposed the consonants--not a common mista…

I've re-read ToM (again!!) and took note of the unspoiled food coming from Caemlyn (Egwene and others were discussing food they were eating) and Faile noted the clear skies over the city when they were off to see Elayne. I've searched the forums (as well as I knew how) and didn''t find any discussions on WHY Caemlyn is getting the same clear skies as Rand is getting... the unborn children in Elayne's belly? Something more important? I have no idea beyond Rand's children, so its probably something simple I missed.

Lews Therin—Our Friendly Neighbourhood Madman Suggested to have begun as early as the Eye of the World, but certainly present by the Shadow Rising Rand has been experiencing the seepage of memory and knowledge from his past life as Lews Therin. At around the same time—though more heavily in the Fires of Heaven—Rand begins to hear a voice which has the mannerisms and knowledge of Lews Therin. Whilst the memories are without a doubt real, in older days there was considerable discussion about the voice. Currently that discussion revolves around the Real Madness Theory and the Construct Theory, which are as follows. The Real Madness Theory—which states that Le…

In the entirety of the Wheel of Time series, each character has a unique name and backstory, regardless of how much screen time they have, and how, in TSR, Nynaeve thinks about how there lots of people in the world named [Whatever The Name Was]. Discounting aliases (eg, Siuan calling herself Mara Tomanes in FoH, naming herself after a little known Aes Sedai), can you think of two characters in the Wheel of Time that have the same first name? I'll even give you a clue- the first character with the name is in The Shadow Rising. The second character's name comes up in Knife of Dreams. There's no prize or anything. Just curious if anyone else caught it. Goo…

Same as annoying female characters. Just a short answer stating who and why. No debates about other peoples answers, it is a topic of opinion, not debating the nature of such answers. There are plenty of topics discussing these characters faults and virtues. Example being my answer. Lan- The foolishness he displays in ToM trying to throw his life away just before, or during Tarmon Gaidon. Again, I would appreciate if this topic is locked if it becomes a debate. Edit: Just to be clear, this poll is taking into account everything that happened in ToM, and the characters should be judged on their current attitude, not that of say, book seven or somethi…

I was just reading in the "The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time" about the Aiel War. There is a section which lists which countries participated at the Battle of the Blood Snow, and how large their forces were. Arad Doman is not mentioned, though in CoT, Rodel Itularde and another Domani lord, Shimron, recount fighting together at the Blood Snow. And if I remember correctly, in New Spring, Lan commands a company of soldiers which includes Domani. So is it a mistake, or did the Domani only send a small contingent which was incorporated in larger groups?

Hey folks. I just wanted to get some thoughts from you guys on something: Will anyone other than Rand ever figure out that Tigraine is Rand's mom? Will Galad ever find out Rand is his brother? Will this play into the ending of the series at all? Or was this simply interesting backstory that really has no bearing on the series at all?

I'm having some serious rage about this. Normaly if a character is iritating i can deal. Irritating can be apart of the characters personality. But this... my jimmys have seriously been ruffled by this character. Most of the time i don't really care that much about her, she is a okay chacter except at these points where she really gets on my flaming nerves 1. In part 3 DR: Egwene shows her real potential of being a annoying chit. "Nyneave is older and wiser then you listen and do what she says you stupid woman. You deserved that massive slap Elayne gave you!" 2. The way she treated Mat after he RESCUED HER FROM CERTAIN BECOMING A DARKFRIEND!!! after she KN…
