Throughout the WoT, we have seen AS make the truth and also promises dance on its head and control just about any situation that they're thrust into. That being said, there is one thing that drives me a little nuts and its the way they allow themselves to be treated by the Seafolk based on their bargain of having to teach them. The Seafolk walk all over the AS, and the AS allow it. I cannot believe that the AS haven't found a way to control the teaching better than they have....instead, they're almost completely controlled in the form of instruction, the method of instruction, the delivery, the content, the pace at which they teach, etc. This is the perfect opportun…

We know that 'Tarmon Gaidon' means 'Last Battle', but just 'Last Battle' seems a partial meaning. This thread is to decide the whole meaning. With 'Other' on the poll, please specify. Whatever your decision, please back it up.

I hate Galina. Everytime she did something horrible I just kept hoping that she would end up with a horrible fate. However, RJ's justice is bone-chilling. What do people think about Galina's fate in the hands of Thereva for the rest of her life? It seems very just and I am really happy with it-but I do occasionally feel almost sorry for her. Another question. Why didn't Galina free herself from the oaths as soon as possible? She delayed. Even in the woods, she was removing the collar etc. If she had removed the oaths first, then couldn't she have escaped. Someone mentioned once that you cannot channel at the oath rod and at the same time use the oath rod yourself. Is…

What I'm looking for is a good, reliable timeline with table form, if possible, including events in KoD as well. It would be great if cross-references were present as well, and explanations/proofs that some event really happened at a given time, etc. Where it isn't a sure thing, some guesses made and the bases of those guesses explained. I'm yet to find one, actually. I've found some that aren't up-to-date. I also found one, that seems to include the whole series (WOT wikia) but I got no idea how reliable that is. Can someone help me out? If not, could someone sketch an outline of what happened and when in 1000NE at least? Or say start from the fixing of we…

The question is very simple: how do Rand and Mat's horses get from Shadar Logoth to Caemlyn in tEotW? I think they go with Bayle Domon to Whitebridge, but then they suddenly disappear when Rand & Mat have to walk all the way to Caemlyn.

  6. Started by Matcauthon999,

Firstly does anyone know what is wrong with Mr Rand's eyes? Cos I can't even begin to know i thought it might be the saa from Moridin/Ishamael but I was pointed to a quote that disproves that theory and secondly was anyone at all happy about Rand losing his hand, cos RJ really isn't a fan of him is he, two pools of pure evil in your side which is great for boasting and all that but must hurt like a ***** and now he's insane and losing his hand. Unlucky Rand

A while ago I had a dream, a special dream. It was about me, but I had the ability to use the power. I was in some sort of depression and all around me there were trollocks emerging from the hills and running straight for me. I blasted them this way and that with fireballs, shot lightning, and blew up earth under them. I vaguely remember some soldiers fighting beside me, but didn't pay much attention. Also while attacking them shadowspawn I felt good, very good... must be the power... After the last trollock was blown to pieces I remember making a chair or some sort of seat out of air air, sat down, and... that's all I remember. Now that was a pretty cool dream,…

  9. We know that she had enough votes to depose Siuan (and most likely Leane since the two need to be deposed seperately I believe) just barely. It's also most likely the Blue Sitters took no part in this, since the Ajah the Amyrlin was raised from is not informed of the vote until afterwards. Now, Elaida probably wanted to get everything done with all in one shot so she probably had the second vote on whether or not to raise her as the Amyrlin. My question is how. It's stated, and well known that all 21 Sitters must reach the Greater Consensus. Elaida is one of those 21 and it's unknown (yet doubtful) if a Sitter can nominate themselves. But if this vote happened immed…

At KoD (IIRC) some thousand trollocs attacked the state where Rand had been hiding with Cadsuane, Logain, Bashere, Nynaeve, Loial, several AS and AM and a few Bashere's man. That was the attack were Rand uses the death gates and those cool fire-explosion etc... also I believe that the state was somewhere in Tear. The question is.... Who sent those trollocs? I seen to recall Moridin saying something about some "loose trollocs" that were taken from the blight without his order... so... who did it?

Is there a chapter icon that represents Egwene? I planning on getting a WoT tattoo... and I like the bull with the garland... but doesn't that represent Gareth Bryne? I like him, but I would like to get something that represents Egwene. Anyone have any ideas?

  12. OK, So im guessing that its going to be Rand against Morridin at the end, an allusion to the christian christ v antichrist showdown at apocolypse. But I feel that Rand doesn't yet have a good incentive to fight Morridin besides that hes bad. As far as Rand knows, morridin hasn't down anything to him. And hes never seen him besides in Shadar logoth (and then he didn't know what was going on), and in his head. I think in order for Rand to have enough righteous rage to be epic at the end, he needs to be provoked. So the new question is, how will Morridin provoke him. I think he might kidnap Min, Elayne, and Ave. And make Rands nightmare come true. I also thin…

When we see Slayer in Far Madding taking orders from one of the Forsaken (Moridin, I think?), he muses that the Forsaken are some of the few who know how to contact him, and that they are the only ones capable of giving him orders, while everyone else in that select group must beg for his services. This makes me wonder, who else would be given the knowledge of how to get in touch with him? And what would they need his services for? It seems to me that Slayer, being the DO's assassin, provides a service that only the Forsaken would be in need of. Any ideas on who else might be included in that group? At first I thought Fain might, since he was the grand-high Da…

I just dont like these as titles:- The Gathering Storm: A Memory of Light Part 1 Swirling Winds: A Memory of Light Part 2 Tarmon Gai'don: A Memory of Light Part 3 If you are making them 3 different books, grow some balls and give them their own titles. And give the last book the "A Memory of Light" title. What do you all think

Just opening a general discussion thread for anyone who has heard of or read any of the "Wheel of Time" books, or just wants to know what is going on. There are, however, a few rules that will, hopefully, help everyone out: 1. I don't want someone to spoil something so before your post please put how far you are in the books. Example: "Little more that half way through 'Knife of Dreams' the eleventh book. So, Really there is just one rule other than the general ones for every other thread. I want this to be a fun thread for everyone so please don't ruin the books for other people.

So we all know Tarmon Gai'don is coming and a lot of important characters are finally going to meet their destinies and stuff like that, but the book obviously isn't going to close with the Dark One's last words(I would think). So the question is how long do you think the story will go after the Last Battle is over? Will it go on to tell us how each faction reacts and deals with these world changing events? Will everyone stay united or will they all break apart and how far do you think this will be elaborated on? What do you think!

  18. Started by The Watcher and Wanderer,

I notice that the cover simply reads "The Gathering Storm" book 12 of the Wheel of Time. No were do the words "A Memory of Light." appear. So have they finally dropped the charade that this is one book divided into three volumes and just admitted that there will be three more books in the the series. Its cool, I believe that this was necessary and that it probably would have happened even if RJ were still alive, but its nice to see reality acknowledged and the sugar coating taken off. Still, book 14 had better be called "A Memory of Light."

  19. Started by mb,

From one of Min's viewings, I think Lan would regain his kingdom. This thread is to talk about ways it could be done. Ways I thought of: -Some channeler (maybe Elayne) would discover how to make Nym. An army of Nym be made and that army would come to Malkier and make plants. Then the Blight would back off. (The Green Man, which was a Nym, blocked off the Blight when he was alive.) -An army of Ogier come and fight back the Blight. -Lan become persuaded (likely by Nynaeve) to lead an army to fight off the Blight. -Some channeler/channelers would mimic the Green Man's ability at the region of Malkier. -Channelers able to find a way to hold back the Blight…

  20. Lets attack and defend all of our favorite/despised characters! Personally, I don't have many troubles with any of the characters, but Berelain does annoy me a bit. It's like, GIVE IT A BREAK!!!! To be honest though, I find the least liked characters to keep the freshest. Rand is getting a bit annoying, "GRR. ARGH. Me dragon reborn. Me tough. You girl. Me pansyboy. NO kill girl. Grr. Me tough" and then of course all the male and female characters are a bit repetitive "It's all the guys/girls fault. Why can't I understand men/women, I'm sure *insert other character here* would know what to do. I wish I could stop thinking about him/her. Repeat ad infinitum."

Min's viewings said that "A falcon and a hawk, pershing on your shoulders. Both female, I think". We know that Faile is the falcon, but could queen Tenobia be the hawk? She is unmarried, and she holds the broken crown, that we know Perrin will have.

  22. Moraine has to be pretty much the best, most courageous person of the entire story. She always kept her head in every situation, devoted her entire life to train and "raise" and protect the savior of that age, "almost:)" gave her life to protect those she cared for and defeat Lanfear. She is strait up awesome, She even humbles herself to satisfy the whims of the Dragon and appease him, even though she is almost old enough to be his mother and is arguably one of the smartest poeple since before the age of legends.

I don't know if this has been discussed or not, I didn't see anything that leads me to believe it has, but... In the first few books up to The Dragon Reborn Jordan keeps bringing up that 13 fades can turn any woman that can channel to the Dark One. I don't think its a huge leap to believe that the same would hold true for any male that can channel as well, though I don't remember it ever being mentioned. We do know for a fact that the Black Ajah had a plot to set Taim loose on the world, disguised as Rand Al'Thor. But why would Taim go along with any plans from Dark Friends? Not like Taim would actually gain any real power going around destroying everything with the on…

  25. Started by Bela,

I am just closing off on my latest re-read with KOD and I got to the chapter when Mat solves the riddle and talks to Aludra about the Dragon's eggs. I then started thinking about TG and other battles they may be used in, and starting wondering about how effective they will actually be against an army that has channelers. Most multi-channeler battles we have seen have had the channelers throwing fireballs and lightnings back and forth between themselves. What is to stop them making a shield of air to stop the eggs coming at them, or weave a net of air right in front of the barrel and have the Dragon destroy itself. You would have to have channelers dedicated to stopping th…

  26. Started by Achoo,

I've noticed that the Shadow's tactics need a lot of work. For example, they send assasins to Mat, Perrin and Rand, but thay send the worst assasins for each. The gholam pursuing Mat is vulnerable especially to Mat's medallion. Had it been sent to kill Rand, it would had a better chance of success, as Rand possesses no sure means to stop it. Rand is hunted by the Forsaken, whom he can fight easily. The Forsaken would have no trouble destroying Perrin, who is often alone and rarely accompanied by more than a few channelers (none of which can detect saidin or see its weaves). Perrin was attacked by Slayer, who was able to move in the dream world, and Perrin is well equipped…

Sorry if it's already been brought up and answered already, but I simply can't find it anywhere. Is there someone who could explain how the halls, sitters, voting, smaller/larger consensus, number of sitters showing up needed, etc seem to work? Or can it be found somewhere? I simply don't understand the system. It seemed to me that for some decisions you need 2/3 of all the sitters, and some others all of them, but it doesn't seem to fit, for example: How could Elaida put Siuan down, I mean what's this talk about bare minimum? Why did they have to do it in secret? Does it matter how many sitters are present? Thanks a lot in advance.

OK, so I just finished Knife of Dreams for the second time. Now what the frick is up with the ending? These retarded Red Ajah chicks come to bond men who can channel to "protect the world from them." Of course, they don't realize that a) men are safe now, and b) rand already told egwene's ppl that THEY can bond men. As if that weren't enough, Mazrim Taim ALLOWS them to!! And then saying to "let the lord of chaos rule?" What? Is that just meant to confirm that he IS a darkfriend? And does that mean that ALL of his lackies are also darkfriends? Someone please help, I'm sooooo confused.

  29. Started by Kalthandrix,

I have been going through the books and have a few questions that I cannot seem to find details on, though I admit that I have not made it though the final couple of books yet, but I do not believe that those questions are covered these. So here we go - 1. I have always wondered what the three questions were that Rand asked when he stepped though the twisted door frame in The Shadow Rising. Has there been anything that told of of those? 2. There was some discussion of something like 9 imppossible tasks that Rand would accomplish. Can someone point me to what book this is referenced in and could anyone state which of these tasks he might have already compl…

Any one else agree? He's supposed to be this cat that doesn't let any of his followers ever fail. But his top generals keep failing again and again. You got their first failure when they lost the war of the shadow. I mean almost all of them now have been killed by Rand or his friends, but they keep getting reincarnated. Just not that bright.
