"There was no wind." An exposition could continue on just as the wind narrative might, discussing how the tattered banners over a particular battefield did not so much as stir in a breeze, how the sails of Sea Folk vessels at anchor hung limp or how raken eyed the skies warily and refused to take wing... as if the entire world was holding its breath, waiting for something. Anyway, just thought it'd be a killer first sentence. It would definitely give me chills after the way all of the books til then had begun.

I think the Nae'Blis killed Asmodean. And here's why in a nuttshell.... Opportunity: Bashere was brought to the Royal Palace by a Gateway in the room where Asmodean was killed. Moridin was trying to get another 'serpent in the bossom' near Rand. Bashere just comes walking up to Rand with no guards/ aiel, while the whole city is loaded with them and the gates of the city are all held by Rands forces. He "incongruously" carries a jar of wine and two silver goblets?!. That all screams "Gateway", and pretty near to Rand too. In that same scene where Bashere meats Rand for the first time, he pledges to Rand near-instantly. He's the only noble to ever do so t…

Demystifying the Song The Song is one of the favourite topics for discussion amongst the fans, with theories ranging from how Perrin will find it, how the Aiel who went to the Tuatha’an will find it, how Rand will use it to sing close the bore, and half a hundred other things as well. But whilst people love to think about the finding and use of the Song, very rarely do people actually consider the Song itself. What is the Song? Elyas describes the Song thus... So a Song which will bring peace and return the world to the paradise it knew in the Age of Legends. Unfortunately for the Tuatha’an this Song does not, and never has existed. We see …

1 What is the Dark One's prison? Is it something that is physical or spiritual? 2 What part does the white sphere that exploded play? It was obviously representative of the bore into the DO's prison. 3 Are there more white spheres? 4 Are these spheres physical manifestations of the spiritual prison the DO is captured in? 5 Could there be 7? 6 The location of the bore, is that what we now know as Shayol Ghul?

Do you guys think we will see much of Loial at the great stump in towers of midnight? I'm really looking forward to reading about that but I'm not sure if it will be one of those off screen things or not.

So the idea of time being distorted has crept up before in the series. Specifically in the "mirror worlds" there are places where a day can turn into a real world year or the other way around, in TAR, etc. The town in the Gathering Storm that "resets" every day is another reference to this possibility. I'm wondering if there are other instances of this happening, and if so, is it possible that we will see an adult Gaidal Cain? It seems kinda wierd that RJ made sure we knew Gaidal Cain was born into the world, but ISN'T Olver and is not going to be around for Birgitte. Why would he even be born at this point in time? Is he going to be one of the first heroes of…

Is it possible that we will see egwene or bode get an armourer to make some really thin full body armour, or a shield, and then turn it into cuendillar? Its quick and easy to make, and impervious to anything, including balefire

Just had a thought to post something that I have always experienced through the series, but I havent seen it mentioned on the forums. Now I know Taim is most likely evil and such, and is definitly plotting in some way against Rand, but I always thought Rand treated Taim a bit rough. Now just put aside the fact that Taim is most likely a DF, Rand does not know that in his interactions with Taim. Consider what has happened to Taim, he has just come from escaping from AS and goes to Rand for his amnesty, now Taim wants to go into some alliance, which for Rand, it is fair enough that he wants to make sure Taim knows that Rand is the top dog. But really, h…

So, I have been hoping for a couple books now that we would come back to the Slayer vs Perin scenario. It appears it will happen in this book. Does anyone have any theories who Slayer is? One of the forsaken perhaps?

Personally, I don't see anyway for Seanchan to become stable in time for TG. Does that mean one of the Chosen is there, and will use the armies there against Rand. Unless Tuon goes back, Seanchan will remain in choas. Land of Madmen? Shara? It would really stink for RJ to expose us to those cool places, yet they have no role in the Last Battle. Why should Randland get all the fun?

Hi I'm reading the series for the first time and I'm up to book 4. In the Shadow Rising chapter 38 who is Jaichin Carridin referring to when at the meeting with the Taraboner nobles he talks about the other rebels in the countryside? Are they Dragonsworn also? Also sorry I should have put this in the other topic I posted my bad! The light illumine you all!

I think the Seanchan empire is about to fall to pieces. I base this on some very important details that I haven’t seen discussed online yet, although I will admit I haven’t followed every thread on every fansite by any means. It is quite possible that there will be a “well everyone knows that” response to this. However I have seen a lot of posts that I would consider outright impossible because of this fact. A lot of discussion that deals with “the north and east/south and west” being split between Rand and the Seanchan. Lots of things of that nature…Rand bowing to the Crystal Throne or not, Rand being taken back to Seandar in their control, etc etc. Basically any p…

Ok so I'm reading through the Shadow Rising, I'm just past the chapter when Egeanin is re-introduced into the plot and is meeting with Gelb. The only problem is that I had to take a break from reading due to exams at university. Anyway in the book are Tanchico's problems only caused by the influx of refugees from Toman Head (Falme) or are they in a civil war with anyone or at war with another nation? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm reading the series for the first time and it's really bugging me. I also love it btw. :D Anyway thanks for answering and peace out!!

Ok I'm reading the series for the first time, I'm about 3/4 of my way through the Shadow Rising, and I always thought there was something familiar about Birgitte, and then it occurred to me. She is a an expert archer, who has long blonde hair, she's a legendary "hero" of the horn.(Legolas is basically a hero, he's surely not average). I'm pretty sure RJ also described her as moving gracefully and elegantly etc. Legolas is rather similar, except for the gender. But he's a prince of Mirkwood whilst Birgitte is just a commoner. I love all the LOTR subliminal messages such as the "Nine Rings" inn in TGH. Oh and I also found out Galad is Sindarin (Elf language) for l…

Why Robert Jordan refered to Myrddraal in one paragraph and then refers to them as Fades in another? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something he's trying to convey in the story line...Thanks!

Well. Mesaana hasn't done a lot in this series seemingly. She has hung out at the White Tower the whole series and done nothing when she was sitting on top of the largest stash of Sa'angreal, angreal, and Ter'angreal. But here is an even and unbiased argument on weather or not she was a fail. or a successful player at the anti-Rand game. FAIL This is the most obvious choice. She has sat basically on top of the largest stash of Power related objects in the world, and stole none of them. yes, it would have been very difficult to keep her cover if she stole one, but she could have gotten the Fluted Rod Egwene used in the Seanchan in…

And if there HAS been alot of mention of it, and Ive missed it, my apologies. Anyways: TGS Chapter 48 Reading The Commentary The ladies are sitting around chatting...Nynaeve comes into the room. Min looks up: ***And...what was that vision that was suddenly hovering above Nynaeve's head? She was kneeling over someone's corpse in a posture of grief. The viewing was gone a moment later.*** Ok. Lets talk about this: I understand of course that the OBVIOUS conclusion is that this is Lan she is kneeling over in grief. However, I STRONGLY feel that that is TOO Obvious. Maybe even a pure Red Herring. So, my question to any of you guys that agree with me …

I always saw a very heavy resemblance between the two. Furthermore I don't think it's a coincidence, since RJ was an expert on WW2. Having an interest in that era. I base my claim on the following; 1) The uniform - pure black uniform. This uniform is then further supplemented with two silver pins on the neck collar. A high neck collar. This is similar if not the same as the Waffen SS attire of a pure black uniform with twin silver pins at the neck. 2) The name - Asha'man translates into "defender/guardian." Schutzstaffel = "guardians." Staffel has no direct English translation in this context, it means as much as "series." 3) The purpose - Both serv…

When Mat finally meets up with everyone else. Besides the obviously likely fact that he will have Moraine with him, it seems to me Mat has been the most secretive when meeting new people. In other words, he rarely gives his real name whenever meeting someone new and I think it would be interesting how people react when they remeet him. For instance, if you look at the third book, you will see that neither Tallanvor or Morgase hear is real name or think he is anything but a peasant (when he is delivering Elayne's letter). Now, Morgase might not remember him but Tallanvor probably will. Lastly, I can't wait to see Nynaeve's reaction when she finds out he is married.

In KOD, "Masuri taps her lips thoughtfully" while talking to Perrin about Masema - could she be Mesaana? It's the one clue I have managed to spot since Mesaana was last seen in the White Tower.

Ever since reading tGS Elaida's fortelling that the Dragon Reborn would know the Amyrlin's anger has bothered me to no end. First of all, I would like to say, this is not particularly Egwene bashing, I liked her plot and development throughout the latest novels in the series. The thing that bothers me is that Rand will be beaten down by Egwene as she unleashes her anger, as the foretelling seems to suggest, of course this does not mean she will manage to cow him, but it is a possibility that I dread for a number of reasons. If somehow Egwene manages to subdue Rand and use him for the White Tower's end (however good their intentions) I will be exteremly annoyed. …

I think this is interesting, and, as always, if this has been discussed before alot among the hundreds and thoudands of Topics and Pages and I missed it - Me sorry. Anyway, I think this is sorta interesting (to me at least) We know ALL ABOUT the link formed between a Warder and a Channeler (usually an Aes Sedai, now Ashaman) through The Bond. Moiraine and Lan, Verin and Toman...etc. BUT....What about between the WARDERS when there are MULTIPLE Warders bonded to a single Channeler. This is USUALLY reserved for Green Ajah ... Rand is not Green Aes Sedai but he falls into this category as well. So, lets use him as an example: So...Can Avi, Elayne and…

I was just thinking of the Eye of the World, we could say its purpose ended in Book 1, but where's the fun in that? The name itself is pretty striking. I just don't see what happened in Book 1 to really compare it to: "And if a hurricane isn't the Eye of the World, it's as close as we will come in this world." The Eye of the World is literally in the middle of Hell, and would be completely gone if Somestha didn't sacrifice himself and make the area grow with it's Pattern-ness. So here's my question, we have an Eye in the middle of Hell. In real Randland not sure what they could do there, but they know the area and could Travel there. Millions of …

I'm just curious. I thought the book was pretty good. It seems obvious to me that RJ was bringing the 3 other major groups into the ta'veren fold or taking care of them, and he couldn't to that in one book. Pretty much every major group except the Shaido, the Prophets group, and the Seanchan were under Rand's control or defeated. (AS are their own beast lol) So we see Mat finally meeting the DotNM, Perrin with the Prophet under his eye (mostly), and the brains of the Shaido all in one place. Oh, and also Andor getting taken care of (the only nation that Rand won't have to intimidate for help). First Mat: You really didn't expect him just to get married without …

OK, here it goes, now in no way i actually believe this, but i think it would be cool. Demandred will turn to the Light. Simple really Rand has to die. Demandred turned to the Shadow because of his extreme hate for LTT. Demandred said he would smile again when he broke LTT neck or something to that effect. SOoooo..... Demandred kills Rand, and finds out that his revenge is not all that great and has no reason to stay in the Shadow, thus realizing his stupidity and turns back to the Light, most likely dying.
