Masuri and Annoura both snuck into Masema's camp several times right up through to the end of KoD--Perrin believes they went to meet Masema himself, and with good reason, to Perrin's eyes he is the only figure in that camp worth an Aes Sedai's attention--the rest are all rag tag zealots. Yet this seems strange--Masema hates Aes Sedai, and even Perrin notes that that continues in spite of the ongoing meetings. So, several curiosities here. Let me state them... 1. Both Masuri and Annoura claim Masema must be killed--Masuri having changed her mind--yet even after changing it, both she and Annoura continue to sneak into his camp. 2. Masema allows it, de…

Tarmon Gaidon starts tomorrow!! YOU are the new Naeblis... You have all of the resources of the shadow, You have all of the knowlege of the books, You have the DO's permission to do whatever it takes to win!! Your objective: Get to Rand and either Kill (or for bonus points) turn to the shadow. Another enticing tidbit: You can use one UNKNOWN, if you choose. An unknown would be something not fully explained in the books, such as something from the Land of Madmen. Note, if you do choose to use an unknown, it can't be the deciding factor of your objective. You can use it at the start, but you have to give Rand's group a chance to try to combat it. …

Has anyone considered the possibility that Rand might be severed? It would: a) Fit with the blindness vision / dream. Remember how losing the Source was like "losing the sun"? The avid descriptions of such occasions fit with a general loss of light. b) Fit with the dying dream / prophecy. Being stilled is described as being murdered, only slowly. c) Solve the problem of the Taint still affecting Rand, as well as his connection with Ishamael and the sickness. Probably, at least. d) If he is severed by Alivia, possibly in a Lews Therin-trying-to-draw-too-much-of-saidin-and-kill-himself case, then it all fits together. e) He does not have to be ressu…

Ok, so everyone (more or less) knows Gitara Moroso as the woman who sent Tigraine on her path to the Waste and thus able to give birth according to prophecy to the Dragon Reborn. However, in LoC it was also stated that she had convinced Tigraine's brother Luc that the outcome of TG would be dependent on his going North into the Blight. Has it been hinted at anywhere in what sense this might be or does anyone have any plausible theories on the matter? So far the only result we've seen is Luc is sort of half-mad, or I suppose a more appropriate phrase would be "kill-happy" and is now a member of the Shadow who wouldn't mind slaying his nephew and savior or the Light. Seems …

So as I'm going through yet another reread, I've been thinking a lot about TG (like most of us) and in what form the DO will manifest himself. I haven't seen this discussed yet in the past year or two, so if i'm duplicating a past post, my appologies If you think about SH's meeting in The Path of Daggers when he first meets Grandy while Moggy and Lanfear "resurrected" are there, I can't help but think that he's more than just the voice of the DO in Randland. Here's were i'm going with this: He claims that he's the "Hand of the Great Lord" and there is a very familiar way in which he talks to Grandy- as if he's known her for a very long time. We know that t…

In TDR Moiraine comments to herself that at some poin tshe may have to speak to Faile about the secrets that she is keeping from Perrin. Is she refering to the fact that she is Bashere's daughter or something else?

In Books 3 and 4, Rand seems half mad at times- laughing unnecessarily and all that. It really convinced me that he was going to go mad despite all the odds. But later in the series he does not display such weird behaviour. Any ideas how this could be? I wondered whether the appearance of LTT in his head stopped his 'mad-like' behaviour. I have an uncanny feeling that this has already been discussed. ::)

I don't know if anyone else has thought of this yet but what if Rand dies, then the DO puts him in a new body thinking that Rand will be under the DO's control but Rand instead breaks free of the DO's control and then defeats him in his new healthy body??? Just a random idea.

Why did Rand decide to let Fedwin Morr drink from the cup and let him die? Did Fedwin go crazy because of the taint? I don't have any idea as to why Rand decided to kill Fedwin Morr. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I did a search for anything that pointed to this, and though I didnt go through all the threads, I didnt see anything. Bouncing this around in my head, and have been for a while now: What if the Dragon has to be present at 'TG' so that the DO can be freed? What if the DO needs Rand to be there for the right conditions to be met so that he can be free? A few things to take into consideration: 1. The Creator made the DO's prison. (This is an assumed fact.) 2. The DO can break free. 3. The bore was created by Humans. The DO couldn't create the bore himself now could he? 4. Why does the DO even use anyone if all he needs is to break the seals? Wh…

The first Age starts with the creation of the Universe with the Big Bang some 5 billion years ago. It continues with the creation of the Earth, through the various Geologic Ages to Man. The last Age ends with a contracting of the Universe. And then the Universe “bounces” into its twin (http://www.physorg.com/news126955971.html) and back into the first age. Such a scenario would account for the “creator” to create the world. Allow for the fossil record and everything that we take as “fact”. At the same time allows for the whole cycle. Thoughts?

Have any of you ever felt at one point that the Wheel of Time is just like any other book series? That's how I feel right now. Of course the Wheel of Time is a great series, but is it better than any of the others? Is it worth reading to your unborn child day after day? I'm not trying to diss the series. Robert Jordan is in my opinion the greatest writer since God wrote the Bible. (or told the people to write it) What I'm saying is, that the series is getting boring. It's over 20 years old and it still isn't finished. I've been patient, and even though each book is better than the last, it just doesn't come soon enough for me. I'm just saying that the…

I have a couple theories on why there has to be a 13th book, despite the fact that RJ said there wouldn't. (1) if it was supposed to go in one book, it would be like 3,000 pages long. (2) thirteen is a significant number in the WoT series, and I think it would be cool if there were 13 books. (1) the series needs a sequel after all the books where Rand gets married and has kids and is the king of everything and such. just a thought

Just a small request for everyone here: PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY SPOILERS ON OTHER BOOKS. One single phrase can utterly destroy the suspense an author has built up over the whole story. Please refrain from putting spoilers on this forum on other books without a clear warning first. Elantris/Mistborn spoilers have been spotted on the forum. ;)

I always thought the wheel of time was just a series of fantasy books (mind you the best ever written)... is it actually more? you guys act like its more of a religion or a fact based series. am i not reading deep enough? Or do some people just take it too far? My question may seem rude or like i am looking down but i most surely am not, if this is more than just a fantasy series i would like to be enlightened. are there hidden historic references other than the obvious names used for some characters? -also, if there are those that believe there really is a wheel of time, do they base it off of an already established religion? something with reincarnation per…

I have begun giving the audio books a go, and have picked up on something I have always missed in tEotW. Can Mistress Grinwell (Else's mother) channel? We know Else can channel (IIRC quite strongly if she applied herself). We know channeling can be hereditary. The part that gave me this idea was the way Rand felt when she was studying him. It was a description that I have seen similar versions of throughout the series. The way most men feel when someone who can channel is studying them. I know Mistress Grinwell is irrelevant to the story line, but could there be some sort of correlation between channeling and the way just looking at men makes them feel unco…

there were a whole bunch of these in the old DM forums..anyone remember any? Hpoe you like-- Tarmon Gai’don ( Rand: Why did we break that last seal? Why oh why? I don’t wanna die! Mat: Why is everyone looking at me like that? I needed a coaster for my ale! How was I supposed to know I wasn’t supposed to hit it really, really hard? Perrin: But you hit it with a sledgehammer! Mat: That’s beside the point. (Shayol Ghul loomed in the distance as the small party advanced through the Blight. Suddenly Rand stopped.) Rand: Why don’t I just make gateway? It’ll go much faster. Mat: Okay, but I wanna go in last. Everyone: Why? …

If you were Rand what weaves would you make Asmodean teach you? I understand why Rand wanted to know how to ward your dreams and I would of made that my first weave too. I would then have Asmodean teach every combat weaves against another channeler like Severing and Shielding and defensive weaves against combat weaves like the coccon barrier. Then I would use Skimming to take Asmodean and I to the Termool where Asmodean could teach me battle weaves, weaves used during the War of Power, like Blossom of Fire and other weaves of mass destruction. The Termool is the perfect place to practice weaves of destruction and killing because it is a barren sand desert. Anot…

For other readers out there, how do you think RJ chose the hero's name; Rand? My only speculation is that it's a tribute to Ayn Rand, who wrote the novel Atlas Shrugged among others. For those that have read Atlas Shrugged, you know it's a book about men contending with the concept of either embracing self-interest and turning their back to the needs of civilization(morality), or doing the 'right' thing and carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Just an interesting tidbit, the title Atlas Shrugged is a bit of an allusion to Atlas, the Greek Titan who apparently literally held the world on his shoulders. Similar to the character Rand, no? …

Just an idle thought but this might be deadly and dangerous. The last (and only) time LTT stole the power away from Rand almost resulted in Rand's death since LTT was drawing more than he could handle. Since LTT is determined to die at TG, if he gets hold of saidin at TG, he will surely try to kill himself. Is this going to happen? Or is all this just nonsense and will Rand go marching forth with the Choden Kal acess key blazing before him (hmmm...a bit overdone there :D ;D ;)) Advance thanks to everyone who answers.

Hey all, A few weeks ago Tor.com had the Dragon Reborn cover as wallpaper for free. My computer was stolen after I got the wallpaper and I was wondering if anyone else nabbed it while it was available and if they'd be willing to post it for me. I'm assuming that since it was available for free that it's open license, but if somebody knows differently by all means I'm not intending to rip them off. Also, sorry that this is probably the wrong forum for this sort of thing

Well, most of these can only call for guesswork instead of facts and evidence, but they seem interesting. 1) What happens to a Circle if the leader is killed? 2) What happens if one of the members contributing to a Circle is balefired some time to the past? What will happen to the weaves that have been formed with his / her contribution? 3) Can someone link with a female channeler bound by an adam? Can a channeler bound by an adam lead a Circle? 4) Can someone not bound by the Three Oaths who is leading a Circle which contains Aes Sedai use the Power as a weapon without the requirements stated by the Oath being met? Will the Aes Sedai suffer the ill ef…
