Has Rand realized that Galad is his half-brother? If he has, will he ever bring it up? "BTW Galad, we're brothers..." If he does, how will Galad react?

I mean, it's so blindingly obvious. "The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. The wind was not the ending. In one Age, called the Fourth Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind swirled and died above the great mountain known as Dragonmount. The wind was not the ending There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was an ending."

I have read through book 12, not yet TGS. I am in the middle of a re-read, up to TSR at this point. Hoping to hit TGS by Christmas. I had some basic questions regarding the History of the ages... #1) How many ages have passed since the Age of Legends? #2) How many dragons have existed in history? #3) Will the next Age have another Dragon? Will the Dragon Reborn then be referred to as Lews Therin or as Rand al'Thor?

this is a relativley new idea, and i'm not sure i believe it myself yet so bare with me. we know that this age is called the third age by some -BTW, i've been wondering who doesn't call it the third age? but i digress. - so far we've assumed that AOL is age 2, but have that ever actually been stated clearly? in the books or by RJ? i just noticed that the Calendar in Randland have been counted in 3 different ways since the Breaking and i thought that maybe the end of AOL was actually age 7 and the Wheel turns in unison with the changes of calemdars. if i'm right it would make After The Breaking (AB) the first age, then Free Year (FY) the second age and …

I think it is; at least in the obvious way. The Dark One seems to be an immortal being. The turnings of the Wheel are also infinite. This battle is replayed with each turning. From the perspective of an immortal being, the Dark One should have no concerns whatsoever about whether or not he wins this time. If his victory is possible, then eventually over time he will be successful. Rand's battle this time around would be relatively irrelevant. Personally, I think the outcome of the Dark One winning is impossible. I think that the Pattern will not allow it. The pattern produces a Dragon, demands a Dragon. It also produces Ta'veren to also fight the war on the Sha…

  8. To post little "snippets" about TGS? How hard is it to not mention or allude to anything at all in the book??? This post applies to a small percentage of people on these boards and not the majority, but its a little obnoxious with all of the posts telling people to NOT post, yet its still being done. I've been on DM for years and this is the first time that I'm disappointed in the lack of respect from some posters. Out of respect for the rest of us, can you please refrain from even insinuating potential plot lines, story lines or things that could happen- regardless of how generic you may feel that they are? Thank you

  9. just wondering, since pretty much every other major character has. i remember in LOC when she was in cairhien with gawyn them meeting at an inn. does this mean they have consummated their relationship?

  10. I will start by saying that I have early printings of these books. I've looked on every site I could to see if this was addressed and fixed, but did not see it. If anyone here has seen it addressed and/or corrected, please let me know. :) It seems like Birgitte has shrunk in PoD, or RJ could not make up his mind on the girls' heights. In tFoH, there are numerous references to Birgitte being taller than Elayne or Nynaeve. (i.e. ch. 36, pg. 579 pb. "The woman [birgitte] could not put her nose outside the wagon until she had something to wear, and she was taller than Elayne or Nynaeve") But in PoD, we get this: (ch.1, pg 42 pb) "The raised heels of Birgitte's …

My brother is reading the series for the first time (its about time!) and he brought to my attention what he thought was an error in The Shadow Rising. I havent read it in awhile, but i dont think he left anythign out, which leads me to believe he may have found an error. Here's what he came up with- i'd be interested in hearing any explanations since i cuoldn't come up with a viable one other than "maybe you missed something": Chapter 6: At the end of the chapter, Rand is informed that the Shaido have begun moving towards Jangai Pass, and Rand announces that they will follow. Chapter 20: Rand and the Aiel enter Jangai pass, and have been traveling from Rhuidea…

In the EoTW, close to the start, Rand was confessing his doubts to Nyn that he was from outside the two rivers. Nyn is supposed to be only 4 years older than Rand, yet she remembers when Tam and Kari came back to the Two Rivers from war with a baby Rand This would, if all logic exist, put her at 4 years old. Do we believe it's possible for her to remember this? or is this just a complicated mess up from the writer.

Anyone else see the possibility of Tuon collared. She trains Damane so it's clear she could be taught to channel. Sems to me that would be the easiest way to back the Seanchan off. It's ben said that the power of the Crystal throne comes from collared channelers. Collar their snot nosed little empress and that will pretty much destroy their entire system of government.

I am re-reading the series in preparation for the release of TGS. Now I have always wondered about how Rand will fair after the Last Battle. We already know that in the Land of Robert Jordan, people die and come back. But how it will work always makes me wonder. I just finished Winter's Heart, and I noticed something I didn't catch before. I kinda searched for this, but didn't see Alivia mentioned at all, and was curious to see what you all make of it. In Winter's Heart, there is this conversation between Rand and Min about the turbo powerful Seanchan ex-damane chic. Min: “Rand, I like Alivia, But she is going to kill you.” Rand replies, “You said she was g…

  20. I dunno.. it just seems a bit unrealistic. Just finishing the chapter on Shadar Logath.. First of all.. here we have 3 boys hunted by foul, evil, animalistic killers.. still distrusting the only people who seem to be saving them from those killers at every turn.. and then walking into a place like Shadar Logath, and trusting to walk the span of the city in search of treasure, separating from the rest of the group.. when just 1 hour before they were fighting for their bloody lives.. I dunno... Plus, it strikes me as crazy that neither Lan nor Moraine elected to say anything like, "stay close to us.. this city is very dangerous.." or anything.. Sorry just annoye…

  22. So, I saw a similiar post here about collaring Tuon. I was wondering who thinks the Seanchan wouldn't allow Tuon to stay collared. I personally think, after seeing how they react to women who can channel, they would keep her in the collar and pretty much write her off as never existing as one of the Blood.

  23. ...in the interest of passing the next two weeks, why not post anything. Does anyone else get the feeling that Nynaeve might become enlightened, or somehow gain supernatural powers OTHER than channeling? What would she be like as some sort of Demi-Godess? If she let her rage go, her irritation go, you know? She seems to hang around alot, and i think her 'role' in the series would take a dramatic, but perhaps forshadowed epic twist.

This is my first post on here, and I'm going to try not to put any spoilers in case anyone hasn't read throughout the entire series. I'm still waiting for my copy of The Gathering Storm, but have read through the entire series, started back in 2003. I've reread some books, as well as reread some sections of books that I've enjoyed. Anyway, did anyone catch the part, early on in the series(Not sure which book off hand, though I think it might be The Dragon Reborn or Shadow Rising, possibly Lord of Chaos), where Nynaeve said that reconnecting a person to the source after being gentled would be like reattaching a person's hand after losing it? Now, not to spoil for a…

What are some odd things you'd like to see answers to by the end of the series? I'll start: -I'd like to see more of the differences between Saidin and Saidar and how they're weaved -The True Power...how is it used in instances where men and women differ? For example, the difference shown in TSR when Rand extinguishes a flame -How does the Caramoor play into everything? -What happens if one woman wears both ends of an a'dam? -How do men sense another Saidin user drawing the power? We have a very clear understanding of Saidar, but little of Saidin, which is synonymous with the plot, but leaves much to be desired -What happens if a male channeler and a…

not Lews Therin. I remember Rand saying this over and over to the Forsaken in the early books. Interestingly, that is when we begin to see the manifestations of LTT. Perhaps LTT exists because of this internal struggle within Rand? To differentiate himself with his own past? And perhaps reintegration will occur only if Rand can accept that he and LTT are one. Perhaps in Tarmon Gaidon, Rand will introduce himself to Shaitan as "Rand Al'Thor, the one you once knew as Lews Therin Telamon" Rand would never say something like this right now.

  27. When the gang finally finds the Green Man, they are confronted by Aginor and Balthamel. Aginor refers to Mat as an old thing, an old friend, an old enemy. What could he have meant by that? Could Mat and Perrin be reborn to? When Rand defeats Ba'alzamon, is it an image of the dark one touching the world or is it Aginor desguised as the dark one. Did that flight of stairs Rand climb take him to Shayol Ghul? Was that image of his mom really his mom or a trick to try and get rand to turn? After he saves her, she thanks him. I think if it was just a trick, she would have just vanished.
