Hello there I am a big WOT fan so I made a youtube vid. It is a spoof of a scene from the Dragon Reborn. I might make more if I get a few hits. I am still getting used to the movie software, I reckon I can make better quality in the future. It's just a bit of fun realy. News of a 'real' movie being made inspired me. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3gPM6Nx3LQ4

I think I've just come across something that I haven't seen before. It's nothing major and no doubt someone has already seen it. Right, we're all aware of the mythological links RJ scattered throught TWOT. One of the clearest is perhaps the Authurian legend and Rand. Sword in the Stone and all that jazz. I've just come across another little nugget, which, I don't think has been mentioned before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uther_Pendragon This wiki is talking about the legend of Uther Pendragon, Arthur's father. Igraine = Tigraine ? If so, think of terms of her running off, finding Rands dad, and also the Aiel War. Nothing revolutiona…

I know this is pushing it as far as stuff to talk about goes, but I just wanted to know... Constantly throughout the series R.J stresses the fact that most, if not all female wilders who survive develop a block. Although we don't see very many male wilders, none of the ones we do see (Rand and logain for sure... maybe Taim) don't develop a "bar"... in fact the only male channeler we see with one is Fedwin Morr and he does not have the spark inborn. Is this just a difference in saidin and saidar? Or do we really not have enough male wilders to compare with?

Are Rand's dreams still protected? I know setting up a dream ward requires very little OP and is done almost automatic but Rand can't even embrace the OP without getting very sick, can he still set his up? Is he vulnerable to invasion in this area again by ANY one(Wise Ones and Eggy included)? I also know a Warder's bond supplies some protection of dreams, but does distance effect it? Both, Elayne and Alanna are pretty far away now and I don't know if Aviendha knows how to set-up dream wards. Is the protection a Warder gets even an automatic benefit at all (like longer life and going longer w/out things like sleep or food), or does the AS have to set up the ward…

There have been many threads and discussions about Luc and Tigraine and Gitara, one started by myself, so I apologize for another one, but I just read this part and would like your opinion. Lord of Chaos Ch. 16 Tellings of the Wheel pg. 384-86 It says that Gitara spent more time with Luc and Tigraine than with the queen and she supposedly sent Luc to the Blight one year before Tigraine to the waste. My question is did she suspect that Luc was a darkfriend and sent him away to protect Tigraine? For those who have seen tooooo many threads on this subject I apologize but its fresh in my mind. :)

I've run across several different interpretations of this. Some think that all of the Aiel except for a few will be wiped out. Some think that the Shaido will be terminated. Some say only the Tinkers will survive. Just the ones who follow Rand? Only the ones who wear the headband with the ancient Aes Sedai symbol? Who will survive? What does the prophecy really predict? Can it be literally interpreted? Is it meant to only apply to one clan or sept? How do you interpret the dire prediction?

Well, time for another "what you would do if you were in Randland" thread! Pick a country, and tell us what you would do to improve the state of your country, but at the same time, not bankrupt your country, so don't go of and build massive stuff just for fun, be realistic. This iwll also be my final thread about this stuff, so there will be no more threads like these from me, if you guys don't think I shoudl make more threads, but I don't think so.

The new Sarscape books annoy me, and they annoy me allot. Mind you I will probably by them as I collect anything associated with Wheel of Time, but they still annoy me. I think the fantasy community should try to get away from the fantasy was meant for young adults belief that so many seam to have, not add to it. I mean it do not help to just heavy haded cut away stuff from the WoT books to make them suited for 10 year olds. It annoy me when I find adult fantasy books in the kids section at book stores, and I think these books will add to that. I mean there is allot of kids fantasy out there, and allot of it is pretty good. I mean the first books I remember well that my m…

What other series/single books besides WoT would you suggest reading to a novice in Fantasy/SciFi? As far as I know, in USA there would be quite a different list from, for example, Europe. Is that so? ;) I don't mean masterpieces like "A Song of Ice & Fire", rather kind of "local" writers. Any opinions are welcome!

I have very bad eyesight, and can only read large print books. I have therefore listened to all the audiobooks several times, and am eagerly awaiting the release of AMoL. However, I haven't seen any news anywhere about the release of the audiobook for AMoL. Does anyone know if I can expect the audiobook for AMoL or even a large print version to be released around the same time as the book? I don't know how much longer I can wait to hear about Matt going to kick some finn ass, among other things!

Through re-readings, losings and re-findings, and loaners I never thought I'd get back but eventually did I found myself one day with four or five copies of Eye of the World and thought, "I wonder how many there are?" And I've set out to fill a shelf with nothing but Eye of the World. Currently I have the following: Full Hardcover Large Paperback Book club HC Starscape two-parter Atom two-parter Unabridged cd PB Atom PB Tor PB reprint Mark Rolston tapes Small 'library' binding 'Part One' free preview sample So what am I missing of English versions? I'm not sure if I want to go foreign language or not... how many languages are we talking here?

  17. I remember reading that before RJ passed he told the story in its entirety to a select few persons so that they can take notes and know how it is to play out, and that they also made a recording of it. My question is has anyone heard whether or not their have been any plans or even just thinking about publishing this recording? I'm plenty excited about reading the final book, but this would be something entirely RJ and in that regard something entirely special since it would be the last true piece of his work for us readers to enjoy.

  18. First of all, I really have no idea how spoilers to a yet-to-be-published-book do get out. It even happened to the last Harry Potter book and I am not sure how. Some evil betrayal, no doubt. How would you react if actual spoilers got out? What we discuss on the boards is purely hypothetical-so they are not exactly spoilers. But, if actual spoilers did get out (And Heavens forbid that)- then would you seize the chance to read them-or would you avoid them? I never read spoilers. I would avoid them alltogether. (Hmm..what are official spoilers?)

I can't think of what the message on the wagon meant. what was supposed to be told to the dragon reborn? sorry if this has been discussed, i searched but didn't find anything and don't remember seeing it.

  20. I'm in the midst of rereading the series, and as I've now come to WH, some of my prior understandings of the nature of Slayer and his dual existence have been shown to be incorrect. Really all I'm doing here is thinking out loud, and asking for any references I may have missed that grant more info on his unique dual nature. What I had previously understood, and what all the evidence prior to Winter's Heart shows, was that Luc only "dominated" in the waking world, while Isam was the form Slayer took in the world of dreams. Also, any injury done to one, is also reflected in the other (The Shadow Rising, when Perrin shoots slayer and Lord Luc is then injured in the wa…

I was looking through the wheel of time books and I was looking at the borderlander royalty that came out to find Rand. At first, they simply state that they are coming to get rand to pay attention to the borders, but upon thinking it over, why would it take 4 rulers and a 200K person army and a significant number of aes sedai just to convince rand that he should focus on the borders. Any thoughts on what they may really be up to? (Don't know if this has been discussed already before)

The dangers of balefire seem to be overated. Cadsuane freaks when Rand uses it and LTT claims that he must not use balefire even for Illenya, for whom he would burn the world for, so clearly the effects are worse then this. Despite this we see Rand use balefire extensively, the raid on Camlyn springs to mind where Rand decimates a Trolloc army with balefire yet we see no ill effects despite the fear held by LTT and Caudsune latter in the books. Now to me this seems a bit strange especially considering how greatly LTT fears balefire. To explain this discrepancy I believe that usually when a someone channels balefire their whole strength is behind it. In additi…

Hello my fellow readers! Just for fun, curiosity and maybe inspiration I'm wondering if you guy's ever listen to music when you're reading WOT? And if you do what kind of music it is that gets you even more into the books? I love to read WOT in my Fatboy sit sack with a glass of wine on a rainy afternoon with some LOTR music in the background. This is of course the most ideal situation ;D. Let me know Greetz Xar.

There has been some discussion about the WoT cover art and I made a poll a little while ago about the favourites, but with I was wondering what everyone thinks should/will be on the cover art for AMoL? We have seen various things shown in the current books, including: actual scenes from the book (though not exactly following the book descriptions...), made up scenes, passive scenes, action filled scenes.....and the LoC cover (gaaaaaa!)ect. so what direction do you think this one will go? Personally I don't have high expectations because the guy they use (name?) hasn't impressed me so far , even though his is much better than I could do. I would like to see an action …

So far as I know, we haven't seen any examples of an Asha'man and an Aes Sedai bonding each other. But it's an obvious thing to have happen. What would be the result of a reciprocal bonding? What would the wildly differing natures of Saidin and Saidar mean in this context? Will it happen? Should it happen? I did search, but either I can't format a search string in a way that will get me what I'm looking for (likely), or this has not been discussed other than as a side issue (unlikely). Ideas? --Shannon

So, Aviendha can unpick weaves, Nynaeve can heal severed channelers and Elayne can... stamp her feet. But I've been thinking for a while now that there are some 'talents' that would be really, really useful. Perhaps they would have made the story less interesting though, less intrigue etc? By talents I dont mean just strong in one area, I mean actually be able to do something - a skill, if you like, that others dont have. Things like, someone who can 'read a soul' to tell if the person is darkfriend or not, a woman who can see a man's weaves, and vice versa, things like that. Or would that strip the story of the intrigue and frustration?

Missed some major information. So I've literally (last night) just finished book 10 for what may as well be the first time. Egwene under the control of WT AS. But... I dont understand what she was doing over there anyway!? The last chapter confused me, I think I have missed some information / a conversation somewhere. It all started when Tarna's report said that Nicola had escaped/run away. Presumably now i'm thinking it was Nicola who alerted Elaida's AS that 'someone' was coming? (Egwene's last thought was that she had been betrayed, but by whom? I think either Nicola or Halima/Aran'gar told Mesaana). However the entire chapter talks about Bode havi…
