Just finished a re-read/skim of The Eye of the World, which I've always really enjoyed for some reason, but suddenly it hit me: What was the point of the Eye? What would have happened if the Shadow got it/ the Dark One "blinded the eye?" Is it only significant because it hid a seal and the Horn of Valere?

Do any of you honestly believe they can include all the scenes from the books and find good actors for the movie? I honestly think a movie wont work and as much as I would want to see one Id rather just have the mental images in my head than have WB view of the book.

Okay the other day I was trying to decide who I disliked the most and my mind went to Gawyn and Faile automatically. But my mind is lazy and it just thought that because I read about how much everyone else dislikes or even hates them. So I decided to try and list things I liked about them and I got stuff, which surprised me. Admittedly not much for Faile but some. Elayne however, couldn't think of anything about her. So Elayne is my character that i would go as far as saying I hate and dislike her chapters immensely. Okay lets list things we like about characters we kinda dislike. Or better yet by doing this lets see who really is everyones most disliked character. …

Owayn The Traveller and Psion both have had Topics here recently that really interested me. In Psion's, he voices curiosity about the real (if there is any) significance of The Eye of The World (not the book, the actual Eye). In Owayn TT's Topic, he pontificates on The Travelling Folk being located in a Dream by Egwene's use of ''Need.'' This got me thinking...especially about Psion's curiosity regarding The Eye and also about this whole ''Need'' Thing. What if the ''Point'' of The Eye in the end of Book 1 was to serve as INSTRUCTION or as an EXAMPLE to be remembered and followed later on in the series. This is where I am coming from: The fact that in those…

I cannot imagine that Nynaeve is what she appears. No one can drift through life as she does. Unless she has experienced it, it cannot be true. What a crock. I do not care for her in the least. I am at book four and hope that she dies in a fire.

All the recent talk of The Eye of the World has got me wondering, what did the toxic twins want with The Eye? I man they had the DO's protection from the taint so they already had access to all the Saiden they could handle. Having an pool of untainted Saiden really wouldn't give them any leverage over the other forsaken since they also had access to all the untainted OP they could handle. The only explanation is can come up with is that they were planning on doing something behind the DO's back. And if this is the case what were they planning to do?

I'm doing yet another re-read and during the Dragon Reborn, and I'm noticing strange behavior by Verin, but who hasn't right? Anyways, Verin is always blinking like she just woke up or has a surprised look on her face when she realizes where she is or what she just said aloud. With Lanfear at the Tower during some of these occasions, i.e. talking to the girls in the kitchen about their search for the BA, is it possible that Lanfear has used Compulsion on Verin Mathwin? It could explain many of Verin's actions along the way. I apologize if this idea has come up in the past and I missed it. I've read countless theories on this forum, but I just actually joined. Silly,…

I'm going through the books again (11th time) and while listening to book 4 again on audiobook, I noticed something I'd never heard/read before. This has probably been discussed to death on these boards, but I thought I'd toss it out there due to Sanderson's mention of the secret in books 4-6. I believe that Rand, Mat, and Moiraine were not the only one's to enter the Terangreal at that time. I believe there was one other person who entered when they all did. I don't have the book with me, so I can't quote, but I'll give the run down by memory. Matt enters the door, is escorted to the chamber to get his questions answered. While there, the gong/bell s…

Nicola's Foretelling in Lord of Choas mentions a great battle. This thread is to speculate what it will be. To me it would happen before Tarmon Gaidon; though I am not entirely certain at this point. I think more than 2 nations would be effected; though the other nations might not necessarily be allies or enemies with either of the main 2. That or the battle would cover a big area.

I am having issues with the Dragon Reborn audio CD. Of course, I have the unabridged version read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. But the tracks are all messed up. Disc 4 has Chapter 7, parts A and B and then goes into Ch. 8 & 9. Disc 5 has Ch. 7 Parts J thru O and then goes on to Ch. 11. Disc 15 starts with Ch., 37; track 2 lists it is Ch. 39. I wish these CDs were consistent in naming conventions, and correct in title. Does anyone have a correct track list?

One thing I've never understood is exactly what Ishamael was during the War of Power. His name means "Betrayer of Hope," and it's a very grand name, meaning he must have gotten it in grand fashion. Sammael might more literally deserve that name, as he betrayed a gate during the War, bringing the Shadow into Rorn M'doi and Satelle, but he's called "Destroyer of Hope," instead. We don't really know much about what Elan was before the War, aside from being an acclaimed philosopher (I personally think he was much more than that), and I'm not sure it's even mentioned exactly when and how he was turned to the Shadow. Does anyone know more about that took place? I can't…

First off Mods feel free to move this if its in the wrong place. Heres a list of all the unfullfilled Prophicies and dreams that i have found. Where do u think they will fit in in the last two books? There had been a dream of him walking down into a great hole in a black mountain, a hole filled with a reddish glare as from vast fires below Mat, placing his own left eye on a balance scale Rand confronting her, and the women with her, and one of them was a Seanchan Mat throwing dice with blood streaming down his face, the wide brim of his hat pulled down low so she could not see his wound while Thom Merrilin put his hand into a fire to draw out the small b…

The two groups of Tinkers have been camped for a couple of days together in the Circle of Union. The young women have been coached concerning their dance to attract a man. The Central Fire has been added to...it now gives off a glorious light. Tonight's party will be the highlight of the Meeting. Lots of good food, music, dancing...BYOB. Of course, I'll post. So should you. Release your "inner Tinker". Think up a scene that you imagine will take place at the celebration tonight. For those of you with a darker side, maybe you could rob all of the Tinkers while they're busy dancing or maybe kill all of their mules? Use your …

Back in the 90's after the first book came out, I used to reread the series yearly, as each new book came out. My last re-read was in 2001, right after Winters Heart came out. At that point, I stopped reading the series, NOT because I was in any way disappointed (this is my favorite series) but because I wanted to try and wait for the series to finish up, then read them all in one fell swoop. This means that I had not read Knife of Dream or Crossroads of Twilight, which was tough to have on my book shelf in hard cover unread :) Obviously, Robert Jordan died and the final book got split up into 3, with an "end date" of 2011 or so, and in September of 09, I f…

Assuming that Rand, (in spite of the prophesy), somehow manages to survive the last battle, it seems obvious that at least one if not two need to be removed from the scene. Elayne would be my first guess. Her character has steadily gone downhill since major fiasco attempting to capture the black sisters in Camelyn. I'm not sure about Min. I suspect she may have another role to fill in the story besides being married to Rand. It still has not been explained why she has this gift. SPECULATION: Who... or What decides the actual pattern the "The Lace of Time" takes on. And if it is some specific higher power, does he, she, or it ever die and need to be replaced. Min…

I would like to here peoples views on the breaking Seals, it is my thought that every time Rand fulfills a prophecy of the Dragon a seal breaks....I think there is only one prophecy left and one seal... it is my thought that the dark one has been herding Rand into fulfilling prophecy ultimately freeing the Darkone....any thoughts on this....dissagreements....all welcome

I've been doing a bit of research into the book covers for the Wheel of Time, and it has become evidently clear that very few like the US covers created by Darrel K. Sweet, mainly because of how inconsistent and off they are. None of them represent an accurate scene from any of the books or portray the characters how they should be and its downright sad. I really don't blame you all and hate most of them too, especially the Gathering Storm cover. Seriously why would that crap get approved... Since the announcement of the new eBook covers, which I find to be most incredible, I've had on my mind to create new covers for my own books. I just never got around to it b…

My first post here. I've been reading the books for decades. Exitement over the pending completion of the series and the realease of TGS drew me here. Yo! If this topic does not belong here, my apologies. It has been suggested elsewhere that Ishamael had twisted the Seanchan prophecies, specifically regarding the Dragon kneeling before the Crystal Throne. My theory: This prophecy was not twisted. It will come to pass. The Crystal Throne is, in fact, a ter'angreal that "inspires awe in all who approach". What's the most likely reaction to feeling awe at the presence of something like a throne? To kneel. Rand does not metaphorically bend knee to the s…

Okay jut been reading Knife of Dreams and something came up that I obviously paid no heed to before otherwise I wouldnt be going on ABOUT IT NOW. Anyhow in the chapter ,'A Deal', Perrin gives up any attempt at reviving said nation. When he does this the following happens 'suddemly, the breeze was a gale howling in the opposite direction pelting them with grit, blowing so hard he had to cling to his saddle to kept from being knocked off.' and also 'The tempest stank of sulphur'. So does this signal something important. Like Perrin not reviving Manetheren makes the Dark One immensely happy. Do you think Manetheren will come back into again before the end?

Since I'm going mad in creating threads today I decided it was time to abuse my power and create one for myself--though actually people have asked, probably because of that 'A Memory of Light--the Plot' prediction thread I wrote. I avoided writing a review when the book came out because I like to give myself time to adjust, then do a re-read, before I make up my mind. I'm glad I did, because things did change between the first and second read. But here we go. I hope people enjoy this, if not ignore it with glee! General Comments I really loved this book. Rand's madness and the White Tower division/Seanchan attack were probably the two plot-lines I've…

First i want to say Hi to all! I've been reading the forums for some time, but this is my first post. Second, i want to apologise if there is another thread about what i'm asking. Now the question : In book 4, Rand cut some strange things, like black steel wires around Asmodean. But after that, i think they are never mentioned. Why dont he use this to break the other male forsaken from the DO? And why he doesnt even see them anymore? If he does, he would have known there is a forsaken among the Asha'man.

Ok. I had a thought suddenly. I may be way off, but... "The blood of the Dragon Reborn on the rocks of Shayol Ghul will free mankind from the Shadow. " We know this bit gets repeated over and over, from which Rand deduces that he will have to die at TG to free the world. His death is inevitable. But, wait! What if we are reading it incorrectly. It is not the "Dragon Reborn", but it should be the "Dragon being reborn". See? "The blood of the Dragon, reborn on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, will free mankind from the Shadow." Rand will have to be "reborn" somehow at TG. Maybe he gets stilled/severed. Maybe he gets Healed. Maybe not. I don't…

So did Perrin do anything in this book? Regardless, Faile was kind of badass. Once in awhile she proves why we have to keep her around.

Hi all, I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but the search function didn't bring up anything. Take that following section of the Karaethon Cycle ( http://wot.wikia.com/wiki/Karaethon_Cycle ) "Into the heart he thrusts his sword, into the heart, to hold their hearts. who draws it out shall follow after, What hand can grasp that fearful blade?" Now this is taken as fulfilled and done for prophecy - at the stone of tear. But what if this IS Tarmon Gai’don? Rand thrusting the sword into either his or the dark one's heart (in the process also binding the forsaken - holding their hearts), and the one that draws it out becomes the next dark one or dr…
