Impossible? Maybe not. Communication in Randland...uuuhhh...STINKS!!! (old thread from last year some time) When the Last Battle takes place, Rand's armies will be depending upon messages carried by Ashamen in person by Traveling from general to general to try to coordinate the efforts of the forces of the Light. Consider this as an alternative: What if Avienda could identify one of the terangreal from the Ebou Dar stash as being a "way to talk to other people over long distances", then Elayne could figure out how to reproduce it? I'm thinking something similar to the call box that Sammael used to talk with the Shaido witch queen (Sevana?). …

I just typed it up on Amazon to see the cover and guess what I found? Read the first two reviews on this page, (and possibly the others): http://www.amazon.com/Path-Daggers-Wheel-Time-Book/dp/B000BZEP8W/ref=pd_sim_b_5 I am no longer surprised why the WoT isn't any more popular.

I'm not sure of the actual classification, but I was wondering whether you would classify the Wheel of Time as Yound Adult or Adult?

During the Breaking, Male Aes Sedai raised up mountains from the sea floor, and sank chunks of the continent into the ocean. However, when Siaun is "reconnected" for lack of a better word, she comments on how she can no longer lift large objects with the Power, like Gareth Bryne, and that lifting objects is the simplest yet hardest thing to do with the Power. She cannot even lift one person! Granted, men are stroger than women, and granted, Siaun is hardly strong for a woman. BUT, inorder for a man to be able to lift up a mountain, he would have to be stronger than Siaun by a factor of 10,000 or more! To give an idea on how strong men can get, consider that Rand note…

  6. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the WOT. But all books have their pros and cons. What do U hate about the WOT? My view: 1) Aes Sedai are too proud and stiff-necked. 2) Faile is a waste of time 3) I dislike Rand having so many injuries: two non-healable wounds and one hand blasted off. 4) I strongly dislike the Perrin-Faile chase throughout the latter books. It was horrid. 5) Extreme intricate description of the surroundings can sometimes be annoying when the plot is moving fast and something exciting is happening. 6) I also dislike Rand's proud attitude towards Moiraine in Book 5. 7) Also, there is too little Rand in the last two books. I would have liked to have…

I've just read the passage in TDR where Hopper leads Perrin to the meeting of DF's and the Dark One in his dream... I cried my eyes out when Hopper showed Perrin that he can finally soar like an Eagle as he had yearned for as a young cub... Beautiful writing...

Verin must have a terangreal similar to that used by Cadsune and Nynaeve it is the only way to explain how she could delve the Ogier inside the steading where channeling shouldn't be possible in book 2 and know he was an empty shell, yet there has been no other reference to her having such an object.

The WoT has more nudity than any other fantasy series I have read. Lets just look at a few: 1) Aiel practically don't care about clothing at all. 2) Sea Folk unlace blouses at Sea. 3) Aiel ceremonies of becoming first sisters involve being naked 4) Being raised to accepted requires you to be naked Though there are reasons for all of those, it seems unnecessary to have so much naked behaviour. I especially can't consider the Aiel view at all: If they don't care about seeing both men and women naked then there is no privacy left at all in their lives!

Im currently on my second time threw the series on Book Nine.... and ive been noticing Lews Therin saying the Three of them will kill more by the end... example "Now you have someone else to destroy, and not beforetime. How many will we three kill before the end, I wonder" So my question is who is the third person he is speaking of, my guess is that is was a person from the Age where there is no channeling, but that is just a guess was hoping one of you would be able to clear that up for me. Thanks ;D

  12. At 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 9th, the World Science Fiction Convention in Denver will host the following panel: 449: Rolling up the Wheel of Time CCC - Room 504 Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series has been rolling on for quite a few years now. Find out how Jordan wanted to finish the series, who is going to write the ending, and how the publishers are making it happen. Brandon Sanderson, (m) Moshe Feder, Peter Ahlstrom, Tom Doherty. I am not sure why they put me on the panel (that's a daunting group to be in!), but I'd like to make the most of it as a sort of representative of the fans who won't be able to be there. So I'm throwing this thread open…

So in PoD, Cadsuane told Rand that Callandor must be wielded by two women and a man linked with one of the women leading the flows, though the Light alone knows how she found that out. I was was just speculating to myself who would be wielding Callandor with Rand at the last battle. I've thought of two combinations. 1. Rand, Cadsuane, and Moiraine - If Moiraine is coming back, it would make sense for Rand's two advisers to aid him with Callandor. And it'd be pretty sweet. xD 2. Rand, Nynaeve, and Alivia - Alivia because of Min's foretelling and Nynaeve because Rand has linked with her before, and trusts her. Any thoughts?

This is actually about the two Forsaken who had particularly deadly brushes with Shadar Logoth: Sammael and Moghedien. Sammael got swallowed by Mashadar in ACoS, yet in KoD Moridin describes Sammael (or a Forsaken who looks like Sammael) ordering Trollocs and Fades into the Ways. If it was Sammael, how did he survive (or come back)? If it wasn't, then who was it? Also, what exactly happened to Moghedien at the end of WH? I was under the impression that she got caught between the taint and Mashadar, but since she was clearly with Moridin in the same scene in KoD, she probably survived that as well. Unless she's a ghost... but nevermind. Anyway, did any…

Ok the Aiel are to be punished for breaking the way of the leaf by doing violence. In the Big White Book it says "a group abandoned their vow of service in favor of their own future." "They decided that guardianship of the Aes Sedai relics was a hopeless mission and went in search for the old song and were considered "lost" by the rest of the Aiel. this spplinter group was the begining of the Tuatha'an". Doesn't this mean the Tuatha'an also failed the Aes Sedai? Though they stick to the way of the leaf, they did abandon their covenant to the Aes Sedai. So one would think there is some sort of bad thing coming for them.

Rand lost his hand (that rhymes). After he uses all the advantages he has with Semirhage he could use balefire to get his hand back.

When confronted by a Drahkar, Rand is unaffected because he is holding Saidin. I believe the same affect shields him from the full force of a Myrdraal's gaze. In addition, Alanna can't compel him with the bond, and I believe Demandred says once when threatened with compulsion, "such tricks don't work on those holding the Power." However, when Moiraine is attacked by a Drahkar, she embraces Saidar before releasing it and succombing to the shadowspawn's call. Also, Greandal uses compulsion on Moggy while Moggy is still holding the Power. So, does Saidin protect channelers from Mind Control in a way Saidar doesn't? Or is this an error?

My friend Pat asked me to relay news of this over here: His website, Pat's Fantasy Hotlist, the biggest SF&F blog on the Internet, is running a poll to see if people think Brandon Sanderson will successfully pull off A Memory of Light, and end the series in a befitting manner. The current opinion seems to be pretty high in Sanderson's favour. So, based on Sanderson's own work and the mountain of notes Jordan left behind, do you think he can successfully bring this huge series to a worthwhile conclusion? Check out the poll and comment here if you like. My own opinion: yes. Whilst reading Elantris, I thought that Sanderson's style was not a million miles …

(If you haven't read any further than book 6 or 7 I think, you should not read on!) So, in the latest books, Rand has having some difficulties with channeling. He seems to faint when he channels. I know this was something of the cleansing, but how will this affect Rand in TG? It would be stupid if he just fainted in the middle of the battle. I mean, it just wouldn't sound good.

LTT was a swordsman, and i feel it safe to assume that the sword he used was power wrought. ive been wondering this for a while. Could Tam's sword have been LTT's? I think that would be an interesting twist. Either that or Lamons sword. Its power wrought right? When Lan was telling Rand about the sword at the beginning of book 2 "that sword could tell the tale of 3000 years or more." i doubt this will be answered either way, but I find it interesting speculation.

  24. Started by Jambo,

I was reading through the LoC again and I came across something that I found interesting. This part is from Graendal's POV and it's when Sammael and Graendal are having a "discussion" about Rand. What's this, the ability to remove scars? Now that Semirhage has been caught I don't think it would be a stretch for Nynaeve to press her for information such as she did with Moghieden (sp?). If there's a way to remove bad scars maybe there are ways to heal even more grievous injuries :o aka the two wounds in Rand's side or his hand. Obviously there is quite a bit different between those, but with the knowledge of how to heal scars Nynaeve could probably figure som…

  25. Started by Solarian,

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I am certain it is possible. While the oaths may constrain Aes Sedai from lying outright, they do nothing to prevent Aes Sedai from misleading others, as long as they do so truthfully. My idea was that Aes Sedai can effectively "lie" by alternating speech volume. For example, they could insert barely audible negatives, or adjust the meaning of sentences by saying the "false" segment out loud while quietly muttering at the beginning or end of a sentence what would prevent the sentence from being an outright lie. As long as those they are addressing do not hear the quiet sections, the Aes Sedai pulling this trick has …

Instead of rushing to Shadar Logoth to stop Rand cleansing Saidin, why didn't they just travel to cairhien or tremalking and balefire the Sa'Angreal? They even knew he was going to use the Choden Kal beforehand!

  29. Started by RAND AL THOR,

According to Demandred's POV, he instantly figured out Rand's plan with the Cleansing as soon as he figured out where it was being used. Presumably, he knew of its location prior to going there. Why then, did he gateway himself right into the centre of the city which was being used by the Dragon Reborn in a huge experiment (with potentially disastrous consequences) to Cleanse the Taint of the Dark One on the Power that drove the Universe? He knew what Rand was doing (apparently). And yet he goes right into the city. I can't see anyone with even 5g of brains doing that. Possible reasons? (Aside the obvious)

  30. I must lodge a complaint against this forum and all its members. You have utterly and irrevocable destroyed at least 70% of all suspense I had regarding the Wheel of Time, by dicussing every topic possible in the utmost possible depth. Now, what court will accept my case? Okay, to be more serious: Have you ever felt in a similar way? I mean, I had various theories about various events etc... and I would have loved it if it had been revealed that I was wrong when I read AMOL. However, many of my theories have been shot down or accepted on the forum to such an extent that the possibility of the former event occuring is pretty much reduced! True, there are …
