Okay, everyone should sit down for this. We know that our world is a past(and therefor future) age in the wheel. Did Robert Jordan write The Wheel of Time in that past age? yeah I know, it's crazy, right?

  2. We know they have a stockpile of Aes Sedai items given to them during the Age of Legends. But do they have any of the Ter'angreal that allow ordinary people to create Ter'angreal? The kind that were used to mass produce Ter'angreal iPods during the Age of Legends? It seems that it would make sense for them to have it sense it would allow them to replenish their stock.

Hi, Please Read My Post. I'M NEW (to Dragonmount), but we're all awesome because we read this series....and Slightly off topic, but I'm calling dibs NOW on playing Mat in a movie.....BOOM..pretty sure that's legally binding right there. I'm on my 3rd read-through of WoT and just read Chapter 8 (Jarra) of The Dragon Reborn. Not the best chapter in the book/series by far...and definitely not the worst...but WOW, what a HELL of a chapter for Perrin. One of those chapters where Jordan ninjas in an ocean-liner-cargo amount of character development, backstory, and Ta'veren stuff...basically a heady little short story inside 14 pages that I obviously didn't catch my fir…

  4. I'm re-reading book 4, and I just got to the part where mat was cut from the tree and has his Ashandari, and it raised an old question in my mind... Why did the foxy folks give it to him? He asked for 1) A way out, 2) A way to be free of the Aes Sedai, and 3) Memories to fill in the holes in his own. Well he got the way out, he got the foxhead medallion, and he got dead guys' memories. Where did the blasted Ashandari come from?

  6. After I read Eye of the World I thought wow this may be one of the best books I have ever read....then I read the Great Hunt and said the same thing. Now without a doubt I can say the Dragon Reborn is the best book of any genre I have ever read. The way the individual stories came together was so awesome to see it unfold before you, and final 100 pages were so captivating I don't think I glanced up from the book once. I loved the evolution of the all the characters and although I have always held Perrin as my favorite, after Mat left Tar Valon and had the "change of luck" I absolutely relished every one of his chapters. I am trying to think of my favorite …

Hi, I'm new here and new to WoT for the most part. I have only read the first 3 books so far, so I would appreciate no spoilers about further books in this thread please :-). I have a lingering question from book 2 that won't stop bothering me. A significant portion of the plot was dedicated to Bayle Domon sailing to Falme. 1) Who compelled him to go and why? He was basically forced to go west because he found out if he went east he would be killed (I forget all the details). Do we ever find out who was behind this? 2) What was the point (plot-wise) of him even being in Falme? Sure, the girls found him and convinced him to help them escape, but then that tur…

Based entirely on this beautiful quote from Robert Jordan I say that Rand will die at the end of the final book. "He came like the wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind, was gone." Makes me well up every time I read that quote.

  9. Firstly, I apologise if this idea has been covered elsewhere. I have tried looking and I could not see anything obvious. My question seems stupid at first glance, I know, but I have been thinking. Min's Viewing was that Cadsuane has something "very important" to teach Rand and all the Asha'man. Up until now, everyone has assumed that this was teaching Rand how to laugh and cry again, but I've often wondered how that transferred onto the Asha'man. After all, not all of them are insane, and now that Nynaeve can Heal insanity and the Taint is no more, I don't see insanity being a major problem for men who can channel any more. So, what if Cadsuane hasn't taught Ran…

I'm re-reading the series for about the oh, eighth time and a lot more of this prophecy is starting to make sense to me. I thought I would write down my theories and compare with others. I never liked to think that Rand would die, but it seems that Rand will die. Lanfear is pretty crazy, so it seems that she will hunt him down in Tel'aran'rhiod. I wonder if she will drag him out of it like was done to Birgitte or if the last battle will be fought here? Most of the important characters can enter Tel'aran'rhiod, so it would make sense that the battle is here. I love this line because I now think it's a wording trick. Dark One (Father of Lies) = death beyond dyi…

I was just wondering..if the Horn is blown and the Heroes come, what happens to the heroes that are already alive again? Gaidal is supposedly an infant, Birgitte etc. Will they show up or what?

  14. Started by tlburchhardt,

It's pretty obvious that some of the characters from the series are based on ancient myths. Since everything is a cycle wouldn't they be the beginning of the myths? Everyone says that Perrin is similar to Perun, but what if Perun is an interpretation of what Perrin does. Maybe our age is coming up and Rand, Artur, Mat, and Perrin are the bases for our mythology. Also, as a side note, if our age is coming eventually something has to happen to all of that channeling because I have yet to meet anyone who can shoot fireballs from their hands.

  15. Hi all Just doing my 4th complete re-read in readiness for AMOL, just on The Great Hunt first couple of chapters and something that I have been pondering over since by first read. The Amrylin Seat has just arrived at Fal Dara and Rand is making haste to get out of the city, yet when he goes to the Kings Stables, the stablehand won't let him have his horse as there has been a command that no-one is allowed to leave, so he makes his way to a side gate and Maesma and Ragan (i think) are on guard and they won't let Rand through as they have just received the same message from Uno that no-one at all is allowed to leave. So Rand goes off on his way and eventually meets …

So, has anyone ever seen or have any idea how the "Oath of a Hunter of the Horn of Valere" might be worded? I know it's nowhere in the books, but I'm running a RPG (about 500 years before the novels) where this oath may come into play.

Wow! My Aunt gave me the first couple books(along with her strong recommendation) for Christmas a few years ago and for whatever reason I never read them. I finally picked up EotW, and I was enthralled. At first, I found that RJ's writing style made it a little challenging to stay focused...once I got used to it however, I tore through the book. But the reason I made this thread is to show appreciation for one specific line. It just hit me as so powerful, I know it's one of those things that, for me, I'm just never going to forget. It's near the beginning, after Trollocs first attacked their farm and Rand came back to the house to gather supplies and…

  18. In the book Magician by Raymond E. Feist, a book I'm sure most of you are pretty well acquainted with, the Tsuarani world is almost devoid of natural metals because a civilisation had almost mined all of it before they had settled the world. If there had been Age after Age before Randland's own Age, don't you think the world would be a little low on metal? And yes, I get that a lot could have been taken from ruins etc, but seriously, thousands upon thousands of civilisations would have mined the world to find stone for building, metal for weapons etc, and we see no evidence of any replenishment during the Ages. Thoughts?

We know the DO is stuck in his fiery toilet pool of lava in SG and his Forsaken minions are breeding Trollocs, bringing them into Randland, recruiting Dreadlords. All of this is to start a mass assault on the world and conquer it. One question has never ceased to bug me: WHY? Why does the Dark One need to conquer the world? Why does he need Trollocs? Let's imagine his armies destroy the light-side armies, what next? How will accomplishing that help him escape his prison? Various possibilities: He needs the remaining Forsaken to perform a super secret dark ritual w/o any interference from the light-siders and needs to subdue everyone first He needs to…

I know Jordan confirmed that Mazrim Taim is not Demandred, but did he ever shut down the possibility of Taim being Moridin? I notice striking similarities myself, most notably, of late, the adoration with all things black and red. I know this theory has been circulating around here and elsewhere, but I'm not familiar if Jordan has denied it. Someone in another thread mentioned that Taim doesn't seem as "insane" as Moridin, or as off-beat, eccentric, etc. But that could be part of Taim's disguise, and could we really say Taim hasn't shown some signs of eccentricity or even insanity?

Rand has Moridin, DO, and Fain to contend with. Perrin has Slayer to contend with. Mat already killed the Gholum, and exited the Tower of Genji, so he doesn't really have an enemy that has been building for several books. Sure he will be involved, and up to his usual antics, and all his other stuff, but what does he got going for him as far as a huge conflict?

Through out the wheel of time series you see a number of aes sedai using the power as a weapon to force other people to do what they want such as forcing rand into the box with binds of air. For me i would consider this to be using the power as a weapon cause they couldnt have forced him in without it, another example is elaida attacking egwene with weaves of air and i dont know how anyone can determine that not to be using the power as a weapon? doesnt this mean that in a battle they could just do massive air weaves and knock the armies over? what is actually considered using the power as weapon does it mean blasting someone with fire? Even a shield is considered a weapo…

  26. SO, in the Dragon Reborn, Verin tells Egwene that The Dark One and the Creator exist at the same time on many different worlds. Also, that the Dark One is imprisoned on all of these worlds. Was just wondering, is the DO imprisoned in Shaoul Guhl in all of these other worlds, or some other location? The reason I am asking is, with the way the Pattern is bending currently in the series, is it possible for the pattern to have bent a certain way to free the DO from his prison without anyone knowing it? Thoughts? Thanks

"He intended one for Olver and the other for Tuon, once he could find her." Into the Void ToM This is mat talking about the foxhead copies. So if mat gets to Tuon before egwene and the super girls can convince her to start channelling she wont be able too. He also wont be able to get her to start channelling. And I imagine (my speculation) she wont be able to hold a damane anymore. So this could spell doom for the theory that the practice of damane will end due to Tuon channelling

I don't know if anyone else wondered this cause I'm too lazy to read everything... but wouldn't it be kind of cool if Noal ended up being a Hero of the Horn and bound to Mat? I mean, of all people, wouldn't Jain Farstrider be a Hero! There really isn't much of a discussion, I guess, just something I'd like to see in the end.

Heya, Here's the random topic of the week. So im rereading TsR, and i have found numerous parts where the POV character wonders how a dragon actually look, and where they come from. So im wondering, any of you have any theories regarding dragons in WoT? Will they be a plot in AmoL, or just some small side plot for perhaps the mat trilogy? I was thinking perhaps they were discovered in different worlds you reach from the portal stones? DISCUSS :)
