*Spoilers* Tarmon gai'don is coming so you think its a good idea to rally rands enemies against him? The Aes Sedai failed the dragon in the past and it looks as if they may do so again. I believe i once saw on here that Robert Jordan was credited for having written strong female characters into his books. To me it seems like half the women are arrogant and reckless. Elayne is pregnant and finds it difficult to channel at times so she decides to confront black ajah sisters without telling anyone? I just finished all the books on audio so i can finally visit these forums without worrying about spoilers!

I have been reading through LoC again and I noticed something about Verin. She was the one who was behind sending the seven sisters to be firm with Rand in Caemlyn thus making him run to Cairhien and the White Tower Aes Sedai. Do you think it was her plan to get him captured, crated up, and taken away? Did she have other plans to do something to him? Also, this is the first time that I realized that Verin talked Alanna into bonding Rand so that Verin could keep track of him. She was a sneaky old Aes Sedai!

Bridgette Always said Gaidal was much younger than her. She also said she had not seen him for a while in TAR before she was torn out. It is said both Gaidal and Olver are ugly. Any thoughts?

It has been 7 months since finishing ToM and beginning reread so my memory is a little foggy but how did Verin know when Caemlyn would be attacked? Obviously she has knowledge from being black ajah but did she go off before writing the letter and got word from Moridin or something that the attack was nearing or what? Discuss

Hey so I'm curious about where Logain and his three best Ashaman went off to. Not sure if this has already been discussed. I remember thinking that they could have been sent to aid Maradon, and Logain was the leader of the Ashaman who got his leg blown off. They never revealed his name, although it seems there would be no point in hiding his identity. Another theory is that Logain is a dark friend and he was the in the group of male channelers who blew up the wall from the Trollocs' encampment. But again, as memory serves the Saenchan chapters mentioned something about "an accident" and an explosion, so they may have been referring to their hidden involvement in t…

"The Wheel of Time" has plenty of combat amongst characters, especially with so many individual wars brewing at the same time. What are the best duels or battles you've witnessed in the series? Some of my favorites: -Lanfear at the docks ("The Fires of Heaven") -Rand versus Rahvin ("The Fires of Heaven") -Rand versus Ishamael at Falme, and also the Seanchan being repelled by the Heroes of the Horn ("The Great Hunt") -Dumai's Wells ("Lord of Chaos") -The Battle Near Shadar Logoth (a.k.a. The Cleansing of Saidin) ("Winter's Heart") -Seige of the Two Rivers ("The Shadow Rising")

Hi all. This is my first topic-launching. Bear in mind that English is not my first langage so I shall make mistakes in my wording ... I want to ask all those who follow Randland since many years : How do you feel about the last book coming ? Personnally, I read the books only once, tried to reread it many times but never achieved to end TEotW more than once (it is SOOO different to the rest of the series that I can't even relate it to the other books actually ... too "standard fantasy" to my taste lol ... Moiraine's staff phaw !). In the other hand I read Wot Encyclopediae, TheoryLand and DragonMount boards (and lost Wotmania) many many times ... I'm des…

  9. I was thinking about how Aes Sedai swear on the oath rod to never say one word that is not truth, and how black ajah have forsaken that oath and can lie, and I started to draw some parallels between that and the Liar's paradox. If you have 1 sister who cannot lie, and 1 who can, could you not pose the liar's paradox question to determine who is black ajah? Something like... "Lets pretend one of you is black ajah, if you were the other Aes Sedai, which one of you would you say is the black ajah?" Then I realized that perhaps because the black ajah sister doesn't have to lie, that might just ruin it. I remember seeing variations on that question involving mult…

  10. I am looking for a bit of help here to understand why so many people seem to believe Rand will be ripped from TAR by Nynaeve or another. I believe that what Moghedien done to Birgitte could be argued as being an objectively evil act. When Heroes of the Horn return to TAR they're not meant to be ripped out of it (and we do not know what effect this has on the Hero's future status as a Hero of the Horn). What are the possible ramifications of having the Dragon Soul essentially removed from where the Pattern demands he be? And all for the sentimentality of his happy ending with Min? And this doesn't even factor in what the Dragon would think of it. Not just Rand al'Tho…

  11. The following are some thoughts that occurred to me this morning. I'd love y'alls opinions on them. The rebel Aes Sedai seemed surprised (and a little irritated) at the quickness the "non traditional' Novices learn the new healing weaves (and I suspect, other similar complex weaves). I'm assuming most of these who are learning faster are older women, above the typical age of 14-18 that they are recruited. We have also seen that Nynaeve not only masters the complex healing weaves from the start of her "training", she is also able to memorize a weave after seeing it and/or practicing it once. As far as Nynaeve goes, I think most of my thoughts and others I have…

Hello all. I just realised in my reread of the series that a lot of the characters I've read about is little adifferent from my imagination during the fist time I read the books. For example Alanna has dark skin and Leane is coppery skinned and so on. I hadn't realised this. That's one of RJs strength, he didn't make this an issue. The problem is that I have to rearrange my mental image of the characters appearance. Is there someone who have some sort of guide so I can get this right in my head before I continue. Hope I haven't offended anyone by this post.

  13. Hi, I just started reading this wonderful series 6 months ago. So far, I'm on book 7. At times, I'm having difficulty remembering the characters and multiple sub-plots. I heard there are 1,880 characters or something other. Obviously nobody is able to remember that much, and most of these characters don't need to be remembered anyways. I'm more concerned about the characters that will return in some way or have some sort pivotal role in the story. A character that is mentioned once just as someone's brother is really of no concern to me. Those names can be forgotten. But when characters comes back after a gap of several books and ends up mattering, that's where it gets a …

Was it only me that got very irritated with the daughter-heir when she managed to get captured by the black ajah in COT which in turn led to the death of two aes sedai and like 600 soldiers? When she got rescued she smiled and said, what took you so long? She dont even feel guilty. What kind of person behaves like that?

Will Rand cause another breaking of the world at the end of AMOL? The reason I'm wondering is some of the quotes in the beginning of a few of the books are from the 4th age and from cities we didn't hear of in the books (meaning it may have been from a city we know of now with a different name).

A week or so ago I saw someone asking about this, but I didn't have a compute. But giving it's a topic I like to bring up every once in a while, I thought I might raise it again. In CoT; 14, What Wise Ones Know, Merilille and Talaan disapear. Yurith sees Merillile leaving the Royal Palace with Talaan, and then they are never heard from again--which is odd, because the apparent reason for them leaving would be to take Talaan to the Tower for training (and gives Merilille a tangible reason to flee the Windfinders). They should have been at the White Tower a long time ago. It should also be noted that Elayne had every Inn in Caemlyn searched, and there was no sign of the…

  17. Hello guys, Not sure if any of you are familiar with my site, but without spamming anything out there, I run a not for profit - Fantasy review/article based website. Anyway, I've been given the opportunity to meet up with Mr Brandon Sanderson for about an hour next week in order to do a video interview... something I'm really excited about and looking forward to presenting to the fantasy community once it is done. The reason I am posting on here is because I'm looking for questions to ask Mr Sanderson that haven't been asked hundreds of times before... I want to give him some more unique and challenging questions that were perhaps missed or avoided in the past…

Im sure we all have one thing in common, that we are hooked on the WOT=) When I first began reading TEOTW it didnt seem very special, maby just another Toliken copy. But as the story evolved I got to know this fantastic world that RJ had developed. A world that had a past and a future. RJ made us get to know his world in the first books and introduced alot of mysteries, the portal stones, TAR, paralell worlds and so on. At the same time as the story was also about the BIG fight between light and darkness and about main charakters personal development. All in all it made a very rich and diverse story!=) So what got you hooked?

From Himiko's post in the thread titled "Elayne". Rand's uber-ta'veren status made all the other ta'veren born around him, and since he was brought to the Two Rivers, that means they were born there, and which also explains why so many channelers have been brought from there since TEoTW. Soooo...Egwene's ta'veren. Duh!

  21. After reading some of these incredibly deep theories in different threads one has to wonder what the Forsaken et al are fighting for. If everything becomes nothingness when the DO 'wins' and no one is reborn, then who will they be ruling over? What good would it be to be Nae'blis? That's great that they will have absolute power, but over whom? If existence doesn't wink right out then they will rule over anyone left alive after the the dark's minions scourge the world, and then no one will be reborn. Doesn't seem like much to shoot for if you ask me. Seems like it would be much more fun (for lack of a better word) for them having a world full of people they can dom…

  22. Started by Seeker Matt,

Does anyone have any thoughts on why Rand basically left the Black Tower to Taim? It just seems a little nonsensical to me that while Rand was going on the whole "don't trust anyone" trip he decided it would be a smart idea to 'trust' Taim with the gathering and teaching of hundreds of male channelers without any kind of supervision whatsoever. I guess I just find it a little jarring with his other actions and priorities throughout his journey. Even with the knowledge of the AoL, a single Forsaken or even several working together would seem to me to be much less of a threat than hundreds of extremely dubious Asha'man. He shows that is is quite capable of sophistic…

Will the Wise Ones fight in TG? - Malden: about 400 wise ones able to channel, only Shaido - 12 clans (exempting the Jenn) = about 4800 channelers(?), even if half of them is just as strong as Sorilea (which I doubt) there are still a good 2500 channeling woman... I might think that's more then there are AS and Damane combined at this side of the ocean. On a side note: If Aiel were abandonning Ji'eh'Toh during their war with the Seanchan in Avi's vision, why didn't the Wise Ones participate? When more and more of them get collared as the war carries on, shouldn't they have come to some sort of understanding that it was needed to participate to survive? If ce…

  24. Just finished Knife of Dreams, and I'm impressed. The series has been going downhill since Lord of Chaos and reached its lowest point with Crossroads of Twilight. But Knife of Dream redeemed it. But my question is: Is it liked because it's the closest to reach the levels of Lord of Chaos since that book, or is it liked because after CoT, it just seems so good? I think it's liked because it finally ties up the overbearing Perrin/Faile storyline, and seems to do so with Mat's as well, and Elayne's is obviously making progress now that she has the throne secured, and even Egwene's small chapter in the book is interesting because it's laying the foundation for what is to come…

When I saw the BUT post stickied at the top of the page, I thought this would be the one. Everyone I talked to never thought of this before. When Herid Fel described the nature of the Wheel of Time, he said that at this point, the DO's prison was closed, here it was broken into (as we see Miern/Lanfear do in Rand's visionquest,) here it is patched, here the patch weakens, and here it's closed again and the cycle begins anew. What this immediately said to me: 1. The DO is the one who drives the Wheel of Time. 2. There is no "creator" who originally made it. 3. This cycle has been repeating for many thousands of years, if not ages. When the prison is closed…

Due to his marrage to Tuon, Mat is now the heir to the Seanchan throne. The Seanchan would presumably have representatives at the FoM, but either due to the second attack on Tar Valon or her sence of importance it is likely that Tuon herself would not be present at the FoM. Therefore, Mat would be the highest-ranking Seanchan there, and thus able to agree to Rand's terms on behaf of the Seanchan. This would also appariently be in keeping with how the Prince of the Ravens acts, as in one of the books Tuon thinks that having a Prince of the Ravens that she does not have to plot against is too good to be true. Another option is that Mat's title refers to power he has ov…

He must be someone known in the histories like Rand is Lews Therin etc....he's a great battle leader...the red hand...who was the leader of Manetheren...aemon??? hmmm interested in your thoughts.

I haven't checked for any signs with Lan being Ta'veren in any other books besides New Spring but this is what i've found so far: If he didn't twist in his saddle the moment Moraine said something to him he would of taken an arrow to his heart. Lord brys young son Diryk fell off a balcony but survived the fall and Brys said Lan's "luck" has rubbed off on Diryk. While following Merean Sedai he gets pushed by the one power down the stairs and servent's exclaim over how he was lucky to survive the fall.
