ok, this is a little over the top. but, in the whole series, everybody who is involved with the tower of ghenjei is either dead or a hero, (an example is, Birgitte, when she tells perrin to be careful about the tower when he chases slayer and sees him go into the tower, she also stresses that its not advisable to enter esp. in world of dreams), so, i was thinking, what if moiraine can come back as a hero, and not as a human.(ie, similar to arthur hawkwing, who can only be summoned by the horn of valere). it is also well established that going out of the tower is close to impossible, and also considering slayer (may be the dark one) goin in there, maybe the finn are act…

I was looking through here, and I didn't see anything directly pointed towards Anan. Who was she? She was an Aes Sedai, I know, who was stilled. I'm just wondering, any speculation on what she did to be stilled? And who she could have been before hand. She adopted a new name when she went to Ebu Dar.

I just finished KoD again and was curious to know if anyone has any theories on what the Aelfinn mean when they tell Rand "to live you must die".

In Shadow Rising when Rand was talking with Lanfear, that was the first moment Rand a Lews Therin memory emerged. Throughout Fires of Heaven, Lews Therin at times spoke through Rand. Since Lord of Chaos, Lews Therin for the most part talked to Rand through Rand's thoughts. Several times Lews Therin channeled through Rand. I think Lews Therin took Rand's body, probably when Rand was born or shortly after. The discussion in Shadar Logoth in Eye of the World supports this. From the passage (Thom speaking, bold is mine)::

I've searched around but can't seem to find an answer to this. In my copy of The Fires of Heaven, page 209 is a misprint of page 201. Can someone post either a scan of the correct page or point me to a place that has the text from that page perhaps? I'm more than likely not missing anything even though i'm a couple chapters passed it by now but I'd like to know what it says on that page anyways. Thanks for all your help. -Bob

  6. We know Lews Therin is tied to the Horn of Valere due to Hawkwing's hesitation at seeing him in the flesh when Mat sounds the horn. He said since he was there in the flesh they would have to follow the Dragon Banner instead. We also know that between the Age of Legends and book 2 the Horn of Valere was not sounded and by the time it was, Rand was alive and kicking. So sometime after the Last Battle and before the Age of Legends the Horn must get used. The only other alternative I can think of is that tied to the Horn, Rand dies in the Last Battle and once the Horn of Valere is sounded he rides out leading the Heroes. It would happen that way if Rand did die there an…

  7. Alright this is my very first time posting a theory so here it goes... I have often thought of the evil that was present in Shadar Logoth. Also the presence that is Machin Shin(The Black Wind) that exists within the ways. What I bring to you today is a theory that they share a commonality that maybe people haven't yet thought of. I will present evidence to this effect and allow you to draw your own conclusions based on this evidence. Lets start with listing the facts of Mashadar within Shadar Logoth. We all know that Mashadar was the entity created by the people of Aridhol because of their strict desire to destroy the shadow they themselves began to enlist …

Saw another thread on this, but thought I'd ask specificly: Will you reread the whole series? Or just KoD? Or just follow Leigh's re-read? Or, for a true fan, all three? THanks, B.

Okay, a crazy thought came to me earlier. The prophecies mention something about The Dragons blood being spilled on the rocks of Shayul Ghul. Why does that mean he has to die? I don't know about you, but when I get cut, I bleed, not nececarily die. Idle speculation on the whole blood=death thing.

It's funny how posts begat posts, huh? I wanted to see what cool RJ stuff other people have. I met him at JOseph Beth's in Charlotte, on the KoD tour (And if the chick who took my picture with him and forgot to send it is on this board, I hope karma was kind to you!) Of course, I got all my HB books signed, (more on that later) the big white book, New Spring, and i think a comic. By far,the coolest thing was a RUSSIAN 1st edition of tEotW. ( i think it was broken into two parts, like the young reader version) I got a good bt of KoD promo material, but i don't think any of that was signed. I just saved it. I live out side of Atlanta, (SW side) so it was a…

Something been bugging me in EotW the first couple of books. Moiraine seems to be more advanced than regular Aes Sedia. And i mean way MORE advanced, even if she has more poteintal and hence learns weaves faster. I mean, she has done things that i still haven't seen Aes Sedia even dream of. For example: -she creates a huge, and i mean huge, fog in EotW (chapter 12) that no normal Aes Sedia could do, especially since they are been know to suck with weather. -She weaves an invisibility weave. Ok, we see this before but only after one of the forsaken teaches rand. And then after Moghedien teaches the girls. So who taught Moraine? -Balefire, duh. -Supresses the …

I just considered the possibility that Semi will be bonded with that "extra bit" by one of the Asha'man. I really don't know why it never occured to me before, it seems like a pretty obvious way to control and utilize such a powerful and dangerous prisoner. I don't really think it will play out that way, since at the very least Cadsuane would throttle Rand with her bare hands if he allowed it to happen, but I'd be quite pleased if it did.

  16. While Min is talking to Elayne and Egwene, Elayne comments that Min told her that one of her viewings consisted of a severed hand. I'm assuming this severed hand is a foreshadowing of the events in Knife of Dreams, but why did Min see this while viewing Elayne? I don't see how Rand's severed hand could have anything to do with Elayne...? Unless it's because Rand is actually bonded to her by then? Has Min ever had other viewings like this?

This is maby a strange question, but in the stone at Tear lanfear says "You have been marked i see" what does she mean by that? Marked with love? Marked with something like Alvearin, but from the light? If it is that Elayne loves him, its a strange thing to say. When you read it, it sounds like she sees a mark on him. And its not the burn in mark on his hand, she talks about Elayne. This is a thing that bothers me when i read that part.

Somehow in my first four reads of Fires of Heaven I missed it when Birgette told Nynaeve that she had seen the Forsaken spying on each other in TR before they were freed from the Bore. She actually said they were in pairs watching one another. Doesn't this mean that even though only one of them was free to enter the world of the living that the others could still have 3,000 years to plan what they would do when they were free? Even with their mutual mistrust, none of them were stupid. They must have conceded after a few hundred years that it was in their best interest to develop a plan. The wonder girls can channel in TR, right? Why wouldn't the Forsaken hav…

I am reading through the series and one thing that bothers me is that it seems that the characters do not truly have any free will. It seems like they are merely pawns for the Wheel. I am beginning to see the Wheel as a sinister, manipulative entity that costs thousands their lives merely because of its "need" to "fix" itself. I know I am pretty sure I read an interview somewhere where Jordan said the Wheel is not sentient, but it still seems awfully sinister to me.

Anyone wonder what the Seventh Age is like? Is the One Power gone again and everyone uses advanced technology instead? Or is the One Power completely dominant and they use it for everything like in the Age of Legends? A combination of advanced technology and the One Power? Or is it something else? This thread is for pure speculation. :)

I've searched this forum for answers, in fact one of the sole reasons i signed up to this light forsaken forum was to get some answers. Now that I've realised NOBODY knows who killed Asmodean (or however you spell that funked-up gleeman's name) I decided to pursue a different line of questioning. Firstly is there anywhere I can find a list of real-world references in WoT, I know there must be plenty, I spot a few every now and then, and I assume there are loads I missed. I've found some rather incomplete lists before and I just wondered if anybody has got furhter than the couple I saw. I mainly say this because it throws me into a fury whenever i spot the references (of…

This thread is to talk about what the prophecy means. From Dragon Reborn Chapter 5: The prophecy in full (Great Hunt Chapter 26): blood part: -Rand's death at the location. -Rand's literal blood spilled at the location. -Rand's offspring being born or sacrificed at the location. Death seems most likely. Twice dawns: -A literal eclipse around the time of Rand's death. -Rand being resurrected same day he dies. -Rand's offspring being born same day of his death. -World's rebirth at the time of Rand's death. Not sure if there would be an eclipse, though it would be likely. If Rand gets resurrected, I would guess that it would be …

For the most part, the Ajah an Aes Sedia chooses I think relates somewhat closely to the life she had before coming to the Tower. Wisdoms would tend to choose the Yellow Ajah since they often deal with Healing. Librarians & maybe Teachers would tend to choose the Brown Ajah since they would seek knowledge. Philosophers would tend to choose the White Ajah. Mediators & councilors would probably tend to choose the Gray Ajah. Judges might tend to choose the Blue Ajah. Those involved frequently in battles, they might tend to choose the Green Ajah. Domani women might also tend to choose the Green Ajah yet because of them trained to "love" men. …

I am reading through the series and one of the most striking things I have noticed is how Saidin and Saidar are descrobed as making the user feel wonderful while they are using it, and how Channelers are basically addicted to the stuff. This always made me feel a tad uncomfortable. Due to my persoanlity and upbringing it seems to me that Saidin and Saidar are akin to drugs or alcohol, thus making them bad. It seems to me the world would be better off without these addictive forces. I admit, I do enjoy the battles using the One Power, but there is always that lingering discomfort in the back of my mind that the characters are basically drug addicts. Boy, I hope this …
