There are some really catchy quotes, those that are memorable and stick with you. What ones come to mind to you? One that I really like (I can't remember who says it) from Winter's Heart: "She's channeling saidin." - In response to Aran'gar seizing saidin during the Cleansing of Saidin Of course there's also "Kneal, or be knealt." - Taim (Lord of Chaos - post Dumai's Well battle) What other great ones come to mind?

I just finished the series for the first time yesterday. Loved it. Egwene was my fav. I'm still reeling. My book club (who didn't read the books) asked me summarize the saga in one sentence. I said "Farmer contemplates time." I asked my friend who has read the books and he said "90s Lord of the Rings but you see every city and the magic has rules." How would you summarize Wheel of Time in one sentence?

Hi! So, I've been analizing references to real world mythology on WoT, and how they converge at certain points. But, at the central spot, there's the connection between zoroastrianism (or Mazdeism), and the Wheel of Time's myth of creation. You have The Creator in Ahura Mazda (creator God), The Dark One's parallel in Angra Mainyu (Adversary to Ahura Mazda), and the final savior in the figure called "Saoshyant", which resembles the Dragon Reborn: Both are born from a Maiden some years prior to the Final Battle, and both are supposed to cleanse the corruption cast in the world by the Dark One/Angra Mainyu. I've put together a video, part of my series of reviews on the serie…

Hello all! Do you think Moraine destroyed the twisted redstone doorframe on purpose to trap Lanfear with her? She put the ivory bracelet angreal on the cart not only to lure Lanfear, but she may have known it would also destroy the doorframe itself when used inside the doorframe, trapping them both inside. When Egwene had her test for Accepted we have seen how dangerous would be to just keep her ter'ngreal (twisted stone ring) near the Silver Arches, and here a used one angreal has been put inside the redstone doorframe with them. I believe this led to the fires and total meltdown of the twisted redstone doorframe, not just from Moraine and Lanfear themse…

RW= Rand World The general consensus is that RW is Earth in another Age but is it? Yes we have the stories Thom tells about Len, Moska, Merk and Anla but all that does is proves that the Humans of RW are descended from Humans that evolved on Earth, it does not prove that Humans evolved on RW. The big issue against RW being Earth is the Global Map, it is completely and totally different. I find it difficult to believe that the insane Male Aes Sedai could have so completely changed the Map of Earth without making Earth totally unliveable and wiping out all life. I think it would be more likely to be a Map that has some resemblance of Earth. My possi…

-Once a weave is cast, how long does the residue last? How long can some other channeler come and copy the weave from the residue and duplicate the effect? -Can males see Saidin being woven, like women can see Saidar woven? Why hasn't there been a duel between male channelers like there was with Moggy and Nynaeve, where they were consistantly cutting each others weaves? -Gateways: Can someone open a gateway to the exact same location someone else opened it too just by looking at the weave residue? If so, how is this possible, as the location to be Travelled to would have been in the head of the person who originally opened the Gateway? Thanks! Oh and anoth…

Hello reader, I'm a new reader to the wheel of time series, so far I'm about a third into 'The dragon reborn', and loving every minute of each read, but one thing keeps bugging me!!! I purchased the books second hand and were published in the same year as release. Each book has the initials of the book title at the bottom of every 10 pages or so followed by a dash (-) and a number which increases with each entry. (See attached photo from chapter 20 of dragon reborn). I have try to figure out all possible meanings of this and search online, what could it possibly mean?!!! Somebody please enlighten me! Thanks, Luke P.S: i…

I am reading the series for the fourth time and I just noticed something that I should have questioned before. I don't know if others have pointed this out but maybe someone has an explanation for me. At he beginning of Eye of the World, we find Lews Therin after he has gone insane and destroyed his family. Elan Morin appears to torment him and heals his madness so that he can realize what he has done. The question is, Lews Therin and the companions sealed the dark one and the forsaken into the bore. It was then that the dark one placed the taint one the male power, causing the male Aes Sedai to go mad. If Elan Morin/Ishamael was sealed away, how did he appear to Lew…

"We rode on the winds of the rising storm, We ran to the sounds of the thunder. We danced among the lightning bolts, and tore the world asunder." So ends Book 10 of the Wheel of Time. I have some thoughts. This was my third read of this book. I read it first at release, again in 2009, and just finished again today. First, I'll address what I liked. I enjoyed the structure of this book. That may be controversial, because many others find this book frustrating, but humor me. It went; Mat then Mat adjacent, Perrin then Perrin adjacent, Elayne then Elayne adjacent, Egwene then Egwene adjacent, then Rand. Then, a Perrin c…

So, i've read many fans complaining about small problems in the last three books. and while the general consensus is that sanderson did a good job in front of incredible difficulties, ultimately the only person qualified to finishing wot was robert jordan himself. However, i considered a few things that are making me doubt that. namely, regarding whether robert jordan himself would have done a good job finishing the wot. it starts from game of thrones. now, i'm not a follower there, so all i hear is third-hand accounts, but JRRM hasn't written any new book in... what, 8 years? and apparently he started many times, but he always scrapped it all. the tv sho…

Always curious to hear how other people pronounce names and objects in the world of Randland. A few of my favorites that I refuse to pronounce like the glossary says, first is mine, second glossary: Amys (AIMS), (a-MEES) Birgitte (Burr-GEET), (Burr-GEET-ey) Cairhien (Care-in), (KEYE-ree-EHN) Ogier (Oh-gear) <-- Also how it was in glossary in tEotW (Oh-gerr) Morgase (More-gahs), (More-GAYZ) ta'veren (Tah-veh-ren), (Ta-veer-en Rhuidean (Rue-eh-din), (RHUY-dee-ann) Taim (Tame), (Tah-EEM) Logain (L…

Greetings I am not a regular to these forums but, I have read all of the wheel of time series and enjoy it greatly. I am curious if any of you would be so kind as to provide me with the Names or a guide to relative equivalents to several weapons listed in the books. Of course very little will be exactly as Mr. Jordan described it however there are a few that I would greatly enjoy researching and possibly eventually crafting a few myself. The weapons in Question are: Ashandarei - Japanese naginata Aiel Spears (there are many different types of spears from around the world I am looking for a specific close comparison)- suggested to be a pilum Perrin's Axe Aiel …

I've been looking hard for good (modest) WOT art for a project I'm working on, preferably cartoonish. (See the attachment.) I'm looking for whoever made that photo, and if they made any more! I can't find anything! Just articles about the pictures, but not any more.Does anyone here know where there are more like the one attached? Thanks!

In Tel'aran'rhiod, the dream becomes what you believe. Mat believes he is lucky, so combined with his "luck" ability, and him making himself lucky, he would be incredibly hard to hit with anything. He might just get "lucky" and the person's heart would stop or their ball of fire would hit one of his enemies. Having the memories of old generals have taught him concentration and focus, making him more prepared for Tel'aran'rhiod. Many victories in the world of dreams have been surprise attacks, or unexpected moves. Mat's double luck would make him perfect for executing and avoiding these tactics. Of course, he would have to have a ter'angreal ring that would allow a non-cha…

I know this is probably a bit late for all you people who have been reading the series for ages, but I only just started, so... Am I the only one thoroughly peeved by this relationship? From the beginning I've loathed Nynaeve and Lan has always been my favourite, but even with that I could have dealt with the relationship if it hadn't been so sudden. Excepting a few minor hints all I see is the pair suddenly proclaiming their undying love for each other. What happened to the build up? A little background? And lets add to that the fact that I really don't see Lan as 'the marrying type.' It really just doesn't happen for me.

Okay, so we know that the Eelfinn can grant wishes and that the Aelfinn answer questions. But I think that this power was seriously underused in the books. For example, why can't the Eelfinn create a permanent seal on the Dark One's prison? Things concerning the Shadow in the realm of the Aelfinn and Eelfinn are dangerous, yes, but it seems like the Eelfinn have the ability to do pretty much anything, and someone would have taken that risk and stopped the Breaking. I'm going to move over to the fox head medallion, to try and explain why there was only one, and possibly when the Bargain with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn was made. While it is possible that some…

I'm trying to make a Wheel of Time inspired board game for me and my friends to play, but I need some help with facts. I just have the book on audible, so I can't skim around to find out what I need to know. Please help! What countries did Rand control in books 10-12? Were their alliances between countries? Was Andor allied with Tarabon? Thanks!

I understand that Rand was spotted at the battles which led to Merillor, as he intended, and Mat's skill as a general, augmented by memories of countless previous lives, made Demandred believe he was facing someone from his age i.e. Lews Therin. This to me seem insufficient. He must have known that a battle was being thought at Shayol Ghul, everyone who was fighting for the light at Merillor knew that the Dragon was at Shayol Ghul, so his spies should have known this, and just before Egwene's death I believe she can feel the channelling of saidar coming from the pit of doom, so naturally Demandred should also feel the saidin being channeled. One theory I had, which I give…

This is a very touchy topic, but I'm going to give it my best shot. #1 Ishamael/Moridin. This is obvious, Rand's main Archrival and Na'eblis. Insane power, a philosopher who creates dreamshards and is completely devoted. #2 Demandred. He is basically defined as a lesser version of Lews Therin which comparatively, makes him one of the strongest Forsaken. A master tactician, he rivals Mat and almost leads the armies of the shadow to victory. He possesses a sa’angreal stronger than callandor (not counting amplifying the power of the dark one) and complete dominance of Shara (a nation about 400 channelers, and a gigantic military force). He kills both Gawyn with t…

When Semirhage was captured and Rand lost his hand, why wasn’t balefire considered to restore Rand? I understand ruling it out - after all having a captive Forsaken could be quite valuable. But it never was discussed in either KoD or tGS. Anyone else find it odd? Just never came up...

Okay, let's not mince words here, near enough ALL the romances in WOT are forced. Almost all are eye roll worthy too. But which one is the worst? Which is the one that comes the most out of nowhere? Which is the one that just doesn't make any kind of real world sense? Which is the one that just feels pointless? Where I am in book 8, Siuan/Bryne seems to be shaping up to be the most meaningless relationship ever. Maybe because the narrative keeps on rubbing it in our faces that they're gonna get together and that the other characters keep mistaking their affection for something else. (it's a running gag that wore out it's welcome 5 books ago in my opinion) (thi…

I was wondering if a Malkieri man could take off the hadori, however temporarily. I imagine that if the ki'sain was washed off unintentionally somehow, the woman who wore it would still be a woman. But how about Malkeri men? If they lose the hadori, or have it removed, perhaps forcefully, or even just to wash their face, what happens? Is it taboo for a Malkieri man to have his forehead bare? If not, how long and in what circumstances is he allowed to remove it? This has never been touched on in the books (to my knowledge at least). Did Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson ever mention it?

I remember reading that Rand went to the Seanchan Empire and entered the capital to confront the man who took control while Tuon was away. He allowed himself to be collared but freed himself with the true power and then freed all the damane who then began their revenge on their captors. Can anyone tell me where this occurs? I can't find it. I know I didn't dream it. Oliver

So not sure if this has come up anywhere else, but does anyone think that there could be a matt/tuon spin off. I remember reading that there wasn't any notes for BS to continue the WOT(moors the pity of course), but what about going back to Tuons home land and work that angle and new prophecies and battles and intrigue?

He sends thousands of men into battle and watches them die but when a woman warrior dies he has to stop what hes doing and remember her face. This and that he wouldn't kill women forsaken even though the women forsaken seemed to do the worst things during the AOL really rubbed me the wrong way.
