Maybe this doesn't deserve its own thread, but there is a lot of foreshadowing in the WoT. (As if you didn't know, Ha!) This thread is about finding the foreshadowing and ...well posting it in here :P. Now nothing obvious, like Min's viewings, but little things. Ex: Breane, Lamgwin's girlfriend/wife, is in The Great Hunt. Thom says "I recognize those three, boy. Breane Taborwin alone would give you an education such as every man should have at least once in his life, if he can live through it." This the part where Rand is in the party at Barthanes looking for the Horn, and those three women start hitting on him so he goes and talks to Thom.

  2. Optimus Prime asked about this theory in the tGS forum, so I figured I'd put it out there. The best way I can see to go about this is to do it sequentially. From order, to enactment, to aftermath. The Order The first issue here is that the order was not obeyed because the man who ordered it looked like Sammael, it was obeyed because the one who gave the order had the Chosen Mark. For clarity, the Chosen Mark is an sort of imprint the Dark One puts on the souls of his high chosen. RJ describes it thus. Moridin's point is clear--despite the fact that he looked like Sammael, the fact that he was obeyed means he was one of the Chosen …

I was reading Winter's Heart again and noticed that when Min Viewed Birgitte Min saw her with a man much younger than her. I seem to recall that when Birgitte was still in the world of dreams she mentioned she was always younger than Gaidal. I was therefore thinking that, despite Birgitte's worries to the contray, she would meet up with Gaidal again. I figured that I would mention this here and see what you think of it. My apologies if this has been mentioned before or if I am way off base here.

During my re-read for the new book a strange Idea hit me. "Could a Aes Sedai make Cuendillar armour without violating the 3 oaths?" I would think so, since armour is not a weapon in and of itself. However, it could make a person survive to get to killing range... Ferthermore, from the way the chain in Tar Valon's harbour reacted, I don't think complex articulation would work, but a breastplate or lorica Segmentata made of Cuendillar could make most mundane weapons less effective, and make armour useful for Power Duels. What do you people think it could work? Or would it create a huge Power Creep in the armies of the first one the find it that it would t…

Okay, the latest I've heard is that there is no legally available ebooks that have been released of the Wheel of Time. Does anyone know if there exist any plans to release those? I bought a Kindle and I really don't like to pirate materials, especially stuff by Authors and Artists I genuninely respect. Does anyone know anything? Any bits of news are welcome...

I've started a re-read from book 9 (Winter's Heart) onward and once again I find myself wondering the same question I had the previous time that I read this book. Why is Masema allowed to run loose and do what he does for so long? I mean, if Rand took 5 minutes to travel to his sorry ass and set him straight, or even 'took care of him' that would solve this ever growing 'army' of rifraf. Instead he is left alone, treated with every care, even by those that 'do' have Rand's support, and in doing so he is given an authority Rand himself never gave him. On top of that, Masema is endangering Rand's efforts of uniting the nations and instead creates more and more anger a…

I know it was already discussed for many times, but I have some curious (I think :D) ideas about the Eye. I would like to hear what do you think about it. The question that had been bugging me for quite a while: Why the "Eye of the World" was named so? What meaning does it have? Other OP stuff have untranslated names (Callandor, Choedan Cal). So why was the name of the Eye told us in English? Then suddenly I had the following idea: Apple of one's eye – idiom, meaning "Special, favorite, beloved person or thing, as in The youngest was the apple of his father's eye. This term, which rests on the ancients' idea that the eye's pupil is apple-shaped and that eyes …

Was re-reading COS recently and theres a POV of SH towards the end of the book, can't remember what it is exactly he's doin or who he's with but he starts to feel drawn back to shayol ghul as he has been away for a while. Now I always thought that he was kinda like the DO personified in a way but the thought that he has when he feels drawn back to shayol ghul is that he is unhappy about that fact and thinks that he needs to do something to change it. This got me to thinkin' it seems as though SH is not completely happy at the fact that he is essentially the DO's bitch, he wants to escape the hold that the DO and shayol ghul have on him and make his own evil way in the wo…

With Lan now in the borderlands and making his way from Worlds End heading towards Fal Moran and Nynaeve spreading the word so to speak. What are your thoughts on the following questions? 1) Do you think that Lan will collect a sizable force? And what will its make-up be? 2) Is this in your opinion going to be the foundation stone for the rebirth of Malkier, Reasons behind your thoughts also? 3) Will his journey be completed in the next book or will it be resolved over the course of the remaining books? These are just idle thoughts I have my own and just interested to see if they differ greatly or not :)

What happens to a warder if the aes sedai is stilled? Does the bond still work? Do you have to use the one power to use the stop sweating trick? What happens if your in the world of dreams and they teleport (i think they imagine themselves there or summit) to the world of Elfinn/Alfinn? Are there female Fades? Can the Gholam mate? What would win in a fight the Mashadar (from Shadar Logoth) or the Machin Shin (the black wind)? ;D hahah lol :D

Who taught Rand how to keep the warm/cold weather from affecting him? Was it Asmo or Taim? If it was Taim, I wonder why he shaved his beard when he reached Andor. I remember reading he shaved it because he was hot. That always seemed strange to me.

Anyone who's read the entire series knows that Moraine will definitely be returning before Tarmon Gaidon. Given that she'll be coming back, what about Lanfear? If Moraine didn't die in the Ter Angreal its just as likely that Lanfear lived. What role do you think she'll play if she does return? How will she react to all that Rand has accomplished? Will she try to bed him again or see him as an implacable enemy? I liked her as a character, and I liked the complications it made for Rand since he refuses to harm women. It would serve to bring things full circle. Since Lews Therin will die at Tarmon Gaidon it would be interesting to see a final reunion between …

Hello! First time poster, long time reader. So, I´ve been thinking about this for quite some time... Would it be possible to create a permanent Gateway between say Cairhien and Caemlyn? Just tie the weave of and these two cities would essentially be one. Why didn´t they do this in AOL instead of building bridges like the ones at Whitebridge or Tar Valon? Am I missing something? It just seems like a much more simple solution. Any ideas?

Galad's stiff upper lip and insistence on doing everyting above board regardless of the consequences to himself or others has been an irritation to say the least for me....but at least it was his consitant character trait. During the swordfight with Valda I think Galad does something out of character. He pretends to be out of breath. He pretends to be more hurt than he actually is. Is this not a lie? A deception? I think so and this is totally out of character for Galad.

I was just wondering about this recently, I know that it has been essentially confirmed that the Aes Sedai attain the ageless look due to the oaths that they take using the oath rods and that channeling itself is not the cause. Leane and Siuan lost the ageless look immediately when they were severed, but we also find out that the oaths themselves have been removed as well. So, I gathered that when the oaths are removed the ageless look itself is gone but then with sisters of the Black Ajah, why is this not the case? I mean, they forswear their oaths to the light in favour of dark ones but shouldn't that interval when they are not held by any oaths count for something? Sho…

  17. A question came to mind as I was reading the Matt's Luck & Channeling thread. Were the Aelfin & Eelfin intentionally trying to help Matt considering the answers they provided and the information infusted in to his head. Remember, Matt indicated that he wanted the holes in his memor filled. I find it interesting that of all the memories from those who have stepped through the doorways and those who have entered the ToG, Matt's primary memories relate to battle and warfare. Very useful in the current context.

Does anyone else wish that RJ elaborated more on the other forsaken, The ones that weren't trapped in the bore? And isn't it curious that Lews Therin never rants about the nameless foresaken, Rand has no memory of them, and they aren't used to scare children into obedience? I feel a little sorry for the forgotten forsaken. They try so hard to be evil then they're just forgotten.

  22. --I have copied this thread from a poster name throwingmuse at wotmania. Since wotmania is only going to around for another week I wanted to share this thread before it may be forever lost. It adds another possible dimension to the Asmodean killer debate. "There have been many well-stated, thorough, and logical posts regarding the identification of Asmodeon's killer. Many people have spent a large amount of time combing the text looking for clues to the crime. RJ claimed that the solution to the mystery was "intuitively obvious," a phrase whose meaning is often argued among would-be crime solvers. RJ purposely did not expose the killer in subsequent books because h…

So over time I think we've pretty well established that we are capable of disagreeing on practically every point possible ;) That's not a bad thing though - it encourages discussion and debate. It opens us up to new ideas and I know that I certainly learn something new almost every time I read a post and I can't be the only one. I got to thinking though, I'm pretty certain that who we are and the lives we lead have very very much to do with how we perceive certain things in the books - what we like, what we find annoying, unbelievable, just plain infuriating. Same goes for the forums. So I thought maybe it would be interesting to see what everyone does, w…

I just had a thought. You all know that Moiraine, prior to getting herself trapped/killed/? fighting Lanfear, tried to teach Rand all she knew of importance? Good. She was frantic about it! "There are so may things you must know... and so little time!" Anyhow, here's my crazy idea: Moiraine had gotten some really disturbing answers from the visit in the "Doorframe world" and one was (might have been in crazy theory world) that she was going to be turned to the Dark One's side inside that doorframe world. This is why she had to teach Rand all she knew - for him to survive her attacks later when she had been rescued. Oh, but how can Mat and the others save her if she h…

  26. I have been thinking of a few ways in which to use the One Power in a full scale battle I thought it would be an interresting topic. First of Gateways, open up a horizontal gateway in a safe location with the other end being above the enemy army, you look down apon the army and know exactly where and how the enemy is deployed. almost no chance of being flanked. and you know exactly how to deploy your forces. Place Canon(Dragon) anywhere in the world with a large qty of ammo and open a gateway in front of it with the other end being in front of the oposing army. fire. close gateway reload and repeat. never having to adjust your aim to account for the cha…

I didn't want to put the name of the character in the title as i can't completely remember it, which is embarassing. The mydraal shadar huan or something? No where near methinks, i'm really curious about him. Is he just a new character (possibly the DO?) or one of the ressurected chosen? Im pretty sure he isn't a forsaken as i've wikipedia'd the list of forsaken in the past as my memory is terrible. I got confused over whether he was also mordith because who was the one who was following sammael and grendael (sorry about the spelling) to the shaido wiseones? Didnt he turn from mydraal to human? Please put me out my misery lol x

  28. After the current series is done, i would love some prequels especially based on age of legends. It would be awesome seeing lews therin, ishy, lanfear and the whole war of power. wouldn't you agree? how these famed aes sedai turned over to the dark side, lews therin POV.....gosh i feel giddy just fantasising about it.

  29. There are several different ways to read into this argument. Do you think Taim will stock his warders in Tar Valon with his darkfriend cronies or with those Asha'man that are not loyal to him? If he stocks them with his cronies then he might be able to create more chaos in amongst the White Tower civil war. He could have orders for his cronies to sabotage as many things as they can in Tar Valon. However, the counter-argument is that his cronies can create chaos in Tar Valon even without being bonded to the reds. If Taim only allows his non-darkfriend supporters to bond with the reds, then he has cleared out some of his potential rivals in the black tower. …

  30. I just read this and realized that there is something that I don't understand. How did the Aiel get the sapling from the Chora tree? Avendesora was in Rhuidean, surrounded by the cloud that a man (prospective clan chief) could only enter once, and a woman (prospective Wise One) only twice. Or was the sapling taken before Rhuidean closed up?
