OK... This is all horribly paraphrased, but near the end of KoD, when Tuon says those fateful words and latches on to Mat's greatness forever (heh, heh), he asks her why she married him "now". She says she got a foretelling of sorts that mentioned her marrying a guy that 1- had Mat's ring. 2- could remember Hawkwings face 3- had a Red Hand with him She said she saw his ring right away and then said he confirmed the second part "just then"... What just then?! I've reread the parts of KoD with Mat and Tuon in them several times and don't see anywhere that he mentioned to her knowing what Hawkwing looks like. He had just told her about how the 'finns told h…

Hi All, Here's my thoughts on 4 men who could learn: 1. Thom - He's related to a channeler: his nephew Owen. Also, he is so old, now that he's Moiraine's warder, he'll be too old to travel the world telling stories with her. But if he learns to channel, he could grow younger and have more time together. Lastly, in EotW, Min sees a viewing around Thom of the White Tower. Could it be that he will eventually reside there or be connected to it? Seems plausible. 2. Gawyn - Also related to channelers: mom and sis. Again, he's bonded to Egwene, she'll out live him by hundreds of years unless he learns to channel. I have this idea that Rand will tell him he can ch…

Okay. Egwene gave Aviendha a necklace which she treasures greatly. They are near-sisters. Elayne and Aviendha are sisters now. Elayne and Egwene have been friends since they were novices. Does anyone think Aviendha will become Egwene's sister through the Aiel ritual. Does anyone think Egwene and Elayne will go through the same ritual in the last book? Egwene is also admired by the Wise Ones. Oh and there is also Min who is friends with Elayne and Egwene. And is tied in with the whole loving Rand thing with Elayne an Aviendha. What do you guys think of this whole situation?

I am looking for copies of each book, including New Spring, to keep as collectors items. I would prefer ones that have been signed by RJ, but will take usigned copies as well. I will pay anyone on here for their copies, but if no one would like to sell, I would like to know any sites or stores that have them.

Hi All Mods I'm not sure if this is in the right section, please move to the appropriate one. Like all of us on this board, I'm a huge fan of the series. I am also a massive fan of painting fantasy miniatures from companies such as reaper miniatures and dark sword miniatures. After acquiring some of the GRRM Martin miniatures produced by Dark Sword, I searched everywhere for some miniatures based on The Wheel of Time books. Unfortunately none exist so I was sore out of luck. I have since been in contact with a professional sculptor and I am hoping to get him to sculpt some miniatures based on the characters in the books which I could then produce and hopefull…

So i'm rereading Eye of the World to get me in the WoT mood for the new book, and I just noticed an error. It may just be my copy, but i noticed a direct repeat. On pg 382, a farmer gives Rand and Matt a pair of scarfs, explaining they belonged to his sons, that "they have others. You don't know me, understand? It's hard times." This exact same paragraph, verbatim, is repeated on pg 416. Can anyone check their book? I want to know if it's just in my copy. Thanks.

One thing about the ending that I never understood was why Moridin's body was not put under guard. Nynaeve and Moiraine didn't know that Moridin was really Rand did they? They saw Rand battling Moridin in Shayol Ghul. I mean it would be kind of odd to just let a random body that walked out of Shayol Ghul go free. Anyway, I didn't understand that part of the book. Other intreprations are welcome.

Why is Rand so ridiculously sexist? ??? That whole list of women whose deaths he blames himself for is way overkill. I don't understand why he feels worse for the death of a darkfriend woman than for a loyal Aielman who died for him. It just makes no sense that he can't kill a woman but can kill a man. It's driving me nuts...if it was just Rand I could attribute it to a thick skull, but Perrin and Mat seem to harbor the same feelings! Does anyone understand that whole "worse to kill a woman" thing? It just seems so fake to me. How dare he base his level of guilt for a death on gender! >:( It's almost insulting, as if he believes the woman did not stand as good o…

This thread is for new posters to ask specific questions about issues they are confused about. There is a thread like this in the General Board, but it seems worthwhile to have a tGS version. The example raised in the request for this thread was: I have been wanting to ask whether Rand is aware that Galad is his half brother? I mean I know Rand knows Rand's backstory but not sure if Rand knows Galads. Not really worth a thread though. Go.

OK, so this may be a total noob question, but I just had to know: I read on the TV Tropes page for Wheel of Time that there was a page dedicated entirely to describing a dress somewhere in the series, so: 1) is this true? 2) If it is true, which book and page is it? Thanks!

Feel free to post a link if this was answered before: What gives warders that 'deadly, wolf-like grace'? I always assumed that warders were simply the best swordsmen and the best fighters; that deadly grace of danger that can only be learned in experience. The bonding itself should not be able to do that; much like training to be Aes Sedai requires learning how, and when, to use the Power. The bonding itself enhances already (presumably) finely-honed reflexes, gives him extra senses and boosts his stamina, endurance, etc. (much like the famed Blackcollars in "Blackcollar").

So at the end of KoD, Furyk Karede shows up at Mat's camp with one Sul'dam, Melitene and one Damane, Mylen formerly the Aes Sedai Sheraine. The three Aes Sedai with Mat, Joline, Edesina and Teslyn recognize her and demand she be freed. At that time, Joline gasps and all three are apparently shielded. One channeler being able to singlehandedly shield three opposing channelers seems to go against what we know about and have seen regarding shielding. Nynaeve and Moghedien are about equal in strength (at that time) and duel for several minutes attempting to shield one another. I checked the Encyclopeadia WOT to check my facts on that chapter but the i…

*SPOILER WARNING* don't read if you haven't read past book 5 I recently started reading throught the series for the first time (currently between Fires of Heaven and Lord of Chaos), and i must admit, i'm hooked. However there is one thing that has been nagging me since the start; The female characters. All they do is whine, bicker, lift brows, berate, tug their braids, lift their chins, and cast cold stares. The only passable female character is Min, and maybe Moiraine, but only because she has a right to do what she does, seeing that she has sacrificed her whole life for the world, and her dying at the end of FoH (along with her letter) sort of redeemed her in my eye…

So, reading the thread about Aes Sedai strength, I thought it may be good to review the heavy hitters in terms of OP. Obviously strength in the OP isn't everything, but it is a good indication of ability (more strength means more weaves available like Travelling etc..) So, I thought before aMoL, it would be interesting to have a look at the strongest channelers (split into male/female) and see what threat or help they may give. First off, the females, since 13th Depository has a relatively accurate list of ranking for saidar users. Female: At the top we have Cyndane: Alivia is her equal strictly in terms of power, however, considering Lanfear's overwhelmin…

Aes sedai come from all lands, but girls born in tar valon are the most likely to have the chance. those from faraway lands have to take the long voyage to the distant city to be tested on the off-chance of having the spark, while those born in tar valon just have to take a short hike. they may easily be discovered by a passing aes sedai on the street. Compound on that tar valon being the most populous city, and having no prejudice against the tower, unlike most other lands, I'd expect a statistically large amount of aes sedai coming from the city and its surrounding. Yet I can't recall a single one. is there a reason for this oddity?

Well, I did it, I finally did it. It took me 13 months and it feels like I can breathe again haha. While it's fresh, I thought I'd try and get down some of my thoughts. Overall, it was a very enjoyable series. Intriguing plots, characters and magic were all delightful. It was a daunting task to start though, knowing there were 14 large books (no, I haven't read New Spring yet, I didn't want to get sidetracked after book 5). After several of the middle books I would come up for a breath of air and think, 'Wow, I've finished 8 books, awesome! But I still have 6 more to go!' Glad I finished though, and that I started this when all the books were finished, be…

Hey there, I’m new to the wheel of time community and am reading the dragon reborn. I am am currently at the part where Perrin, Loial, Moraine and Lan are on the ship going after Rand and Perrin sees Selene/Lanfear talking to Ba’lzamon. But ba’alzamon and Lanfear both refer to the dark one in third person. Up until now I thought ba’alzamon was just another name for the dark one. Then who is the person who kept coming in Matt, Rand and Perrin’s dreams up till now? I looked this up on google and am now even more confused. Would appreciate it if someone would explain this without any spoilers for the dragon reborn and the books after it. Thanks

I was re-reading "The Shadow Rising" and when Siuan Sanche got deposed what right did Gawyn have to run around killing warders. He was a student in the tower with absolutely no role or responsibility in the tower. He poked his nose into something he should not have, allowed Elaida to rule and killed his masters.Well done. I hope he gets burned into ash by Rand in AMOL.

I just started reading the Winter's Heart (finished the prologue) and I am on the verge of giving up on the series... Again and again the main characters are acting as spoiled children with no clue about inter personal relationships or even how leaders should act. For example, Rand keeps treating the Ashamen as disposable garbage, never making any effort to induce loyalty, he just expects blind obedience for nothing in return... I am guessing the writer wants to build up to something with the Asha man, either they will all go insane or turn out to be darkfriends BUT from how Rand is treating them I was not surprised that some of them rebelled against him alrea…

As we know dreamspikes work in T'A'R but prevent construction of gates in real world. Gates supposedly work by bringing two places together. This led me to some interesting thoughts: 1. 1. It seems that travelling needs T'A'R to work; 2. 2. Bringing places ”together” is very easy in T'A'R but should be impossible in real world; 3. 3. Maybe by opening gates in real world you open first gate from your place to T'A'R and immediately a second one from T'A'R to your destination and these two gates are brought together and merged in T'A'R so you just see one gate? And in fact you are travelling from one place to the other through T'A'R? …

Hey guys, Faelene here, asking another random question for my artwork. ( I asked before which finger Elayne wore her Serpent ring, and was suprised when someone actually knew. :o) I need your extensive knowledge of the series, since I have about the worst memory ever. Does anyone know which book Rand starts keeping a list of the women he feels responsible for killing? Would it be about the time Moiraine had that cat fight with Lanfear? Or better yet, does anyone know specific times when he starts rambling off that list? I know he does, just can't remember when. I'm working on ideas for my submission to the WoT calendar and am possibly going to use thi…
