And I have a few questions I just know you would all love to answer for my lazy self. Did Egwene plan to get captured? From the PoV she seems surprised, but then in the cover flap of KoD it sounds like she planned to infiltrate the White Tower. Is the letter from the dead woman that Thom is clutching from Moiraine or Morgase or who? If he told us I guess I missed it. When Mat says something like "It was all for nothing" after Tuon gives Luca the warrant granting her protection, was that because the warrant would have protected Luca from anything Renna could have summoned? I didn't quite understand this because wouldn't it also just be proof that Tuon was th…

I've got a couple of questions on the true power. Is it the same in every way as the one power except for the fact that it's linked to the dark one and you need his permission to channel it? Also say if you balefired someone with the true power, is it any different than balefireing someone with the one power?

  4. I was doing a re-read and got the min and rands first time meeting each other. she says that he veiwing of rand include a beggers staff and white-hot iron. Any clue to what these are about, thanks.

  5. In all cases assume that RJ left sufficient notes for these to be completed according to his vision.

  6. I again have been reading alot of posts about people not liking Perrin Aybarra. Just wondering if it's because he is after his wife? I would hope that if my wife was captured that I would do anything to get her back. A lot of people also don't like Faile. That I understand a little more about. I think she's very opinionated and conceited, but she does have her loyalties and she looks after her own. If anything, I think Perrin is the most Loyal to Rand than Mat is.

that forces of the Dark One are up for some major whoopass come Tarmon Gaidon. If the only channelers the DO can count on are Taim's Asha'man, Black Ajah, and maybe some Aiel Wise Ones, Sea Folk Windfinders and Seanchan damane as well, it seems to me no matter how many Shadowspan and Darkfriends they pull out of the Blight, they can't hope to compete against all the united light side channelers. I don't know the exact numbers in question but it seems to me that at best the darkside could scrape up around 300 channelers(maybe 500, beeing really generous on damane, windfinders and wise ones), while the light side has at least a few thousand channelers including all the…

Excerpt from the KC: Twice and twice shall he be marked, twice to live, and twice to die. Once the heron, to set his path. Twice the heron, to name him true. Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay. The Aelfinn (elfinn?) to Matrim Cauthon about his destiny: to die and live again, and live once more part of what was Min Farshaw (to Rand): "I saw you and another man. I couldn't make out either face, but I knew one was you. You touched, and seemed to merge into one another and....I don't know what it means, Rand, except that one of you dies and one doesn't" Now I know that the part of the KC I quoted i…

So as usual when reading the books, well any books, I always picture what I would have done differently as the character. So here's a few things I came up with 1. Egwene - She knew how to mask the ability to channel, travel, and disguise herself. I would have traveled into the white tower masked and in disguise, used the power to bind Elaida and travel away back to the camp. Risky, but I think I could have pulled it off without too many problems. If it didn't break the tower sisters, keep it up until they do. I'd put a few sisters with the army to try and cut off the sneak attacks, a few barriers of air going around them and you got yourself some prisoners. 2. …

  13. I noticed that one of the key problems with the Horn of Valere is that those who are tied to the Wheel yet currently alive will not be summoned. Okay, I know that's one of those "Well, duh!" things, but it seems like it could be very important. See, we know at the very least that Rand and Ishmael are tied to the wheel, but based on something one of the heroes said, the heroes do not always fight on the same side, they fight against each other, with, and many times they aren't even alive at the same time. If someone is bound to the wheel however, they are very difficult to kill, maybe not even Balefire could remove them permanently (no clue on that, just a guess). This wou…

i've noticed that perrin and mat's taveren effect, except for mat's luck, doesn't work as crazily as rands. i'm thinking of that whole section in tDR when rand's on his way to tear and it seems like everything he passes through just gets messed up. like the whitecloaks fighting each other and the guy finding a well of money and houses burning down. also in tSR the crazy stuff that happens in the first chapter with perrin's axe attacking him and mat's playing cards growing and trying to kill him. perrin and mat's taveren effect doesn't seem to do that to other people. and it isn't that they aren't strong taveren. can anyone give me some insight as to why it doesn't?

"The man who called himself Bors, at least in this place...." Alright, quick question that should be quickly answered. I was randomly looking through chapter summaries at enyclopaedia-wot and I came across something in the notes. As you'll recall, this is the Darkfriend social (a term that I believe was coined in that summary), where we first see Jaichim Carridin, Bors. He was looking around at the other darkfriends... "His nose wrinkled in sudden disgust. Even a Tinker, in bright green breeches and a virulent yellow coat. We can do without those come the Day." So here's the thing, note number 4 on this page says of the passage above: "Possibly Aram,…

As I've been reading the boards I've noticed something funny, words from the series get misspelled, a lot. The thing is however, even common words get misspelled, long ones, short ones, it doesn't seem to matter much. That got me thinking though, a lot of the spellings seem quasi-phonetic, but some of them seem a bit mangled. This brings me to my question, when reading, do you skip letters, rearrange them, just kinda take a best guess at what the word is? No, I'm not trying to call you dyslexic, I personally have trouble with the odd patterns of some words and names, even common ones.

  18. Hi, I just started reading the first wheel of time book. I'm really enjoying it so far. I just have one question. I was bored one day and decided to type in rand al'thor into google. Lo and behold a line comes from wikipedia that says "the only person stitched out of the wheel of time". So now I'm just wondering if I went ahead and just ruined the whole series for myself or if its not that big of a spoiler and will be dealt with soon enough in the book. Thanks for your help!

The evidence, so far, suggest that she's infallible. The other prophecies we get concerns great tidings and are appropriately vague. But if Min is always right does that mean that everything in randland is deterministic. Does free will exist?

the section in winter's heart where graendal (i believe) says if saidin is cleansed will the dark one trust you all then [male channelers], paraphrasing. If saidin was cleansed then the male forsaken would not need the dark one's bond to protect them from the taint. but saidar was never tainted and the dark one was never more mistrustful of women who could channel? do men present some special threat to the dark one? why were women never distrusted despite the fact that they had not need of the dark one's protection to avoid going crazy.

i've got this crazy theory about perrin and dain. after galad wins the duel with the lcc of the whitecloacks, whos name i can never remember btw, he and his remaining whitecloaks head north, towards perrin. dain is with the whitecloaks. it's logical to assume they're gonna meet and have a bit of a chat. dain's going to be all darkfriend this and you killed my father that. i was wondering how that whole thing was going to be cleared up. i was thinking that the seanchan general tylee could've been at falme and seen how geofram died and told dain about it. any thoughts?

hello. this is my first post. love robert jordan and love the series. quick thought. lot of very cogent arguments about recycled forsaken on the boards. there was some pov by one of the forsaken mentioning that in the war prior to the dragon's strike the forsaken had plotted against each other on occasion and had perhaps actively killed one one another. is there a limit in the amount of time the do has to recycle a forsaken? how do we know tha he hasn't recycled some dead forsaken from the age of legends who we have never heard of b/c they were killed prior to the sealing of the bore. i.e. why couldn't someone like taim be one of these old evil channelrs. just a…

So, I've been re-reading the Wheel of Time series in preparation for the final three books (only three more books guys! Promise!), and I came across something that intrigued me. Now, I've read through this series three times already, so I've got a pretty clear grasp on things, and when one character says "Let's go do this," I know pretty much why, and what they're thinking and all. However, at the end of The Shadow Rising, the very end of the "Goldeneyes" chapter, Fain finds that the Trolloc raid into the Two Rivers has utterly failed. The Two Riversians have won, and al'Thor never even showed up. Angered by this, Fain sets out for Tar Valon in order to steal …

I've been thinking about what the world would be like after the Last Battle. From the quotes from the fourth age we know that the light was victorious and that the Dragon Reborn is a revered figure. We also know that everyone quoted from the fourth age is from a nation that does not yet exist, suggesting that at least most of the current nations will be destroyed, or at least changed beyond recognition. In the prophecies it says that the Dragon Reborn will break the world again, so my question is how will the world be broken and what will it look like afterwards. In the Age of Legends the world was broken by insane male channelers who destroyed civilization and remade the…

First I humbly apologize if this subject has come up before. I searched but I couldn't find any key words to work. I have a problem with some Aes Sedai, (don't we all) but this kind of hits close to home. In Winters Heart (and in a few other places I can't remember right now. When Cadsuane and company are going to Far Madding to find Rand she is getting yelled at by either a Wavemistress or Wavefinder. The book sends us through about 2 pages of this when finally Cadsuane basically turns around, repeats everything the lady says and gives her answer then goes back to ignoring her once more. Now I have seizures. They have affected my short term memory an…

What exactly is the difference between Angreal and Sa'Angreal. I know sa are more powerful, but are there any more specifics? I always thought of it as kind of a difference in how they amplified it, since they seem to amplify based on someone's original strength, but at the same time seemed to be able to do some incredible stuff, they'd just be kinda like different types of math equations for the power output. An angreal would be something like Output = Input^1.25 or maybe 5xInput + 1,000,000x.001xinput and then a Sa'Angreal might be 1.3^input+input^3.7+e^input+1,000,000,000x.00001xinput (numbers just made up), but the Sa'Angreal would interact with the power differently,…

I have seen people talking about how Mat and Perrin are to be the lights main generals. Where are you getting this. It will be like Mat, Great Captains/Seachan Main Genrals (Furyke), Aiel Cheifs. Then maby Perrin will command a whole 2000 people, he is not a general but will be a figurehead. I have a quick question Mat always says that as soon as a general picks up a sword he is as good as a common soilder or something, but he is always on front line with his men killing shit, do you think in the Last Battle Mat and Perrin will be on the front lines or sorta staying with the casters at the back.

Hey there all. Brandon Sanderson has just added a Shifting Winds status bar to his website (http://www.brandonsanderson.com/), and it is already up to 49%! I'm guessing that this is a mixture of RJ's work, the stuff that didn't make it into Gathering Storm from the work BS did last year, and new work from the last couple of days.
