Before and while reading "The Gathering Storm" I was so convinced that Moraine's role would be to help Rand become more soft and that she would be the only one who could break through that icy wall he was putting up with everyone else. But book 12 just ended with Rand laughing and it looks like he's given up on being hard and cold. What do you think Moraines role will be when she comes back? :)

When everyone realizes that Mat is married to Tuon... That is going to be awesome. How do you think it is going to go down, do you think he will tell Elayne and co. when/if he meets them in Caemlyn? Is he just going to sort of jaunt off to Finnland before telling anyone who his new wife is and helping with negotiations? I think he may rather face the snakes than admit to his friends that he kidnapped and married their enemy. I started my re-read way to early...

our own world. From what I've heard from other people who have read the book (and I, myself, always thought this was the case), it seems pretty obvious that the series takes place on Earth in the distant future. From the talk of the second age in TSR, which describes technology very similar to our own, and other older legends from the first age - talking about Merk (which I took to be America) and Mosk fighting with spears of fire which I supposed were missiles and people going to the moon in the belly of an animal (a rocket) - I thought it was safe to assume that this was our world. I always read some people online that drew the same conclusions (Merk = America). S…

So anyway, something just came to me. We know that there will be some type of confrontation between Perrin and Isam/Luc. My guess is that they will, after a time of jumping around in TAR, face each other in some way and, while distracted, Isam will get offed by Hopper, who seems to be, well, not your average wolf. plus, it would fit, what with Isam prancing round destroying wolves in TAR. The wolves get revenge in the form of Hopper. Probably Perrin thats going to do it, but still, I would think it a real ppossibility that Hopper is in some way instrumental in Isam's demise, if not his slayer.

I was thinking , Egwene executed all those BA. What a waste, they could use the adam on the BA, and use them as weapons! an they could use the Kin for Suldam ...... but I think they would be not called Suldam & Damane, but something else.

Hello all... Im new here, first post EVER! Hi!! Anyhow, my idea is that Siuan Sanche only THOUGHT she made up the idea that the Red Ajah set up Logain as a false dragon; in truth, the Red Ajah did JUST that...and not only with Logain. Support for my theory comes from A Crown of Swords, page 515, where Seaine ponders to herself "She had never believed those irrational tales about the Reds and False Dragons...but...why would none of them deny it"? They cant deny it. First Oath wont let em. Of course, there are many arguments against this. Elaida thinks to herself that it is "vile slander" and Pevara seems not to know about it...at least weve never SEEN her point of …

I read somewhere that when the bore was drill the prison had been intact. Does that mean that the AoL was the first time his prison has been weakened? Or did the people of past turnings have the power to actually mend the prison itself... I mean, there had to have been darkfriends in the past turnings, so We know that the DO had been able to touch the world.

I keep wondering what this scene will be like. Maybe something this.. -Rand gathered the small Aes Sedai up in fierce hug, her feet dangling a full pace off the ground as he swung her around. " How?" he stammered, voice thick with emotion."- Maybe not though. His first emotion will probably be suspicion. Of course, if he thinks of Mat during the rescue then he may know it's really her but something tells me that the whole color-swirl thing will not work when Mat is in the TOG

In interesting thought occured to me today. We know that both male and female channelers tap into the same source of TP - the DO. Unlike the OP, where we have saidin and saidar. We also know that with the OP, because of saidin and saidar, male and female channelers use different weaves to achieve the same result. I am not sure this applies to all weaves, but certainly to most, otherwise characters wouldn't quote the fish and bird saying 10 times a book. Yet when Rand channels the TP, even tho it seems alien and unknown, he immediately channels to destroy his collar (we're not told what weave he uses, but lets assume something with fire) thn channels balefire to …

As stated in several books in the series, a (female only?) channeler can be forced to wield saidar faster than recommended. In Salidar, Suian is noted to have apologized to Egwene several times for forcing Egwene. However, I can't recall Suian forcing Egwene. I thought that Egwene's forced strength came from "studying" with the Seanchean. What am I missing here?

And you need to channel to use them... So channeling was discovered in the first age? And the Portal Stones were made after the discovery?

Simple question why don't the Forsaken have accents? In several hundred years the US has grown a diverse accents even in some places within towns. Your going to tell me that 3000 year old folks put into modern day times would sound the same or even speak the same especially after an event like the Breaking? Older versions of English are barely understandable to modern people. It just seems far fetched that they can just pop out the seals and blend perfectly.

I just finished reading The Gathering Storm, and it occurred to me that it now seems impossible for Rand to kneel to ELaida, which she foretold in I forget which book. The prophecies also seem to indicated that Rand has to kneel before the Crystal Throne (which some people think will be Mat). But does anyone think that somehow Elaid will be tied up with that kneeling to the Crystal Throne (how, I don't know), now that she's with the Seanchan. It seems to only way for her foretelling to come true now.

A quote taken from The Wheel of Time - The Forsaken Facebook Group Discussions posted by Kristi Deming. Very interesting.... I'll say it's widely believed that Demandred has Shara, could he have taken Seanchan after Semirhage's failer? If so Randland is going to be hit from all sides.....it's gonna be AWESOME!!! Luckers edit: This isn't myspace. No >>>>FANCY TITLES<<<<

The Mysteries of Cyndane Is Cyndane Lanfear? The short answer is, yes. There was some confusion over this based around Demandred’s comment that the Forsaken no longer thought Cyndane to be Lanfear based on Graendal’s assertion that Cyndane was weaker than Lanfear had been. However the similarities between Cyndane and Lanfear essentially prove that to be wrong, from the way she strives for height to the way she refers to Rand as Lews Therin and speaks so knowledgeably of the Age of Legends. The most telling piece of evidence, however, comes at the end of Winter’s Heart. The combination of these quote make it certain that Cyndane and Lanfe…

Ok, so Min let the cat out of the bag a few books ago, Winter's Heart I believe. How is she going to do it? Some have speculated that she's going to help Gawyn procure Mat's Foxhead Medallion and that she's going to be involved in a body swap, etc... I'm sure there are others that I'm missing. My thought is that Alivia will help Rand and Tuon realize something and then Tuon gives him a new name, hence Rand dies, a la "The Death of Tuon" in the Gathering Storm. No idea how it would go down, but obviously it would happen when they meet up for a truce, etc... Thoughts?

I have Eye of the World in my hand, and I'm ready to read it for the first time. You can only have a first time experience once, unfortunately. The way I see it, though, you can relive your first time vicariously through someone else. I humbly volunteer myself to be your conduit for this. As I read, I will post my thoughts and feelings. Feel free to cheer me on, recount your first-time thoughts of major events, or drop subtle hints. It's good to share! ... and I need the friends :'( A side note, regarding spoilers, I cannot feel offended should someone spill the beans on something that was released over two decades ago. If I wanted it spoiler free, I should hav…

I'm hoping that since the dragon creature is such an important symbol throughout the series that it will appear at some point in the last two books. I don't know how it will appear, but the people of Randland had to get the idea of a dragon from somewhere, right? Maybe it's been in the Finn's land this whole time, or in a different dimension via portal stones... who knows? I just have this inkling that it'll be vital to winning Tarmon Gaidon somehow. *crosses fingers*

Do you think he has past memories lives like Rand or does what he speak of the endless battle just part of his philosophy? He seems to speak more of knowledge on the situation than he does of it just being philosophy. I am sure as the DO's favorite he gets more insight. You'd think the DO would explain what has happened the billion and one times he has failed and get the game plan going. Of course, Ishamael is a true believer in the DO's plan and that may get him privileged access to info the others don't get. I would like to see a one on one with Ishamael and the DO.

While I have loved these books (as we all probably have on a site like this :)), one thing has truly mystified me about them. What the heck is the Shadow thinking? The prophecies state quite plainly (if I recall correctly) that if the Dragon does not show up at Tarmon Gai'don, all is lost. Now, turning Rand will win the battle for the DO, and he has certainly been trying! But why not kill him, or capture him and turn him by force (13 myrdraal, anyone)? Ishy plainly states that he wasn't really trying to kill Rand even as far back as TEOTW, before the link would have given him a reason to be careful of the Dragon's health. "I sent a single fist of trollocs when I co…

The Dark One's real plan is to die. I've always believed that the Dark One is tied to the wheel and time itself. I understand the bit about him being sealed outside of the pattern, and the True source moving the wheel and yadda yadda yadda.... Picture this, the Creator formed a big spinning wheel. He then took some Cotton (souls) and spun them into thread. He pushes a bunch of threads into the wheel which forms a nice tapestry. The Dark One's job is to pull that Tapestry along the line (Time itself) Therefore the Dark One is Time, and hates his crappy job. The Dark One can control souls that have died, because his part of the job happens after the tape…

This is just a stupid thought I had sitting around a couple of days ago - don't take it serious, it's all meant in fun. Demandred is in The Land of Madmen. The majority of guesses I keep reading/hearing are w/ the Borderlanders or in Shara, but I serious doubt the former but will grudgingly accept the later. In the tGS page 37 Graendal thinks that he likes having armies to command, but there are none left moving in the world. Save perhaps the borderlanders. But then she discounts it because her spies in that camp would have let her know something. I feel that's a pretty good assumption on her part. So far every single Chosen that has tried seizin…

The Rand/Moridin Link The Third Man This issue was first noticed when Lews Therin referenced a third person in Rand's head. This third man is Moridin. We learn this in KoD-18-News For the Dragon. As for how Moridin manifesting in Rand's head, Rand himself figured that out. And indeed, we see that link form. And it is on the next page that we first see the link active. This raises the question--exactly how does the link work. It seems to have two different roles, the first being passive, and the second active. The Function of the Link Passive Transferal The thread already lists other pas…

I have been thinking....The dark ones has been freed and faught in previous turnings of the wheel, according to RJ. So how does he get resealed? I am thinking that regardless of the outcome of the "last battle" of any certain turning, the Creator reseals the Dark One..... If the DO is destroyed, a new one is created. Maybe that is the purpose of the N'blais, to act as the DO's replacement. The One Power, I'm assuming will be burned out of everyone after the Last Battle, Since they couldn't channel before the age of legends. The world then goes through 4 ages without a dark one. The technogoly and other aspects of life getting more and more advanced as tim…

Was Lews Therin the first Dragon, or was he himself a reborn form of a pre-existing Dragon? Is Lews Therin the only Dragon that those in the Third Age have any memory of, and that is why he is so focused on? As the ages pass after the various TGs, do people simply forget what happened, and more Prophecies are made (or is there one set of prophecies, that suffices for each time the Third Age rolls around again? Or possibly there are different versions for each return of the Dragon and TG?) Why is there no technological advancement past the High Middles ages (roughly) sort of world we find ourselves in? If the Ages keep turning and turning, it seems to me that technolo…

I was just thinking about all these situations the main characters find themselves in where they see things that they either want to see (dream world) or the area draws from their possible futures or mind to create for them a new world (ring ter'angreals, Moghedien's TAR trap). So my thought here, Is it possible that when the Bore was drilled, it simply opened access to the True Power like they thought would happen, but the True Power acted like the taint and simply (for lack of a better way to put it) spilled over that portion of the pattern, slowly corrupting the people? They hear what they want and the Dark One is just an entity created by them. The first people t…
