I wonder what will happen to them when Tarmon Gaidon starts? Are they allowed to support an army in any way? Food, supplies, etc? Poor Leafers.

  2. It appears that almost everyone agrees that Ishamael is correct, and that there have been many previous turnings of the wheel and will be many subsequent cycles where the same battle rages. Personally, I am not convinced of this, but for the sake of argument let's assume that it's true. My question here is, what about the balefiring? If I recall correctly, so far Belal, Rahvin, Semirhage and (probably) Graendal (the "Lost Four") have all been balefired out of the pattern. Does this mean that they will not be around for all of the subsequent turnings? If it does, then who replaces them? Are there any important figures that can't be replaced? What if Ishamael or Lanf…

  3. Hey guys, after a long hiatus from WoT (since 2006) I picked up tGS and gave it a read. I decided that since Asmo's killer still hasn't been revealed, I should check out the online community to see if any new and interesting theories have cropped up (although I'm still nearly certain it was Taim). In any case, I read about the BUT which is apparently the new big mystery, and although I'm not interested enough to re-read the series to try and figure it out, I was pondering it. It occurred to me that we know that the BUT is going to be revealed in ToM. So this could be a potentially useful clue to figure out what the BUT is...we just take what we know is coming in To…

Forces of Light win, with Rand banding together the with woman Aes Sedai and the Asha'aman to destroy the Dark One. In the final moments of The Dark One's existence, he destroys the One Power. With the One Power gone, and with Mat figuring how how to invent guns and gunpowder, the world transitions into a more 18th century setting. Sorry if there is any spelling mistakes, but i'm just about to go to bed, so i'm sleepy. :)

The Future of the A'dam I do not believe the leashing of damane is sustainable, whatever Fortuona thinks. Already things are unravelling, and whilst I doubt we'll see a full resolution in the main sequence novels, I think it will have at least begun by the end of aMoL. In this essay I'll try and lay out what the current state of the a'dam is, what will lead to it's fall, and what we might expect to be established afterwards. The State of the A'dam Elayne's Plan: Revelations. In [KoD; 14, Wet Things] a sul'dam named Marli admits she can see the weaves, and immediately demands to be collared. Elayne decides to give her what she wishes. …

In a fight between Rand, Perrin, and Mat? Consider their weapons and skills: Rand: Rand is extremely competent with the sword. He has defeated many men, and almost defeated 5 men at once (LoC). RJ said that Rand would win in a fight between him and Galad, so he must be really good then, ah? Perrin: Perrin has an axe. And muscles. He can carve his way through Shaido dogs like they weren't even there, and he can chop off a limp with little effort. Mat: Mat defeated Gawyn and Galad at the same time, while also being extremely weak from his healing from the ruby dagger. And he also did it extremely fast. What would have happened if he was fully recovered? GL fo…

As we all know now, Moiraine lived after falling through the gateway and Lanfear did not. This implies a few things: 1) They were both given their '3 wishes' 2) Moiraine, knowing her future, bargained wisely and lived 3) Lanfear did not My guess is that Moiraine's price for her wishes was to be kept captive (and alive) while Lanfear most likely asked to "get me out here" so they set her outside and killed her. But the price that they both paid then implies that they were granted 3 wishes. So what did they wish for? What did they get? Looking at the two characters for a moment, we see that they are pretty close to complete opposites in certain ways: …

Hi everyone I'm new to Wheel of time series and approximately 75% through the fourth book. I just have a question about the process of weaving flows when an individual is using the one power for a task. For example when someone is healing it states that a weave of Air, Spirit and Fire is created, but does not indicate what the channeler does next. Well I guess it probably does somewhere but I can't be bothered looking through all the chapters LOL. So can anyone help me and explain the process of using the one power for different tasks? That would be great thankyou!! :)

  9. The characters I would love to be DF is Thom, he is just such an awesome character and would make me love him even more if he has fooled us all. Also Galad that guy is just TOO pure it would please me greatly to find out he is really a bad boy. I also think Amys being a DF would be cool but not unexpected. Maybe 1 of Rands girls being a DF could happy my vote would be Avi as Elayne wouldnt last very long with that big gob and Min is just too cool. Last but by no means least Faile being a DF would be awesome, I hate her soooooooooooo much that finding out she is even more of a backstabbing B***H and hopefully *failed* in her orders a halfman will feed …

  10. I got the idea for this Topic because there has been alot of chatter about this from folks here lately. I don't know how to do those fancy poles. I will just ask (giving a few of my own choices) - WHO WOULD YOU BE REALLY HEART-BROKEN TO LEARN NOW IS A DF??? 1 Amys 2 Rhuarc 3 Tam (just throwing this one in for the fun of the Shock Value AND because I don't believe we have ever had a Tam POV) 4 Selucoriea 5 Bashere 6 Post-TOG Moiraine. 7 Alivia 8 Alanna 9 Logain 10 Talmanes Fish

I have been re-reading the series and am currently in book4, and for however many times that I have re-read the series, I can't seem to figure out what was Alanna doing in the two rivers. Verin warned Perrin against her, and Loial was trying to watch her. He mentions that twice she disappeared, and one of the times Ihvon didn't know where she went (probably masking the bond). This makes me wonder where did she go and what was she doing?

  12. Started by Luckers,

So, I recently asked Brandon why Amys or Bair didn't try to contact Edarra in her dreams when they were looking for Tam. Brandon replied... Exciting. Maybe something happened to Edarra and the others--I've long suggested that Masuri and Annoura might be darkfriends, and there was always the question of 'how could Masuri get away to visit Masema's camp so often without Wise One approval. Maybe they are darkfriends as well, or get killed by Masuri or Annoura (or the Shiny Fake Dragon). What do you guys think?

  13. The Seanchan's colors are stripes of Red, Yellow, and Blue. Was this a deliberate attempt to match one of the most common colors of flags in the Anglo- and American- worlds? If the Seanchan had painted bright Red, WHITE, and Blue stripes across their chests, it would be a very obvious tie to the American colonies. What do you think? Am I reading too much into this? Did Jordan just like the Red, Yellow and Blue imagery?

How long does news take to reach the Two Rivers? I noticed that Tam, despite having left the Two Rivers to visit Tar Valon with Abel and then fighting in the south, only finds out that Rand is the Dragon during KoD... like really? He proclaimed himself at the end of tGH. That's like over 10 books. They can't be that bad, right?

Hello, I am a European WoT-Fan and would love to read the eBooks with the new cover as an ePup. However neither Amazon nor B&N offer this books to Non-US-Citizens, the Sony Reader shop can't even be reached from here, and I am totaly clueless... I am willing to spend real money for this, and I can't find a way to legally buy those... And no, I don't want to pirate them and I don't want them as real books. Do you know about a way for me to buy those books? Thank you

This is my first ever topic so please be gentle :) So Randland has its fair share of DF's. I remember reading from Liandrins pov and I think Alviarans that they went to Shayol Goul to pledge to the DO... does this mean that to become a DF you had to go there and pledge to him? It wasn't just a desicion you make and then suddenly you are a DF? Because if thats the case, if you suspected someone, couldnt you just see if they had been unexpectantly absent for a period of time? And if you are a DF aes sedai, are you automatically in the black ajah? Hope that makes sense... this came about because in the topic 'who would you most want to find out is a DF' and some…

  19. One thing happens repeatedly in the books: a forsaken is captured and then forced to teach the good guys secret knowledge. The argument against killing/stilling one of the forsaken is always that much knowledge can be gained by keeping them alive and powerful, but in the end they always escape and cause more trouble. So far, so good (or bad in terms of repeating and therefore expectable and boring plot elements). But here is the deal: It is known since LoC that gentling can be healed. One of the side-effects of healing (at least when done by the same sex) is that one is much weaker in power. Why has this never been used as an advantage? 1. You capture …

I don't mean to get too personal or offend anyone but I was curious. How old is the average WoT reader. My wife has made some comments about how I read this type of books and how I have reread the series several times. I have been reading the series almost since the day it was first published. I've always been a big Conan fan and when I saw RJ's name on something different I thought I'd give it a try. By the way, I'll turn 42 this fall. I sincerely hope I'm not the oldest person reading this so help me out and let me know how old you are.

People have asked me why I like Cadsuane, especially in light of my thread on the inherent and invasive stupidity of the Aes Sedai, which many regard Cadsuane to be the ultimate example of. So in this thread I am going to attempt to explain what it is about Cadsuane that I like, and why I regard her as one of the greatest characters in the series. Now, going in, I know the vast majority of you hold a different view, and all I ask is this--read me through, and be gentle when you tear me to pieces. :D The Subtleties of Cadsuane Ok, so most people look at Cadsuane as a bully, so that’s where I am going to start—her general behaviour. After that I will move o…

  23. For Me: 1 That one time (can't remember book or town) where Mat Cauthon (even though Egwene has been being really mean to him) decides that a Two Rivers Woman will NOT be treated poorly and he Kneels to Egwene and calls her ''Mother.'' 2 In the above situation...Egwene, for her ''Thank you, Mat.'' 3 Nynaeve for what she said about Mat to Tuon in TGS. 4 Loial for: Trollocs. Not thousands. Tens of thousands. He turned just in time to catch the long-handled axe that Elder Haman tossed him. The other man's ears were back all the way laid flat against his skull and Loial realized his own were too. And then he and Elder Haman were running down the corridor t…

  24. In the later books, we see that when Rand, Mat, and Perrin think of one of the others, swirls of colors go off in their head accompanied by a hint of an image of what that person is doing at that time. Mat thinks of Rand and sees the colors plus two people sitting facing each other. Rand and Nynaeve at the Cleansing. Perrin thinks of Mat and sees the colors plus Mat talking with a dark-skinned woman. Mat and Tuon. In every instance, they shake off the thought and the colors and move on with what they are doing. If instead, though, they concentrated on that image... what could they see? Could they find a way to turn that to their advantage? (PS: Haven…

  25. Started by Doselan,

I don't suppose I noticed it the first readthrough, but this time it stood out to me: 1) Janduin went north to the blight after Shaiel (rands mom) died on dragonmount. 2) He was killed not by a trolloc, but by a young man. 3) They said the young man looked like Shaiel, so Janduin didn't raise a spear when the man ran him through. This obviously isn't Rand, who is said to have Shaiel's features to his face; but could it be one of her other relatives?

open a massive gateway to space and let the entire Earth's atmosphere be sucked into the great black void? Also, what would happen to the person who opens a normal gateway to outer space if he/she was standing right in front? For that matter, why can't one open a gateway to the core of the earth or the bottom of an ocean. There is so much potential for awesome destruction using gateways, and no one in the books considers them :-[

  29. i used to think that Demandred was based in the borderlands based on all the evidence pointing towards northland culture and facial features. However, i'm re-reading Lord of Chaos and I noticed a small bit that really confused me. The following is a conversation between Sammael and Graendal. Sammael is talking. This brings up an interesting thought. Graendal is positioned in arad doman, and sammael in illian. From his conversation, he says to the south meaning demandred has business in Tarabon, Amadicia, or Ghealdan. Sammael says as long as they steer clear, suggesting that they are relatively close to illian. The biggest things going on in that region are th…
